Always Pushing Up The Hill, Searching For The Thrill Of It

Mannnn, when I really get going I can eat a WHOLE large pizza from pizza hut. Stuffed crust and all! :piggy: Well done on just having the one slice!

MMMMMmmmmMMmm... Pizza Hut :drool5: :D

Last night after dinner, I washed all the dishes that my roommates so kindly left for me in the sink and then I fixed myself a drink (diet coke and vodka). I used a smaller glass so I wouldn't get too loopy but I can say that it made me feel pretty happy :D I went to bed at 10:30PM.

This morning I woke up at 6AM and ready to go to the gym! I'm surprised it was so easy for me to wake up this morning... usually I have to slap myself in the face a few times :smilielol5: But anyway, I got there and did the 3rd day of the 5K training (same 1 minute running / 2 minute walking intervals). One more day of that tomorrow and I will have completed the first week! :) I was sort of frustrated this morning, though, because I'm experiencing back pain and I know it's from the running because I can only really feel it when I start running :( I even hopped off the treadmill for a few minutes to stretch but when I got back on, I could still feel it bothering me. I pushed through it (which may or may not have been a good choice) so I'm going to take some ibuprofen and hopefully tomorrow it will be feeling better!

Now I'm just enjoying a cup of coffee and a banana for breakfast before I have to start getting ready for work. That's all for now :waving:

Hurray for 6am gym visits! You'z crazy!

You're doing great with the 5k training program! Keep it up! Inspiration for us all! Everytime I come here, and see you're doing it, it reminds me to that I gotta get on that!! :)

Sorry to hear about your back. That's one of my problem areas too...and it's hard to know if it's just muscle pain from building/working the muscle, or more serious pain! Take it easy girlie! Pop some pills (maybe another coke and vodka ;) And have a long bath!!

Have a great day at work!!! :)

Hi,

I was just reading your diary- good job on starting the 5 K training. I started running when I started my weight loss. I started at 255 pounds running from driveway to driveway ( I live in the country-lol) I ran a 5 KM run on January 1 and am now training for 10 KM on March 20. I never thought I would be a runner but here I am at the advanced age of 49 and 188 pounds trying to be a jock-LMAO. I have pain in my back occasionally when I run. As long as you don't have anything medically wrong - bad back, heart problems etc. it could be your stride. I find that if I just run and don't pay attention to HOW I am running- I get back pain. Make sure you aren't slouched over when your run- try to keep your shoulders back. Once I straighten up and make sure I am running heel toe - heel toe ( helps with shin splints) the back pain goes away. Good luck on the running - keep up the good work!!

Thanks for stopping by. And congrats on the weight loss so far! I'm actually doing this 5K training for the second time around. I too started it when I began my weight loss and shed 15 pounds pretty fast combined with healthier eating. I even did a half marathon last May which was pretty exciting! But I have slacked a little on both the exercise and diet aspect of my life so I'm doing the 5K program again just to keep me in line with running and hopefully to get in good shape for spring break :D I don't have any medical problems... I did experience lower back pain for a while after running the half marathon... maybe the pain I'm having now is just from starting back up and running more regularly. Either way, I will try to pay more attention to my posture and keep it straight! At least I'm past the shin splints (those are the worst!) Good luck with your 10 K!! :)

Had WAYYYYY too many sweets yesterday. So much sugar, I woke up this morning feeling sick to my stomach. Let's just say I spent a lot of time on the toilet this morning! Urrrghh.

I got ready and hopped on the treadmill. Completed the last day of week one for the 5K training. After that, I did some floor exercises:
- Lunging squats & biceps curls w/8lb dumbbells (3x8)
- Side bends w/8lb dumbbell (3x10)
- Squats (3x10)
- 10 GOOD push ups
- 40 crunches regular, 10 bicycles, 40 crunches left side, 10 bicycles, 40 crunches right side, 10 bicycles, 40 crunches laying flat
- Stretch

This morning I am going to the mall to look for some things for spring break :) I was trying on my swim suits this morning because I'm sooo excited! I work this afternoon but have no plans after that so far. I sort of want to party because I haven't been very social lately, but we shall see where the night takes me!

Adios! :waving:

So where did the night take you?
Nice work keeping up the workouts! Sorry I didn't get around much last week. I'm really dedicated today and starting fresh - 3 weeks till vacation! No slacking off now. That's exciting about going shopping - did you end up finding anything? We are waiting to do some shopping in Arizona before the cruise - everything is always cheaper and bigger selection in the U.S. I have three weeks before I have to try on bathing suits - eek!
Let's shed some fat this week!!! Happy Monday Sarah!

Hope you had a great weekend! You're killing the workouts girlie! And congrats on finishing the first week of the couch to 5k :) :)

I hope the mall was a success!!!!

Take care!!!!

Thanks girls! The mall WAS a success. I spent $80 bucks (which I felt bad about) but I got a pair of skinny jeans, a pair of jean shorts, a dress, a "destroyed" looking tank top, an off the shoulder dressy top, a gray and lime green striped t-shirt with a braided rope around the waist, and sunglasses! So I made out pretty good I must say :D

Saturday night I ended up going to my friends house for some drinks. I never really hang out there and I didn't have a side-kick with me so it was fun to actually make some new friends to hang out with for the night instead of just sticking around the people that I'm close to. We went to two parties and then hit the bars. I had a LOT of fun. One of the bars, that I've never gone to, is where I saw a lot of people that I knew from around campus and from the coffee shop that I work at. One boy in particular was there and I started talking to him (I know him as the boy who always comes in for a large triple shot mocha lol)... his name is Joey and he's REALLY cute... tall, shaggy brown hair, SUPER super sweet guy.

After the bars we went to a pizza place. He ordered pizza for us and bought a pint of ice cream there. I was telling him how blue moon is my favorite flavor so he had them scoop some blue moon out for me. When we got back to his place, we had some pizza, never got to the ice cream, and I don't remember falling asleep but I woke up on the couch with a blanket that he covered me up with and I could see through the doorway that he was sleeping in his room. That right there says he's a kind man, he didn't try putting any moves on me. I left him a note thanking him for the hospitality, I told him to stop at my work and that we should hang out again sometime so I left him my number. A few hours later he texted me apologizing for not waking up before I left (but he looked so cute sleeping! :) ) and saying he would stop in my work later because there was a painting he wanted to buy.

He came in and I made him his drink (on the house, it was the least I could do for all the $$$ he spent on me the night before, haha!) and after he left he texted me right away: "Thanks :)" I was all giddy and blushing and decided that I have a huge crush on this boy. He texted me again a few hours later and said he would like to hang out again sometime soon, soooo I have a date this week ;)

Alright -- enough about that! Obviously I didn't eat very healthy this weekend but that's usually how my weekends always go :( I am going to do a few chores around the house and head to the gym today for day 1 of week 2 training! I'm going to try drinking a glass of water with every meal/snack today. I wonder if I can do it! Water is so hard to drink when you DON'T want it!

Happy Monday everyone :waving:

omg!!! i'm all giddy now!! Skkroll has a crush on a cute, sweet, gentleman!! eeeeee!!!

ok! so date next week!? OMG! I'm so excited!!! Congrats!! he sounds like a lovely guy- and you're right, the fact that he didn't make a move, and covered you up, and aww...!! And he texted you ASAP!! AWWWWWWWWWW!! Ok...to me it sounds like he's very much into you! And he's into you in the way that he respects you and doesn't want to ruin anything by putting moves on you too soon!! That's so sweet!

And you got all that great stuff for $80!!!? That's wonderful!!

I'm glad you had such a great weekend!
I hope Monday treats you ten times better girlie!!!

:D :D :D Aw Tik now YOU'RE making me blush!! :blush5: I can't wait to see him again, I just want to call him up now but I have too much studying to do! :(

Today is off to a fantastic start. For breakfast I had 2 egg whites with cheese on an english muffin. AND a glass of water :) My back is KILLING ME again today, I think it's from laying on the couch a lot, it messes up my back. Or maybe the way I've been sleeping at night. Anyway, I got to the gym and I did 3.1 miles on the treadmill (2 minute warm up, 30 minutes intervals: running 2 minutes @ 6.8 mph / walking 1 minute @ 4.0 mph, 2 minute cool down). I just got home and am redoing this 100 push ups program so for day 1 it was 12 push ups total.

I grabbed a flyer for the Indoor IronMan on campus and I'm think about doing it! It starts today and goes through March 25th. To complete the program, you must do a 2 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and 26 mile run. All of these activities are to be done in the gym on campus. Well, I got my 3.1 miles in at the gym today, so I'd have only 22.9 more to go! lol as for the swimming... I am a HORRIBLE swimmer so that would have to be broken down A LOT. Anyway, I'm going to plan a work out schedule and try it out. This will be an awesome since spring break is only a month away! :D

At first when I read this I thought you had to do it all back to back in one afternoon and I was thinking HOLY COW you aren't even going to train for the marathon - your just going to try and do your best after simming and biking too!! The thing is I still totally thought in my mind that it could be done - I wasn't even thinking "what is she thinking!!! she can't do it".
That is a great idea though! What a fun way to get some exercise in. I'm glad for your sake that it doesn't all have to be done in one day!

I'm so excited you have a crush! It's been a while and it will give you a little extra motivation to bust out your workouts! Seems like a really nice guy too. I hope it works out. If not you will be sure to find another crush over spring break!
Good work starting the push-ups program again too!! Keep it up Sarah!!

Hahahaha I WISH I could do it all in one day! :p

Yesterday was good! Here is how my eating looked:

Breakfast: 2 egg whites w/cheese on english muffin
Lunch: Half peanut butter sandwich, banana
Snack: 3 mugs of coffee (I was studying for almost 4 hours... it helped!)
Dinner: Chicken and roasted garlic mashed potatoes
Snacks: Granola bar, string cheese

Today is going to be SUPER busy (picked up a shift at work this morning, then going straight to class, home to study, back to class, hopefully getting to the gym, then going to class AGAIN) and I can't wait for it to be over with. I am going to try to get to the gym and do some biking today! I figured out the math and I need to do 28 miles/week of biking in order to meet the Ironman requirement.

Gotta get ready for work! Buh bye everyone, have a great healthy day!

:hurray: Great start to the week yesterday! Doesn't it feel so good to be on track!
I love the idea of the ironman challenge and totally think you should go for it. If you break the biking down you only have to do 4 miles a day and I bet you could do that in 15 min so if you double up some days you'll be set! Maybe work out a schedule where you are running one day and biking the next. I can't wait till it's warm enough to run and bike outside again. I'm thinking when we get back from our trip most of the snow should be melted and it will be good motivation to get the weight off again!
Don't burn yourself out today and get lots of water in! Have a good one!

Have a great (busy) Tuesday!!!!!

Reading your diary makes me feel guilty for being lazy! Cause girl, you are busy!!

That's awesome about the ironman! I love the idea! You're going to kill it!

Sooo today wasn't AS productive as I had thought it would be... that started this morning when my boss called me 15 minutes before I was supposed to come into work and told me that she didn't need me to come in. I had to get to class by 9:30 but I figured, hey, what the hell, I'm already up and ready to go for the day, might as well get to the gym right away! :D So I went in to do my biking and I did 7.3 miles (30 minutes on an upright bike). I feel like I go a lot faster on the sit down bikes but I guess they are a little easier that way. Here is how today's eating looked:

Breakfast - Oatmeal with peanut butter and craisins mixed in
Snacks - Coffee, 7 almonds
Lunch - Egg w/cheese on english muffin, yogurt
Snacks - Apple w/peanut butter, pretzels w/hummus
Dinner - Turkey, onion, & light mayo sandwich (35 cal bread), fiber one bar
Snacks - Unsalted rice cake w/peanut butter, string cheese

Okay... so I was really loving the peanut butter today :blush5: and I could have done without the snacks after dinner as I wasn't even hungry BUT I guess it could have been worse (especially since I was just hanging out with my roomies who ordered subs from Jimmy John's and were smoking... I didn't partake in either of those activities).

Tomorrow I am waking up at 6AM to get to the gym right when it opens. I am doing running AND biking and my push ups program. I have to study all morning after that for an exam in the afternoon and then when I'm done with that I have a little date with Joey :D We are going to hang out at his place and I'm brining my Super Nintendo with me (lol LOVE old school video games :D ) so I hope it will be a good time since the last time (and only time) we hung out we were both pretty plastered :ack2:

IDK if I will make it on here tomorrow but I'm supposed to weigh in (eeek!) so I'll try to come back and log that quick but I won't be able to get around to other journals really as I have SO much studying left to do since I did NOT utilize my time right today.

Later!

I think your eating looked great yesterday! You also got to the gym and you weren't sure you would so that is also great! Don't be so hard on yourself. I shouldn't talk though :blush5:.
Good job passing up the subs! I bet your sandwich had way less cals! I wish I would have got up to workout this morning - if I was as dedicated as I should be I would have.
Oh I also love old school Nintendo games. I'm mad because when we got a new tv we found out it isn't compatible with our Game Cube - only the Wii works on it because it's got new adaptors or something. I really love Mario Cart but I guess I can still play it on the Wii -it's just not as fun. Oh and I love Mario Party!
Good luck studying. Have a good day!

Thanks Lisa! I really wish I had a Wii. However I am HORRIBLE at Mario Kart on Wii! I can only work the old school remote controllers on that! Haha

Off to a good start today! I did 3.3 miles on the treadmill and 4.5 miles on the bike along with day 2 of the pushups program (16 push ups in all). Weigh in I was down 0.8 from last week so now I'm at 143 -- wish I would have seen more of a loss but I'll take it!

I took some pictures this morning of myself in a bikini so hopefully by the end of ironman (and the time spring break gets here) I can see some changes from incorporating biking and swimming into my routine. I really hope the progress will show!

Gotta run! Chat with you all when I'm free of studying! :D

Bikini photos! God, would never catch my whale-butt in a bikini. I'm so jealous of your figure, lady! Feel proud of yourself. We certainly are :D *hugs* Have a great rest of the week, Sarah!

You're doing a great job and killing the workouts!! You ahve such motivation to get up that early and make it there when they open!!!

Have a fabulous time tomorrow night! I love that you're bringing over you SNES!! That is awesome!!!

Congrats on the loss! Any loss is a great achievement!! And should be celebrated with a happy dance *happy booty shakin' dance*!!!

And bikini photos?! Girl, you gots balls! I don't have the guts to get into a bikini nor take photos of it! LOL

Take care, and good luck on your exam!
