Alligatorob's Diary

Well done!

PS the lockdown probably has me a little rummy, but I am amusing myself imagining an alligator obstetrician...

Yesterday was a good day, I ate well, exercised and feel good this morning. Did 2 hours in the gym, tried to take it easy on the shoulder, however it is not getting better. I will keep an eye on it, may have to go to a real shoulder doctor if it doesn't get better. Have an appointment with the trainer this morning, will ask her about it.
Looking amazing, my friend! Maybe let your trainer have another look at your lifting form, just to be on the safe side
Yes, I plan to do that this morning.
Rob, you really do look great. I'm sure I'm not the only one enjoying you move into maintenance. You have got this.
Thanks Cate, but I guess I never really feel like I've "got it", more a work in progress.
woah you lost a lott of weight. can't recognize you from your old pfps. damn.
you don't even look your weight, you look thinner. lucky :beating:
Thanks Nelly, hard for me to imagine that I look "thin" or "thinner", first time in my life. I still am amazed every time I look in the mirror.
Wow, you are looking great!!!
Thanks Vic, nice of you to say. I am feeling pretty good about it.
Well done!

Thanks Err, and that is funny. The truth is I used to live on Alligator Drive in Alligator Point, Florida, and the ob is just from Rob. It was a fun address to have, got a lot of comments on it whenever I showed my driver's licence.
Well done rob . Do you need to go out and buy a whole new winter wardrobe now
Thanks Petal! I have already started buying new winter things, as I found them on sale this summer. Not that my "wardrobe" is very impressive, just a few new coats and jackets and some long pants (jeans). I do need a new suit and/or sports coat, if we ever start having face to face meetings again, will probably wait for that one.

Well a sports jacket is always a good addition to a wardrobe for a man I think .
sorry about the shoulder . Have you seen a physiotherapist. Mine did wonders last year for my heel . I had shoulder problems about 10 years ago . The pain was terrible . I had to stop Raised arm aerobics and decided to give it total rest . It worked . Not sure what problem was . Hope it’s better soon

Today was a good day, I ate well, exercised and feel good tonight! Did an hour and 30 minutes in the gym, but my shoulder is not getting better. I may go easy for a few days, may not go to the gym tomorrow. I have an appointment with a shoulder specialist on Tuesday to see what it is. Food is ok, I am still adjusting to the higher calories, but am ok.

Maybe I need to do the same with my shoulder, I don't want to I can feel my muscles are improving, but I don't want to do any damage to the shoulder. We'll see what the specialist says, until then I am going to be careful with exercises that stress it.

I may go ahead and get a sports coat, at this point I don't expect to get any smaller so no risk of it not fitting. The last new sports coat I bought got worn twice and I shrunk out of it.

Shoulder problems are usually something like inflammation > swelling > impingement > pain > coordination worsening > more impingement, swelling, and pain. A week of rest won't hurt your muscles and will probably help. Sometimes that's enough, if not there's usually something off about your movements.

Today was a good day, I ate well, got a little exercise, and feel good tonight. Had the grandkids over for a bbq and s'mores, I only ate one hamburger patty, very lean, from that. Exercise was limited to mowing the lawn and some yard work. I mow most of the lawn with a riding mower, no exercise there, but I mow around the edges and in hard to reach places with the old push mower. That is work.

Thanks LaMa, I think that is exactly my problem. I had a really bad bout of bursitis in that shoulder about 20 years ago, this feels much the same, not a bad yet and my objective is to keep it not as bad. I had x-rays done back then and the doctor showed me some bone damage from an old injury that was the cause, that same damage is probably still there.
Sounds like a rest is a good idea Rob
Thanks Petal, and I did get some rest today. I kept busy all day, but nothing like a gym workout.

I'm glad you had that burger patty, lean or not. Shows you're starting to reintegrate yourself into normal society.

Yes agree with Lama . And time with the grandkids is good . Will you have many more lawn cuts to do Rob . We probably have about 6 then maybe a November one if it’s dry .

Today was a good day, I ate well (lots of peaches), got some exercise and feel good tonight. Finished the canoe/kayak rack, it was a lot of work, no gym workout but a lot of work. The rack is quite heavy as we have a lot of wind and a canoe can act as a kite, the rack needs weight and strength. And being an engineer from hurricane country I probably over built. Room for 3 canoes, but I have only one, and a kayak not yet on the rack. Picture below.

I guess, but the integration seems to be going slowly. Not sure I was ever a full card carrying member of "normal society", or that its one of my goals now, LOL!

That's about what we have, the last mowing is usually in October. A few left, but not many. All I have to do to make it dry here is turn the sprinkler system off... Bbq with the grandkids was fun.

Yesterday was a good day, I ate well got a little (not much) exercise, and feel good this morning. I am still on the high peach diet, I am thinking it will last another week or so. Next Wednesday we are headed off for a week's vacation, renting a houseboat on Lake Powell in southern Utah (Economy Houseboat Rentals at Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas in AZ & UT) and I think the peaches will be done by the time we return. Its been a good run, and not over yet, but the end is in sight.
Glad you had a good time with the GK's, Rob. Love the canoe rack!
Thanks Cate, it was fun with the grandkids. Yesterday the 13 year old came back over and helped me with things. We got a good boat washing done, and I had him move the four wheeler (maybe you call them quads?) a couple of times. Apparently he had never driven one so it was fun.
Now you sound like my dad. Also... nice rack.
Yeah, beginning to sound like mine too! Not sure if you meant the rack comment the way it sounds to me, but you are pretty language savvy so you probably did. I got a good laugh out of it. Urban Dictionary: nice rack
That's a very impressive build Rob . Hope your shoulder did not irritate when building .
Thanks Petal, the shoulder did hurt a bit but not too bad. I just remember how bad it got 20 years ago and fear a recurrence. So far not nearly that bad.

It was a good day, I ate well and feel good tonight, however no real exercise. Back to the gym tomorrow morning, then to the shoulder doctor in the afternoon. Hoping I get an ok to continue weight training, but I want the doctor's ok.
You sound like a fun granddad.
Thanks LaMa, I try to be.

I bet the peaches taste all the better for knowing they're not always available. Fingers crossed for the doctor and please don't overdo it at the gym!
