Alligatorob's Diary

Happy birthday Rob!

I’m sure you’ll be very happy with that bike. If you ride a small amount regularly (3-4 times a week) you’ll be amazed just how quickly you progress. You might even catch the cycling bug and before you know it you’ll be broke, living on the street out of a backpack BUT with a beautiful shiny carbon full bells and whistles bike!

Your wife sounds like a great lady too.

My eating turned out ok, but it wasn't a good day. We got a call in the wee hours of the morning, and I spent most of the day bailing my stepson out of jail on a DUI charge. My first time bailing anyone out of jail, and his first time being bailed out, not a good day. I got to meet and see some people I don't normally see today. The only other time I have ever been in a jail was visiting a person I knew almost 50 years ago. I am very much against drunk driving, and don't have a lot sympathy for him right now. Utah is not a great place for a DUI, laws are tough here. My wife is more upset than I am; I guess this will pass. I had to eat when and where I could but eating turned out ok.

Not sure I am up to history or trivia tonight.

I hope your stepson learned from his experience. Better to learn from a fine than from accidentally killing someone.

A bit of society trash talk about 1186: after the death of the child-king Baldwin V, his mother succeeds him as Sibylla of Jerusalem, and appoints her disfavoured husband Guy de Lusignan king consort. This comes as a shock to Jerusalem's court, who had earlier forced the possible future Queen into promising that should she become so, she would not appoint him the title. So sayeth Wikipedia.

I'm really sorry you all had such a tough day, Rob. May it be as LaMa says, with never again a repetition.

And thanks for stepping in with the history, LaMa! Goes to show to never believe a politician's promises.

Ah rob sorry to hear that and I'm sure it sounds like a one off . And now you can say you have bailed someone out of jail. I had a friend arrested for being drunk once . She was a school, teacher and it never happened again so I'm sure your step son is the same.

Your food sounds great . Well done .

Down 3 lbs this morning to 267. I am surprised after last week's 4 lb loss. But it passes my 3 day average so its real. That's 53 lbs lost so far. Its a good thing.

The stepson DUI saga got a lot stranger last night. He was with his girlfriend bar crawling and both claim to have a 2 to 3 hour memory black out. Both claim to have never blacked out before, and I think this is true for my stepson, don't know the girlfriend as well. Apparently he hit a parked car (no one was hurt) and kept going, a policeman saw it and managed to get him stopped and arrested him. Neither can remember the 2 hours leading up to the accident or the accident. They both now believe they were drugged by 2 men who had been following and bothering them in the bar. The one bit of evidence they have is that the stepson normally orders an Uber when he is too drunk to drive, and he did order an Uber but he did not get picked up, and there is a no show bill on his phone for a missed Uber. Both claim to remember ordering the Uber, but nothing again until after the accident. The other strange thing is that they are not the first to report this kind of thing in the area. Once they figured this out they called the police and reported it. I am not sure the police will believe them. In Utah even the first DUI carries minimum jail time, not just a fine, and with the accident and all it could be for a while. Their problem is that they were drunk when all this happened and probably have foggy memories even without the drugging. We'll see what happens, this is a strange thing.

Oh, that is not good at all. I hope someone witnessed their drinks being spiked. Very scary.

Thanks y'all, the dust is beginning to settle a little, stepson got a lawyer and they've begun the process. Thanks for listening to my non-food ranting, it helped. What I need to do is help him as best I can, and stay on track with my eating. I need to make sure they remain two unconnected things.

In 1021 Henry II, a Holy Roman Emperor invaded Italy, for the forth time, he crossed the Brenner pass from Austria into Italy with 60,000 men. I've driven and taken the train through the Brenner pass, it is a very impressive place. I imagine I had a better time of it than Henry's men did. Henry was a pretty active guy, multiple wars not only with Italy, but Poland and the Byzantine Empire as well.

Me eating birthday oysters, note the baggy shirt, just a few months ago that shirt was too small for me. oysters.JPG

Rob I read your update yesterday but just didn't have time to reply. Firstly congratulations on the weight loss . That's amazing . You are burning huge calories now with all your work in the yard and tending your orchards so the weight is literally dropping off you .

Glad your stepson got a lawyer but that really is scary stuff and I hope they do not get in serious trouble for it.
You look good and happy in your photo . Thank you for sharing .

Pears ! Will there be an abundance of pears . I love a salad with pears in it ?

You are swimming in that shirt & look very intent on eating those oysters. I just love oysters! Also a salad with pears & some blue cheese and nuts....yum. I love fruit in a salad. I must make some wonderful salads this Summer. We have our own walnuts that need cracking. That might be a fun job to do with the GK's.
What I need to do is help him as best I can, and stay on track with my eating. I need to make sure they remain two unconnected things.
I think you have this covered. I felt like drinking strong alcohol last night & resisted. Yesterday was not a good day. Tomorrow will be better!
