Bought one of those super tight running shirts also. Oh my god is it tight but I think I look damn good in it. It really shows how far I have come that I honestly think I look damn good in a shirt so tight it looks like a asecond skin.

Hot stuff :)

So you've been ballparking your intake so far? How are you going about tracking things now?

For 2 months I was religiously writing things down. Calories only- no nutrients/macros.
I just got wrapped up with some things at work and home for the last several weeks and did not write anything down. I assumed I knew the caloric content of everything. I most likely do- within reason- but I have a shot memory. I also realize I need it written down or I have no accountibilty to myself.
My tracking now is going to be the same as the first 2 months is writing it down on a mini legal pad. The caloric number comes from either the package of calorie-count.com.

Skin tight shorts? Skin tight shirt?

I smell a picture coming on...
C'mon now...
Noone wants to see that. This is a public forum. Lord knows how many people in how many countries I could make ill.
It would be traced back to me as the cause....
I would be on the news....
too much for me to handle.

So i find myself wondering today when one should stop worrying about the number on the scale. I have not really had and appreciable weight loss in a few weeks. I know I am not eating right so I know what the cause is but I am getting very happy with how I look overall. Sure I am still fat but it is an acceptable fat.
I still want to lose more but am wondering when/if I should just eat and exercise- not worry a whole hell of a lot about total caloric intake. I mean, I will never eat the way I used to again, but is it worth it to track every single quantity of food and try to hit a number?
I don't know.... I am not actively worried about the number on the scale but I do still look at the scale.....

Oh,
my wife won the first week of the biggest loser at her school!
Largest total loss and largest percentage!

She kicked ass!

Brian that's awesome :)

As for the scale, I try to stay away but that is just b/c I am a neurotic mess about it and it was making me crazy...I think it is better (for me) to use it as a tracking device instead of the be-all, end-all, you know?

I hear what you are saying about the scale. I just do not think the number is important to me, but feel it should be. I am not 100% sure why I think that- maybe all the years of worrying about it.
The whole point of this is to get healthy and look/feel better. If all that is happening then shouldn't the scale take care of itself? If all this is happening and the scale is not moving is it an issue? Should it be? If I can run further than i ever have in my life and lift more than I ever have in my life should it matter if I am 205 or 235?
I am seriously considering taking the scale and putting it in the other bathroom for a month and not really tracking exactly what I am eating- or only concentrating on macros and not calories specifically to make sure i am getting proper nutrients- and seeing what happens. I know how much is overeating by now. Counting calories is almost a useless exercise- I know what to eat 90% of the time.
I mean- if all clothes fit or are loose and i like what I see that is all that matters right?
Can I be happy without the scale?

I think you can be happy without it, if you track your macros, the calories should fall into place. I have been talking about doing this but have yet had the time to sit down and acutally do it.

Give it a shot - you will know if you are getting out of control.

Eh- a shot it shall be.
I figure it cannot hurt and with all the exercise I am going to be putting in it should not be an issue.

By the way- and I just noticed it as I am Observant Man- how the heck is your BMI so frickin high Ali?
You do not look anywhere near a 32 BMI. I personally hate BMI as a stat but good lord is yours incredibly inaccurate IMO.

Haha, I double checked it just to be sure and it is accurate...I weigh 190 or there abouts and am 5'4"...it is the height that kills me I guess.

Thanks for the compliment, it made me smile :)

People here need to go away- at least away from me.
New girl in the office today who thinks I am 'grumpy'. I cannot tell you how I hate the word 'grumpy' to describe me.
'surly' works, 'leave that one alone' works, Grumpy is a dwarf. I never want to be called one of the dwarfs, think about it...
She is one of the perky ex cheerleader types. 23-25 years old, blonde. god do I hate that type....

Taking a week off in May just to get out of here and recharge at home.

So I am going to try 2 weeks with no scale and no calorie counting.
I figure I am a big boy and know how to eat now and know how clothes fit.

I am still looking at caloric content in things but will now focus somewhat on more of a macro nutrient level. I do not even know how deep I will go with that. I do not eat badly and my diet is fairly well rounded. The entire population does not concern itself with marcos- I am not trying to do anything except eat healthy.
If clothes start to get tighter I will reevaluate- after I weigh- and change yet again.
It really feels like I am changing something about what I do every week or so be it my approach to eating, WT, cardio- I really hope I can stick to something......

2 week experiment begins today.

So I am going to try 2 weeks with no scale and no calorie counting.
.

Good luck with this. I am on my first week of no weighing for a week. EEK it's been hard for me to not get in my birthday suit and crawl on. I still count calories because I continue to under eat when I don't count them.

What are macros?

:waving:

Thanks for the well wishes. I really think I will stick with it pretty easily. Undereating has never been an issue of mine.........never- so all I am looking for is not to gorge myself from time to time.....

Macros are the protein, fat, & carbs. I am paying attention to the consumption of these in the proper percentages instead of calories.

At least that is the plan. :D

OK.

So I hit a fitness goal yesterday- and of course me being me I am slightly worried about it.
First the goal- I wanted from the time I quit smoking to run 6 miles in 60 minutes- 6 10 minute miles for the math impared. I ran 6.3 in 60 yesterday. What was even more impressive to me was that I ran/jogged the entire time. I essentially ran a 10K in a little under an hour.
The part that worries me is I was not really that winded/dead at the end. I do not know if I worked out hard enough for me. My little heart rate monitor/coffee maker told me that I averaged 146bpm for the hour but if I averaged that high I really think I should be more winded than I was. Of course me being me I then went out 1 hour later and played indoor volleyball for 2 hours. Needless to say, I am really tired today.....
Meetings and conference calls all frickin morning.
Sometime around noon I should be able to come up for air if I am not asleep in the board room.....

Have a fun morning... amuse yourself during those meetings with a rousing game of makes meetings a lot more entertaining.. .jsut dont jump up in the middle of the meeting screaming bullshit -unless of course what is being said - really is bullshit.

Grats on your great run...
