AmbaLove is Tracking the Journey!

OooooOOoh OooOOoh recipe sharing?? Me wants! haha Dang.. Now I'm getting hungry for chili. Sheesh... haha Hi there, Amba. I just wanted to thank you for dropping into my journal and giving me advice. :) It looks like you have wonderful support from your husband and that's REALLY important. Keep "sagging and bagging," girl! hahaa

Leo- Your husband weighs 135 and needs to lose 75??? Surely that was a typo... did you mean 235?

My husband is short, too, only 5'4"...cute, though!

Dangit it! I hate it when that happens!
Yes, I meant 235 lol. I will go back and correct so I don't sound like a dweeb everytime someone reads it. lol

Sure, I can share recipes!!

Turkey chili (be forewarned, my chili is spicy!):
1.5 lbs of ground turkey (the really lean kind)
1 can dark red kidney beans
1 can original rotel
1 can tomato sauce (not paste)
1/2 cup water (more if you like thinner chili)
1/2 pkg of williams original chili seasoning
1/2 cup onion

Brown the turkey in a skillet with onion and 1 Tbs of the chili seasoning. Rinse and drain beans and throw all the cans of things plus the seasoning and water in a pan. Add browned turkey and onion. Simmer 30 minutes. Serve with crackers, fat free sour cream, cheese, tortillas, whatever! Serves 6.

Tuscan Turkey Cutlets:
1 pound turkey cutlets (turkey breast, thinly sliced)
½ teaspoon oil
1 teaspoon butter
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
½ cup chicken stock
1 tsp. each rosemary (ground or leaves) and thyme

Pound the turkey slices with a meat pounder until they are as thin as possible.

Heat the oil in a frying pan and add the butter. Sauté slices until they are lightly browned on each side. You may need to do this in batches. About three minutes per side is enough if they are thin.

Remove to a platter, sprinkle with salt and pepper and cover to keep hot.

Add the chopped garlic, rosemary and thyme to the oil and butter in the pan and add half of the chicken stock. Bring to a boil, scraping the sides of the pan.

Add the remaining stock and continue to cook until the sauce is reduced by half the volume. Pour over turkey slices. Serves 4.

I serve this with rice pilaf and broccoli or green beans.

He also told me today that my pants were "sagging and bagging, so I must be slimming down!"

Amba -- how awesome that your husband is so supportive! And congrats on the "sagging and bagging!" Cool beans! Its a nice feeling when you notice that your clothes are getting too big.

Harry 5 is one of my favorites, as well...

I've had a good day today. I got a haircut, bought some new makeup and makeup brushes (long overdue...like I did it 18 months ago...), and cooked barbecue chicken with steamed zucchini and spinach salad. YUM!!

I just got back from a 2 mile moonlit stroll with my husband, and three things occur to me. One, I should buy bug spray, as I was eaten alive! Two, our neighborhood needs more streetlights! Three, I am so glad I never walk alone at night...there are some weird people out there!

I may have waited til 10 at night, but at least I got some exercise in today!

Had baked chicken strips for dinner...I LOVE those. I could probably eat 3 chicken breasts that way. I am glad I didn't make enough of them to do that.

I weigh in saturday morning...I really want to be down this week, but the scale hasn't budged in days....ah, well.

That moonlight stroll sounds sooo nice. My boyfriend is always "too tired" from working (he's just lazy) to go for walks...he just wants me to drive him everywhere.

Getting exercise in at anytime is great exercise.

I'll be hopeing for the scale to move down (the only way it should be allowed to move ;)) for you on Saturday.

Today a friend and I walked the trails at the nature center in town. We only walked a mile, but since we had her 4 year old and her toddler in a stroller, it felt longer!! I pushed the stroller and on some of those hills, it was quite the workout. We had a great time and saw deer, crane, muskrats, wild turkeys, squirrels, butterflies, dragonflies, turtles and fish! All in one mile. So cool.

Today's food:
Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, 1 oz reduced-fat cheese
Snack: Soy Bon Bons (protein snack from dietician)
Lunch: 1 cup turkey chili (with beans)
Dinner: 6 inch chicken and mushroom sub from a cafe here, garden salad, no dressing
Snack: Fudge Graham Crisp-N-Crunch Bar (from dietician)

Weigh in tomorrow....eep! The scale was down today from yesterday, maybe that is a good sign...

I am going to do some time on the elliptical today, but other than that, I plan on being a bum. I have a headache and just want to lay down.

Well, I am so glad I did the elliptical! I actually felt much better after working out. And hopefully it will help the weigh in tomorrow.

I still do not look much smaller, but I realized something today. My jeans no longer leave a mark by my belly button. So...they must be looser! That is happy!

Keep up the good work

Woohoo on your jeans no longer leaving a mark by your belly button. that must be a great feeling I know it is for me. I can't wait till i can get an elliptical or a treadmill. I just have no money to get one and walmart took out the layway program that they had so now if i want to get one i have to go to kmart. and i am not even sure they sell them there.

anyways keep up the good work

Hey Amber,

You're doing sooo well... It must feel great to not have your jeans leave a mark by your belly button:)

Good luck at your weigh in tomorrow:hug2:

It's a great feeling!! I just suddenly noticed today. I mean, it isn;t something you generally check for!

I am trying (key word trying) to do the dishes every night instead of letting them pile up. (I generally do dishes when we are out of glasses...bad Amber). I think this is a harder habit than dieting! If you guys would casually ask now and then "Are your dishes done? If not, get off of here and do them!!" That'd be great.

Well...I took the plunge. I posted my before pics in the photo section. Yikes. I can forget how big I am until I see a photo from the side. I carry my weight in front of me (stomach, boobs), instead of getting really wide hips...so from the front (which is how I look at myself in a mirror), I do not feel as bad about how I look. From the side....yuck.

Woot! Congrats with no longer being in the Jeans Button "Branding" Club. heheee I just reached that point with my "tight jeans" the other day also! I looked in the mirror after running around town all day and said, "Holy crap! No BCBG imprint on my tummy? What's going on here?" LOL You're doing great, Amba! Keep it up. Oh Oh before I forget, I took a look at your photos and well aren't you just adorable! And yah... blue is definitely your color. :)
