Alligatorob's Diary

Can you go canoeing somewhere near you? It's so much fun and great exercise.

Just to nag a little: I remember you saying you´d up your calories if you lost further weight and you´ve hit two lower points since then...

It was a good day, I ate well, got some exercise and feel good tonight. My exercise was limited to yard work and maintenance around the house, but tomorrow I'll be back to the gym.
What a very productive day, Rob!
Thanks Cate it was, feels good to get things done around the house.

I should but the canoe is old, I have had it many years, an old heavy aluminum one and just a lot of work to move around. Right now I don't have much way to haul it either.
Well done on the fantastic day work Rob .
Thanks Petal, and it does feel good. Not so long ago I could not have done so much.

Yes, and I have a little, I am now targeting the mid 1500s, up about 50 calories. But I am not sure this is real weight loss, or just some lower bouncing. We'll see.

:) I say if your lowest weight drops twice within a couple of weeks that's indicative of a real loss. I'm glad you're slowly going up with your calories and I hope your confidence will keep growing.

I am at 159 again this morning so I have decided to up my calorie goal again. I am going to 1600, will probably try to stay just under for a while anyway. Just have to see how it goes. Thanks for your advice (and "nagging") LaMa, it is appreciated. As is everyone's here.

I love how positive you are - that's something I should mimic...
I try to be, but I am being honest, most days are good days.
Could your old canoe be turned into a garden bed or a decorative feature, Rob?
For example-

Cate, that is a great boat table thing! I like that sort of thing, but old wooden boats are getting hard to find. Mine is aluminum and would not be so nice. And it still works fine, just a bit too big and awkward for me now. If I had a trailer I might use it again.
That’s a super storage idea Cate .
I agree Petal.
Congratulations!
Thanks! I guess I think its progress. I still have to fight off the feeling I am overeating, but weighing every day and not seeing weight gain helps.

And thanks Cate and Liza, it does seem to be working.

Another good day, I ate well (though 1600 calories sure feels like a lot), exercised and feel good tonight. Did an hour and 55 minutes at the gym, it was enough. My shoulder has been bothering me so I went to a doctor, he thinks I may have bursitis, he's probably right. He gave me a cortisone shot and I am hoping that's all I need. I have bursitis in the same shoulder about 20 years ago, and a cortisone shot worked then, so I am optimistic. He suggested taking it a little easier on my shoulders at the gym for a while, but said so long as it doesn't hurt to much I can do most anything I want. In reality the pain is less when weight lifting than when just moving around, it may hurt for a rep or two, but then the pain goes away. Guess I will take it a little easy for a while.
it must be funny to see a calorie increase as a victory right now but it really is.
Yes, it does feel quite strange, but I know you are right and I am trying to see it as a victory.
I wish I had that problem :rotflmao:
Congratulations Rob
Thanks Petal, I think I like your approach better just maintaining with some slow weight loss. If I had done that sooner I would not have had the hard stop. But I don't regret things, losing the weight has been a great experience for me. Now I am trying to make keeping it off another one.

Oh I took a picture today and wanted to replace my avatar picture. However it only let me put the top half on. Here is the whole thing:
