I think that the good workout results can be a couple things. If you always work out at the same time something might have happened during the day to give you that extra energy. Well done, but if the next time you work out and you just don't have it, don't sweat it. You have it, just not at that moment.

I am hoping that the appetite thing happens for me. That's great that you can feel satisfied with just what you should be eating. My problem is that I'm always ready for more. :piggy: Maybe I should start cooking badly.

The change in body is probably mostly just that you are seeing now what's been changing for the last month. You've been working out like a fiend and have changed from a mostly cardio/running workout to a heavy into the lifting workout. You are putting on the muscle, man. Time for another BF% calculation. Don't be surprised to see it dropped a couple %.

Totally random and not my thread but...

I have never calculated my BF% - guess I should get one of those meters....
 
I'm curious, too, but I know that most of the meters are not very accurate. They give you an indication of what your % is, and if you always use the same method you can see the change. Some people have the scale that reads it through your feet. Some gyms have a hand held thing that reads it through your arms. Some places have multiple contact points that they hook up all over. I don't think it really matters the method you use because what most of us are really looking for is to decrease our BF%. Other then that it's pretty much not giving you anything that you can take to the bank.

I think that there is a real method where you are dunked in a tank of water and your % is calculated from that, but I don't know a lot about it. It sounds expensive and for what purpose.
 
I agree - I just need some sort of a ball park figure, it would be good to have in my case where I think that for some reason I am losing weight in the bottom of my stomach so I am not registering a change in measurements b/c really, who the heck measure the hang of thier pooch? I think I have an old pic from a month or two ago so I may take another one and see if I see a difference...not posting those though, no need for forum-wide vomiting :)
 
My gym has a hand held device and you just ask to use it when you check in. It really depends on a lot of variables, like how dehydrated you might be or when you last ate. Anyway, it is nice to see the number going down, but every now and then for whatever reason it's way different one day. I haven't used it in a while. Maybe I should, just to see what it has to say.
 
Brian, I'm glad you finally had a good "oh shit!" moment. That is an incredible feeling. I'm glad you feel satisfied with yourself, your hard work, and your progress. Proud of you, sweetie.

Quick update- the fricking scale moved......
first time in a month it moved signifigantly...

I am 222.

We all knew it would. You always just keep at it and never give up, so we know the scale will finally agree. Way to go. :hurray:

Some weird shit is happening here that I do not understand. It seems like a light switch has been flipped this last 10 days or so and my body is all of a sudden responding to everything I have been doing to it over the last month that I have not dropped a pound.
First of all, strength. I dead lifted 255x8 today- previous best was 225x6. Bench is now 205x4 with n spotter- most likely could do 6 if i had one- it was 195x5 a week ago. All my disciplines across the board have increased at this rate. It is like my body woke up and went ah ha!
Second of all- appearance.
I look like a normal person to me now. This has just happened. I have the illusion of abs. I have definition in my chest & arms. I have sharp edges as opposed to rounded ones. I look good, shirt on or off. You can see ribs clearly. I have definition.

third- appetite.
I am not as hungry as i have been previously. I am still getting regular meals and am in no way starving myself but i am not snacking. I am sitting here at 930 after eating a few good meals and am not hungry..

I do not know what the hell happened. I was just minding my own business and all of a sudden all these changes came at once. I feel rejuvenated. I finally feel that all I have been doing makes sense.

Does anyone have a logical explanation to what s going on here?? Seriously- why would all this be happening so suddenly.
I am not arguing with it, but I do not get it. And I do not think this was gradual and I am just noticing it now.

I don't know why this happens, but it's happened to me too. You work and work, diet, exercise and it feels like it's all for naught...and then the pounds start falling off and the workout suddenly feels easier. Of course there are days that it feels like doing my 30 minutes of cardio is going to kill me to.

I guess it's just a natural pattern of fluctuations in our bodies.

Congrats on having such a good time though. I quoted your whole post so you could see it again. :)

I dont think I am out of the woods yet but I did have my moment of clarity. Keep working and good things will happen. I will never give up but sometimes it is easier to not care as much.
I started to care again. That is when all this started.
