Alligatorob's Diary

Just a quick post to try and be consistent, limited internet here.

Got to Baton Rouge and am visiting cousins, ate a lot last night, not sure how many calories. I had a lite breakfast, just an 80 cal Greek yogurt and a few bites of melon, no lunch, but for dinner I had 6 oysters grilled on the half-shell with a non lite topping, parmesan cheese and other things. Then I had 3 lbs of fresh caught crawfish, most of that weight is not edible, but it felt like a lot when eating. I also at the half cob of corn cooked with the crawfish. 3 lbs was the smallest order I could make, but I ate everyone of them. Manged to resist the bread, potatoes, and beer.

On to Houma tonight, and the Aunt who has been talking about the surprise she was making for me since I first called. I'll figure out a way through it.IMG_0142 (002).jpg

Just found something, there are only about 140 calories in a 3 pounds of unpeeled crawfish. Not sure why I was so full. Sucking the heads probably adds a few calories to that, but it can't be a whole lot.

The crawfish season is just beginning, so these were particularly good, softer shells. Later season crawfish are a bit bigger, but the shells get harder and I don't think they are as sweet. Prices have risen astronomically since the world outside of Louisiana has discovered crawfish, when I was at LSU we could get a 100 lb bag for $10 to $15, cheapest meat you could buy. Good student party food. Now they are $3 to $5 a pound... Prices go up after Mardi Gras.

Another good day, had oatmeal with fruit for breakfast, no lunch, and 4 lbs of boiled crawfish for dinner. And a small piece of King Cake, just enough to make my Aunt happy. Tomorrow I head to New Orleans for the last of my cousin visits. Who knows what that will bring. Thursday its home to the cold, but well connected place.

I am a bit anxious about my weigh in, its been 2 weeks, and since traveling I have not had good calorie counts, or very regular meals. The truth of how well I am doing will come out.

I have a sneaky suspicion that your weight may not have increased by much at all. You are very aware all the time of everything you eat. I would love some of that crawfish right now!

I'm so glad you were able to have some to make your aunt happy :)
I think you struck a really nice balance of sticking to sensible eating while enjoying yourself. Good for you Rob!

You did as well as you could. The next weigh-in doesn´t really matter - at least not nearly as much as the one after that.

:D I am so on board with this - everybody should be good to their aunts! (Why, yes - I'm an aunt. How did you know?)

And so home, after a wonderful two weeks' travelling and visiting and enjoying being in control of (but not obsessive or dysfunctional about) some pretty fine eating. Yes, it'll be interesting to see how you've gone - interesting. Keep your mind on that - it's not a matter for anxiety, but for calm and cheerful scientific assessment, by someone who's well in control of the lab. (No, I did NOT call you a lab rat! :p ) It's been a great two weeks - and a practice run for maintenance! :)

Yesterday was a good day, ate raisin brand for breakfast, no lunch, and for dinner I put a lot of salad without dressing and broccoli on my plate along with a small serving of chicken and dirty rice, its a Louisiana thing, basically baked chicken with a well spiced rice stuffing. And another cousin so another king cake, just a small piece, its Mardi Gras season, everyone has king cake. I got no babies from the king cakes, but the 4 year old cousin sitting next to me last night got it, I am sure she appreciated it more than I would have. Oh, and I had a beer, it came from a small brewery in Natchitoches, my mother's home town, had to have that.

At the airport now, will be home tomorrow to better calorie counts, cold, and the dreaded scale, we'll see how that goes.

I may be as curious to know what the scale says as you are - and I'm probably more excited about it. I am solidly impressed with how well you mastered your vacation food!

:iagree: with LaMa. I think you have balanced it all so well!

Rob I have a funny feeling the scales will not show anything drastic at all . That food looked absolutely fantastic.
I said it before and I say it again your discipline focus and commitment is truly amazing .
I am so pleased you had a truly amazing holiday and it sounds like you kept all the family happy

215 lbs, down 7 lbs since last weigh in (16 days ago). That's 105 lbs to date and I am now below 100 kgs, 97.5 kgs. I was shocked, I ate mostly what I wanted on the trip, maybe smaller portions, but what I wanted. I did skip a few meals, but that was to allow for more eating later. I am sure I'll be happy once the shock wears off.

Yesterday was a good day I had a small piece of quiche for breakfast, for lunch a salad without dressing and a small portion of gumbo (had to have gumbo on my last day in Louisiana), and then a salad with chicken on it and some crackers for dinner. Flew home late last night so I will be back to more my more regular diet and calorie counts today.

Thanks to everyone for the support, I feel like I have crossed a number of milestones at this weigh in, I could not have done it without y'all.

Rob as I mentioned before I would not be surprised If you lost weight and I am glad I was right .
7lb is absolutely massive loss . Congratulations
:party::party:
