Alligatorob's Diary

Rob well done on eating so little and been so disciplined. One of my big letdowns can be eating what people put in front of me.
The melon and peaches sound divine .

Only one Europeans clearly not a par of the ruling elite, Rashi a French rabbi and writer was the only one I could find without some military or ruling background. I know this is probably because these are the people who had the history recorded, but it is an interesting contrast to the Persians, 4 are listed 3 are intellectuals, a theologian and jurist, a physician, and a poet.
The only "important" people around here who weren't rulers and their relatives were clergy. And any important clergy came from the ruling classes. And the Catholic church at the time didn't want their people thinking creatively; every other fart was called heresy. There's a reason many classical texts first came (back) to Europe from the Arab world.

If you check out my diary you will see a big list of birds seen on or over our land, as requested, Sir :D
The mammal list & reptile list will have to wait :)
I wish we had some peaches! I'm off to make a fruit salad......

It was a good day, ate a lot of fresh fruit and I feel good. We are getting set up to try juicing peaches, not 100% sure what we will do with the juice, drink some of it, freeze some of it, and maybe try making some peach wine.

The Liaodi Pagoda, China's tallest pagoda at the time, was finished in 1055. The pagoda still stands to day and at a height of 276 ft (84 meters) is the highest still existing pre-modern pagoda in China. The pagoda was originally planned to store Buddist scriptures, but due to its height the emperor decided to use it as a watch tower instead. The name Liaodi means "foreseeing the enemy's intentions ".

It seems crazy in this day of ikea furniture and kit homes that any building or structure could last that long. Amazing to think that humans used to be able to build something worthwhile ...

You should feel good, Rob. You made the grandkids day and stayed focus with your food intake (posted from Thursday, sorry)

It was a good day, we managed to get about 2 gallons of peach juice, our first try.

The juice is pretty good, not as sweet as I expected and not a strong peach flavor, but no question what it is. I guess I am used to drinking synthetic juices from the store, lots of added sugar and flavoring. I think we will be making more, the peach harvest has just begun. I have to do a bit of research to figure out the calories in fresh squeezed peach juice, without added sugar. Apparently its not too common. The one place that did claim to be peach juice no sugar added said 118 calories in 8 ounces, which seems high to me. That is the same as for coke, which sure tastes a whole lot sweeter. Oh well, I'll go with it today.

In 1177 the Holy Roman Empire renounced all claims on Rome. The Holy Roman Empire seems an oddity, it was really a north central European thing, mostly German. Not Roman at all. Not really holy either, not in any way I can understand. And for most of its existence it was more a league of loosely confederated smaller states, not an empire.

Definitely not holy, but they did see themselves as the successors to the real Roman empire and at first needed to be confirmed by the pope to be considered official. It only became a hereditary thing later, at which point they were mostly tied to Austria (and central/eastern Europe in general).

Most pure fruit juices are about the same amount of calories as normal soda. And have about as much sugar.

Rob
I know juices are high in cals too. Is there any way you can bottle the peaches or freeze them . I have frozen rhubarb and it's great .

Super food you are eating .

Damn Rob, cherries peaches and now cantaloupe. I’m moving to Utah! :rotflmao:Seriously starting to rethink the keto, I NEED lots of fruit in my life.

I liked your talk of mental preparation heading into the smores event. It’s kind of weird how this diet stuff lives in your head. I’ve slowly learned that “rehearsing” in my head what I’m going to eat, and not going to eat, makes a big difference in overall success and my enjoyment of it.

276 down 2 lbs this week, that makes 44 lbs down so far, 20 kg! I am happy.

My shorts are getting too loose, will have to dig into my boxes of older and smaller clothes to hopefully find some that fit. Took a box of my old 5xl shirts to the Goodwill yesterday, that felt good. Now even some of the 4xls are starting to feel a little baggy.

Great job on the 44 lbs gone. It feels great to get rid of the clothes that doesn’t fit anymore. Especially since you won’t need them anymore. A great motivation!!!

All of that is amazing! Also: Caesar was killed in 44 BCE.

Excellent work Rob! Well done. That’s a big milestone. You should be very proud of everything you’ve done!

Wow Rob well done that's a superb loss . We weigh around same time of week I think . You are really flying it now . Nice and steady consistent losses . Congratulations

YAY on being down 20 kg & baggy clothes & well done on giving away those 5 XL's & 4 XL's being a bit baggy. You are doing so well, Rob!

..., will have to dig into my boxes of older and smaller clothes to hopefully find some that fit. ...
there is a closet in a spare room i hardly ever look into, but i did a few weeks ago. two things i see that i haven't tried on, but i have a feeling will actually fit again.... my Boy Scout shirt... a white Nehru jacket (and i even left the peace sign necklace on the hanger!)... woo-hoo... maybe Halloween?

i have about a dozen things i KNOW i should give away, but have too much history.

Flyer, A Nehru jacket! There was a time I really wanted on of those, but by the time I saved enough to buy one they had gone out of style. Hang onto, you never know when they will come back!
