Weight-Loss ACCOUNTABILITY CONTEST - Bonus Idea Thread

Weight-Loss
If we can eat all our nutrients and still have enough calories / points / syns or whatever left over to incorporate a little indulgence into the plan - we should go ahead and enjoy them without guilt.

Amen, sister (as they say hereabouts). :)

I also think it's an important skill to be able to enjoy in moderation when the social situation calls for it. Gloomily eyeballing everyone else's pizza while eating a small dry salad is a pretty miserable experience - and the people around you are going to get the impression that you're no fun to be with. Tossing your plan to the wind and eating half a pizza yourself makes it harder to get back on plan the next meal. But if you can focus on contributing to the conversation (which means your mouth is mostly busy talking, not eating) so that you pace your slice or two to last as long as others are eating, you'll probably stay within your calorie targets while being fun to be around and not feeling deprived.

Ally - if I feel like joining everyone with fattier foods - ie pizza I will have a piece or two and a salad...which is an ok balance I think...like you said it isnt half a pizza :)

Margaret - I know it jsut sucks tha tI have done so much and still dont loose...it is depressing - lol and a horrible downer...but all I can do is keep on doing what I am doing.

I know just how you feel Cerella. I tried so many times to lose weight over the past twenty years and never really seemed to get anywhere. That is why I throw myself so much into the excessive walking thing. It is the first thing that I have hit on that actually seems to make things work for me.

I know that the problem is not your exercise level - as I know that you do a lot of exercise. I am simply saying that I know only too well how you feel - and I agree - it can be unbelievably depressing. Keep on doing what you are doing. Dont be silly like I was at your age - and just give up. You would regret doing that.

:) Ya I wont quite im doing this for me and kids...it is funny cuz I dont feel fat ya know...I guess cuz Im active and lead a healthy and bisy life...mentally I dont feel fat so it is always a slap in the face to realize I am...eventually i want to move on with my life and date and find a man but I can't do that till im happy with how I look. It isnt abt gettin a man it is abt my comfortability and how I feel abt my self image.

I am role modeling for 2 girls - I want to be the best role model I can be...my youngest doesn't think things are right unless we are constantly on the go...she wakes up every morning asking me what she is doing and where we are going today - LOL

It sounds like you gave birth to an ideal personal trainer for you there! She is always there nagging and keeping you active! You are so lucky to have her.

Many of us know what you mean when you say that you dont feel fat.

When I was at my biggest I didnt always feel as big as I was. I used to sometimes bump into things because I didnt judge right how big I was.

Then when I was down to your size - I had lost weight and was feeling quite slim. Everything is comparitive.

It is mainly when people say something about size (either being nasty and rude or just being thoughtless in their comments) that I used to feel fat.

Being comfortable with our bodies and our self image is another thing again. I have lost a lot of weight now - but I still have some huge self image issues to deal with.

You are a good mother to aspire towards giving your daughters the best possible role model. They are fortunate to have you.

This is just an idea for a bonus that i had. Feel free to tell me its daft but i want to make it a personal daily target so thought that maybe other people might...maybe not tho!

To help skin stay firm (and avoid the dreaded loose skin) dematoligists advise moisturising thoroughly every day - especially areas like upper arms and stomach...generally anywhwere that you think requires a little help! So i though that we could do that. Im intending to try it anyway but thought i would throw it out there! Not sure how the men folk would feel abt it!

I like the idea Tink, I already do that actually :) But I think you're right about the menfolk :p

Another idea...

I have these things I would like to spend my free time on, but whenever I'm free I just don't seem to get around to them.

I think everyone should pick one thing (reading, a beauty routine, meditation, stretches), something that you've always wanted to incorporate into your life....

And then do it, for that one week. Every day spend at least 30 mins doing the thing you love to do (dancing, singing, writing, drawing, walking with the dogs, springcleaning, whatever makes YOU happy :))

What do you guys think?

I had already mentioned that idea:DIt is a good one!

I have another idea...to add and work on protein, I know for me I dont get enough...and am not very aware of it...

Oops, sorry Cinderelly, missed that!

I thought of some more things I want to do daily:

Floss my teeth
Work on a belly dance move

I think I'll start doing these things now :)

My bonus challenge starting 7/7 will be to drink 100 oz. of water per day and exercise for a minimum of 45 min at least 5 days between Monday and Saturday.

I had a new treadmill delivered on Friday (a Tunturi T60 - ).

The new thing that I will do this week is walk an average of 2 miles each day on my treadmill. I normally do a lot of outdoor walking. It will do me no harm to get to grips with the functionality so that I learn what it has to offer.

I am going to avoid diet soda's this week, and get up and do some kind of exercise everyday. I have been slacking off- and need to kick the diet coke I have been drinking the past few days all the time.

HI

Im going to ensure i do 4 hours of yoga this week (a new class which im trying)

Sarah

Hi everyone!

Bonus challenge starting 7/7

Foodwise: I will eat no more than 1250 kcal per day.
Exercisewise: I will do, at least, my 1h15mins aerobics DVD everyday.

This challenge came at exactly the right time, really need something to keep me motivated this week!

Good luck everybody!

new and lost

ok what determines who is on what team?? I just signed up for the July challenge... but how do I know who I am with and against??? :ack2:

I am doing a two part challenge for myself this week. Part one is NO added salt to anything. (I throw it in things as simple as eggs sometimes, NO MORE OF THAT!) And I am also going to drink 100oz of water every day. I've gotten lazy with the water and need to kick myself back into gear.

~ Challenge starting 7/7~

Food wise - No more than a cup of soda for every two glasses of soda. (Say I drink two cans of soda, I need to drink at least four glasses of water)
No sugary foods unless counteracted with a vegetable. (Not fruit, as fruit is sugary, fruit counts as a counteraction to its self. ^_^)

Exercise wise - I'm going to exercise through the list of music I have in my favorite list on YouTube each day... I think my list is almost 2hrs long... It can be a mix of dancing, stretching, running (with my dog in the yard, listening to my iPod), and indoor walking (Our neighbor hood is unsafe to walk, even with my dog)... Any exercise... ^_^

So my challenge is to balance my food properly, and do an hour to two of exercise a day, if not more.. ^_^

Oh and I'm going to keep a notepad, so I know exactly all my stuff..

Welcome to the forum.
The teams were allocated when the challenge started in May. There will be new challenges starting soon that you will be able to join - and some challenges allow people to join at any time. Challenges involving teams very rarely accept new entrants after initial sign-up.
