Alligatorob's Diary

1024
a number that randomly makes me happy when it comes up unexpectedly.

The feeling Olga gets from Angel Number 1024 is surprised, weary, and shock. The purpose of Angel Number 1024 is summarized in these words: Market, Sketche, and Change.

That should explain all.

I think Olga needs Prozac.

It was a good day, I ate well and feel good. My calories add up to lighter than my plan, but I feel quite full right now, eating something else doesn't seem to make sense. I had a lot of broccoli for dinner and I put a lot of Tabasco on it, that always makes me feel full.

The Temple of Solomon was finished in about 940 BC. The temple housed the Ark of the Covenant, according to Hebrew 9:4 "The ark of the covenant [was] covered on all sides with gold, in which was a golden jar holding the manna, and Aaron's rod which budded, and the tablets of the covenant.". I've always wondered what manna was, and apparently its not clear. It is something to eat that comes from heaven, otherwise there is not a lot of agreement. According to the Babylonian Talmud the taste varying depending on who ate it, with it tasting like honey for small children, like bread for youths, and like oil for the elderly. So perhaps its calorie content may also vary, high for those in need, and low for folks trying to lose weight. Not sure where to get it, so it probably won't be on my menu any time soon.

It just feels like such a perfect number. Powers of two are satisfying anyway and a tenth power is like an ultraround number. That's all I've got, sorry :D
That made me laugh! That's such a great reason to love a number!!

Cheers for good old broccoli! I have chilli-soy sauce, lemon and sometimes butter on mine - I love it!
And I also loved that bit of Talmudic lore about the differing tastes of manna. (I have always imagined manna was something like the middle-eastern sweet called halva - the flaky-textured kind made from sesame seed - but maybe not quite as sweet.)

Rob your discipline never fails to amaze me .
broccolli is one of my fav vegs and I steam it mostly or add to a stir fry .

241, down 4 lbs, I am happy! Down 79 lbs so far.

This is my second 4 lb loss in a row, that's the most weight I have lost in 2 weeks since my first weigh in months ago. I have not been eating differently, the only differences I can see are in exercise. I am not riding the bike, but I know I have been getting more active in day to day things, not sure how that trades off. Its probably just the normal weight variability, in my favor this time. I was struck in the 250s for a while, getting through the 240s quickly may just be a leveling of things.

Last night my wife told me that I have stopped snoring, maybe that's weight loss related, but I am not sure. I have always slept pretty well, so I never really knew I snored.

LaMa, I am pretty sure you are a youth, to me anyway. Amy and Petal, broccoli is good food, I have always liked it, pre-diet I always had it with lots of cheese or some fat filled sauce. Now I find just steamed its still pretty good. Don't suppose we will ever really know what manna was, and its certainly possible the name refers to different foods at different times and in different sources. I agree with LaMa, fresh baked bread does seem to come from heaven.

Nice, Rob! I have fluctuations like this sometimes with exercise. When I stop for a bit my weight actually goes down.

Rob that is amazing . 8lbs In 2 weeks you must really notice it ?
funny I listen to a podcast and people swear they lose more weight the weeks they don’t exercise. I think it throws your body a bit when you change routine so it’s good to shake it up a bit . Good on you . Well done

If more than a million people needed 40 years for a distance they could've trekked in a couple of weeks manna was probably a cannabis-product :p

Not snoring anymore is great! Even if you used to sleep well it likely means there's less pressure on your airways while you're asleep.

Rob- 8 lbs in 2 weeks at this stage? Wow! Well done. You are so persistent & determined. Not snoring is a much better thing, both for you & your wife. That's a bonus.

It was a good day, I ate well and feel good.

8 lbs in 2 weeks at this stage?
Cate, I am also surprised, but guess I will just chalk it up to variability, no other good explanation. But I'll take it!

you must really notice it ?
I do, maybe not the last 2 weeks necessarily, but I really do feel a whole lot better than I did before. Easier to get around, easier to work around the house and yard, almost everything is getting easier. And just this morning I was thinking how much easier it is for me to get awake and going in the morning.

manna was probably a cannabis-product
Sounds good to me, maybe I can get some in Nevada now that its legal.

When I stop for a bit my weight actually goes down.
That could be the explanation, it really is the only thing I have changed.

In 1002 King Æthelred II the Unready ordered all Danes in England killed, and a lot of them were killed. However they came back and had their revenge, leading to Cnut the Great becoming King of England in 1016. The odd thing is that its called the St Brice's Day Massacre, the only massacre I know of named for a Saint. Turns out it is just because Æthelred ordered the massacre on November 13, which also happens to be the date of St Brice's feast. St. Brice lived in France more than 500 years before the massacre. St Brice is famous for being accused of impregnating his washerwoman, to clear himself he carried hot coals in his cloak without being burned and spent seven years in Rome finally getting the Pope's blessing.

France had the St. Bartholomew's day massacre in the 16th century.
If you start working out or increase your workout load your muscles retain water which they don't give up again until they either get used to the training load (maybe never if you're trying to progress and keep increasing) or you take s break from working out for s while.

I find all the work out weight gain and retention very confusing really .
another good day Rob . Would you not like salad with the sardines ? Are the fresh or tinned ?

That is really interesting. Is there a time-frame where they would be getting used to the training load if you don't keep increasing?

Too lazy to look it up so don´t quote me on it but I seem to remember 6 weeks or so. Probably more if the original increase was very high and less if it wasn´t a lot.

Yesterday was a mostly good day, but it didn't end as plan, the evils of alcohol got me. I had just 2 glasses of white wine last evening but it was enough to put me to sleep, I missed my evening snack and didn't get posted. Cutting back on my alcohol as much as I have along with the weight loss has sure made me a cheap drunk.

My trainer is in, will go to the bike shop and get it today, hopefully it will work and I can get back to exercising. Many years we have only a few weeks with snow on the ground, so I thought I could find a way to keep riding all winter.... Winter isn't even here yet and snow has already been on the ground 2+ weeks, it snowed a bit more yesterday, and more is forecast over the weekend.

Empress Zhong posthumously named Empress Guangmu died in 965. She was an empress consort to Li Jing and after his death empress dowager to her young son Li Yu. What was unique about Zhong was that despite having been raised and lived in extreme wealth and luxury she lead a relatively modest lifestyle and was generous to her subjects (not something very fashionable or common at the time). Whenever her husband, the emperor, rewarded her, she would first distribute the rewards to his concubines, and then to the other palace personnel. As Empress she reduced the amount of meals served in her palace, and forbid the playing of music for months.
