Hello everyone! My new year's resolution was to lose weight and i stumbled on this site and it seems like a great resource for me to get tips to stay motivated!

Currently:
I am 19 years old, 5'4, 135 pounds. I am only 15 more pounds away from my goal of 120 pounds. I mainly want to lose weight in my stomach and in my legs.

I feel like this is going to be very difficult for me, first of all, because I am an extremely picky eater. And second, because I’m in college and it’s hard to find healthy foods and resist the temptation of all the junk that they serve. The plus side of being in college though, is that I have access to the gym, which I am taking full advantage of. :)

In the past:
I was doing the weight watchers program on and off for about 3 years and i lost 15 pounds.


Questions:
How much weight do you want to lose?

15 pounds
What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?
By June, 5 months

How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?
Working out, being conscious of what I'm eating.

Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
I'm mostly going to rely on this website; I don't really what to tell my friends about my diet.

How realistic is your goal?
I think it’s pretty realistic. There is plenty of time to learn what works and what dosen't.

When will you start?
I actually have already started on Jan. 12th, my first day back to college. Although I have cheated a little bit on the weekends. But since then, I have completely given up diet soda, which I believe is an achievement.

Today's Diet:

2:00 pm – Small Orange & Fruit Cup (160 calories)
3:00 pm – Fruit Loops (200) (no milk)
4:00 pm - Granola Bar (140)
6:00 pm - Fruit Loops (200) (no milk)
8:00 pm – turkey wrap, chips, banana, raspberry tea
I also might have a small snack later

Today's Exercise:
I did half hour on the elliptical machine and burned about 400 calories.
I also did 90 crunches, and 80 bicycle crunches.
And I also stretched for about 10 minutes.

Short Term Goals:
February 20th – 131 Pounds
March 6th -127 Pounds
March 13th - 125 pounds

This Week's Goal: Drink water at dinner.

What a day today, not terrible, but I’ve definitely had better.

So I went to bed early last night. Kinda had a fight with my boyfriend and didn’t feel like being on the computer anymore. I accidently set my alarm to 8:15 pm instead of am. :banghead: Oh well. I woke up around 9 because someone sent me a text message thank god. So I rushed in the shower, stopped at the library to print something out, and actually made it to my class 5 minutes early. :coolgleamA: Obviously, I didn’t have time for breakfast, so I ate when I got back to my room around 11 after I did some errands.

After class I went to the gym for about an hour. When I was finished all I wanted to do was take a shower. I came back to my room… and locked. I had forgotten my key. I quickly found my other roommate to ask if she had her key and she said no. So I waited in the hall for about 45 minutes until my 3rd roommate came back from class. Then, as soon as she unlocked the door, the fire alarm went off. Lol So I had a crazy day but it could be worse right?

– Fruit Cup and Applesauce (160 calories)
12:00 pm - Fruit Loops (200) (no milk)
2:00 pm – Granola Bar (140)
6:00 pm – Turkey Wrap, few chips, apple, raspberry tea
Probably will have a small snack later

Today's Exercise:
1 Hour on the elliptical machine (700)

Another thing, I'm not so much of a meat eater, but i what I have found is that turkey isn't so bad and i feel pretty full for a long time when i eat it. :)

Day 3!

My first class was canceled yay! :) I slept in because I wasn’t feeling well. My stomach was hurting really bad this morning, don't know why. Finally got up around 11:30, showered and ate breakfast. I went to my tutor and then to my Spanish class. It was a little busy today so I kinda forgot to eat lunch.

Wasn’t really feeling the gym today, but I went anyways. I was about 15 minutes into my workout when my iPod died. And believe me, it is so much harder to work out without music. :cuss: Since I wasn’t really giving my best effort and still didn't feel good, I decided I would give it 15 more minutes and call it quits. Then like 5 minutes later I got an “I love you” text from my boyfriend :beating: and it inspired me to keep going :) I finished out the hour and actually stayed 10 extra minutes.

A few things I’m concerned about;
#1
Am I eating ok? I mean, I know a lot of the things I’m eating aren’t exactly the healthiest (chips, fruit loops, etc.) but I used to eat like fast food EVERYDAY, so is this at least a good start? I only get one meal a day from the dining hall so my biggest challenge is finding healthy, non-perishable foods for my other meals. I only have a microwave and I only have a tiny tiny tiny little fridge. Anyone have any ideas of what I can do & is this an ok start? As soon as this semester is over I will definitely be able to eat a lot healthier, it’s just while I’m here it’s difficult. (But I have been going to the gym more than I ever had before in my life, so maybe it cancels out? I don’t know) In the summer I’m thinking about joining Weight Watchers again, I don’t know we’ll see.

#2 I’m going home tomorrow for the weekend! I’m really excited to see all my family and friends I haven’t seen in forever but I’m a little worried about the food situation. When I’m at home I tend to not eat healthy at all. My family goes out to eat a lot and I already know my mom is planning on taking me out to my favorite little Italian place on Saturday. But the plus side is that I can go shopping for some more (healthy) food for my room and I plan to use the trendmill while im home. If anyone has any food ideas or suggestions I’d really appreciate it!

Oh and a question! What exactly is a BMR? The ammount of calories your body burns off naturally with no exercise?

Good for you and your healthy decisions. I remember how hard it was to make healthy choices in the college cafeteria. Mine had a soft serve ice cream machine..That tripped me up some. 15lbs is very managable you can do that in no time if you focus....Best wishes...Lots of nice people on here that will help ya

Thanks brawny! We also have an ice cream machine so i know how you feel.

Today was a bad day... like i predicted. :banghead: I ran out of fruit so i decided to skip breakfast this morning. I know thats bad but I only had cookies in my room and I wasn't really feeling them. I didn't make the gym today because i was so busy packing and preparing to come home. I figured its ok on firdays to not work out because i have dance practice for 2 hours. After dance my mom came and picked me up and took me to Friendly's, my favorite restuarant and so i got dinner and ice cream. :cry: I think i gave in so easily was beacause at dance we had try outs today and im not so sure i gave it my best :( so i was kinda bummed... but we'll see. But i did drink water at the restuarant, which shows how deicated i am to giving up soda. :)
My mom told me we are going out for dinner for a birthday tommorow, i'll try my best to find something healthy. And on sunday we are going out for dinner again. :banghead: I guess i'll just have to start up hardcore again on monday...

So I wieghed myself this morning, and i lost one pound!!!! :hurray: I know its not much but if i didn't have such a big dinner last night, maybe it would have been more? Anyways im excited only 14 more pounds to go.

I got this 2 pound hula hoop, and i tried it for the first last night and man am i sore this morning. I'm not sure if its my muscles that are sore or if im starting to get bruises.

well im gonna go run for a bit. I'll post later, Have a nice day everyone! :)

Well, my intention today was to do good. We went out for lunch for a birthday and i got a salad. But i also had birthday cake and ice cream, and i went to sonic with my brother. :( soo not so good of a day. On the plus side, i ran a mile and a half with out stoping. :) Which is good because i didn't know i could do that. I ended running another half mile and walking a mile as well.

hm.. Another bad day. I acutally skipped lunch and breakfast this morning because i knew we were going out to eat later. I don't know if thats a good or bad thing. oh well Tommorow's monday, a new start. Oh and i weighed myself again and i gained the pound back :(

This time i want to try something new. I'm going home again in 2 weeks and i want to set a goal for then. I know it's gonna be hard but i really want to try to weigh 131 by Friday the 20th.

LOL, i love that yo did 30 min of hula hoop. I didn't even think of that for exercise, I'm gonna see if I can dig mine out of the garage.

Don't be so hard on yourself, every day is new, and you have had some successes. Congrats on kicking the soda habit. That's really hard to do for a lot of people. Keep your head up.

Hi Jesca! How are you? I love to hula hoop, and it’s a two pound hula hoop so it really is a workout lol. Thanks so much for the support I really appreciate it!!!


Ok so since today is Monday, a fresh new week, I’m going to start doing some things differently. I want to make a weekly goal for myself each week. I think I'll start posting it every day to remind myself. Another thing I want to do is really start counting calories but i need some help. I’m a little confused about how many calories I need every day to lose like 2 pounds a day. My BMR is 1446.2, so I know I need to be eating at least that, and I know some how you need to factor in amount of exercise and how much you want to lose each week. Can anyone help me?

I also added some goals at the top of my first post. I'll post back later!

Ok so i came up with some goals. :)
February 20th – 131 Pounds (Home)
March 13th - 125 pounds (Spring Break Trip)
April 19th - 120 pounds (Dance recital)

This week's goal:Drink only water for dinner! :)

Ok, now that all that is out of the way... Today was a pretty good day, I felt full all day. I decided to up my calorie intake to at least my bmr, which is 1453.7, because I haven't lost any weight by eating only 1000 calories. Also I’m going to eat more fruits and veggies :) I got lots of food when i when home so I’m good to go!

I'm still feeling pretty guilty about the weekend. :( I’ll get over it.

Pretty good day today! I got to sleep in today. :) And I got a 100 on my math test!!! :coolgleamA: One of my classes had a pizza party, and I was a good girl and didn't eat any instead I brought crackers and a granola bar so I wasn't even tempted. hmm what else... Still not sure if I’m eating enough, but at least I’m eating more then I used to.

Day 12!

I’m posting early tonight because I’m probably going to go to bed early. I’m so exhausted today. I feel like I have no energy at all. I’m not sure if I’ve been doing too much exercise or this busy week is finally starting to take its toll on me. Anyways, I had to wake up at 7 am today so I could make it to the post office before work at 10. (They have a post office here on campus but I like to walk to the farther one. Also it’s been so unusually warm the past few days so I wanted to take advantage of the nice weather.) Maybe this is just my imagination, but my clothes feel a little looser, and my pants keep falling down as I was walking to the post office. It feels really good.

Really really really wasn’t feeling the gym today. But I forced myself to go, don’t know why. I didn’t put much effort into it. After class I came straight back to my room and put my pj’s on. I think I’m going to just relax in my room and tackle my mountain of homework tonight, maybe watch a movie but I’m definitely going to be early tonight. ;)

Btw, so far so good with this week’s goal!

Hi, Thank you! Sometimes when i don't have an early class I sleep in really late. I love to sleep haha. But i always eat something within an hour after I wake up. Thanks for the support! :D

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!!!

I'm a little sad I won't get to see my boyfriend today. :cry: I think i'll just stay in bed and watch movies all day and maybe take a walk later.
 
Day 14!

bad bad bad bad bad girl last night. There something about the weekends that always causes me to cheat. I was doing fine in the morning, but then why the time dinner rolled around i didn't make healthy choices. I was planning on just eating a light dinner in my room but when i was done i made myself believe i was still hungry and went to the cafeteria. oh and no exercise either. :(


And i didn't make my weekly goal either, i drank sweet tea with dinner. :( So im starting over for today.

Today i woke up around 1, watched a movie and went back to sleep and didn't wake up until around 7. Then i did homework and watched another movie lol I feel so unproductive.
