ABBAgirl's Diary

Hey there friend!! It sounds like your feeling better, or at least getting there slowly, I'm glad!! You've done so well on your weight loss this far, I have no doubt you did not put on 6lbs, you probably kept them off and then some!! Don't worry about your hair either, just remember they have a lot of new items on the market to help people with thinning hair, OR hair extensions and fillers too. Heck, I've seen some really sweet looking wigs or partial wigs out there also, I was tempted myself to buy one and wear it for awhile just to give myself a new look, without cutting what I have. I know it's got to be hard for you, but just remember your not alone, and I'm sure your family and friends love you just the way you are!! Which I have no doubt is very beautiful! I'm in shock over how you went down to a size 10 already, DANG that's fantastic!!! weight watchers is awesome, as I said before my sis used it to and it worked so good for her. Well, I hope you keep feeling better an better each passing day, and i hope your next weigh in shows great results!! Keep up the fight, you'll make it, YOU WILL!!!!
Hugs!
Kim

Thanks for the encouragement, Kim. I go for my weigh in at noon today. My daughter just came home from school, still not quite well enough I guess, so she'll be coming along for the weigh-in!

Today is a crazy busy day for me. My eldest is having a big slumber party tonight for her 11th b-day, and our house is ...er...not exactly spiffy just yet. In addition to cleaning the upstairs and doing a mountain of laundry and dishes, the basement (party HQ) still requires vacuuming and final touches. However, as the party is hers, I believe I will let her handle that! I spent a ridiculous amount of $ yesterday buying snack food for the 10 'tweens who will be here overnight! Good thing b-days come but once a year...

At any rate, I will post how my weigh-in goes. If I have managed to hold even, or even just gain a pound or so, I'll be okay with it.

Hi Janice

Fingers crossed that the weigh-in goes just right. Let us know

Take care

Hey Janice, hope your weigh in went well and that you and your kids getting back to feeling good soon. I know how hard it is when our kids are sick. When my son is sick things always get put on the back burner till he's better. I am getting back into college though. I just signed the paperwork today. so i'm super excited about that. hope things are well with you.

Congrats on your return to College! I loved post secondary. Though I am currently content in my career as a Medical Transcriptionist, I may finish off the last 2 yrs of my arts degree at some point. I hate leaving things undone (which sadly seems to be the lot of all mothers! LOL). You are sure going to be busy...remind me again what degree/diploma/certificate you are pursuing?

Anyhoo, as for weightier matters (get it), I did not end up getting to go for my weigh in, as my kid was just too sick to go. That's okay, I'll be going this Friday. My eldest daughter's slumber party went swimmingly, but I am glad it's over. Too much stress and I am still not fully recovered from the shingles.

After spending far too much time on the 'puter researching health related issues (PCOS, autoimmune disorders, etc.) I have decided to try drinking a tonic 2 x daily of 2 tsp apple cider vinegar mixed with 2 tsp raw honey in a cup of water. Apparently ACV is supposed to shrink cellular inflammation, which (according to health nuts) is the root of all things evil in our bodies. Honey is also very healthy for you. In addition, I am going to take Kelp daily to get in some extra B vits (at least I think that's what it is). My nerves are shot to heck these days.

I am pleased to say that I do look slimmer when I look in the mirror. It is a treat to fit smaller sizes. I am desperate to get healthy, stop my hair loss, get rid of my facial rash & acne, kiss PCOS goodbye, and cure my arthritis!

Hi Janice

I am sorry that your kid is still ill. Weighing can wait.

We all want to kiss PCOS goodbye. What part of your new supplements are designed to do that - because I will try them too.

Take care

Margaret, I don't know about the things ABBA is taking, but I take chromium and gymnema sylvestre supplements for my PCOS. It may be coincidental, but I regained natural bleeds (not provera induced) about 2 months after I started my supplement regimen. My sugar levels have balanced and my liver enzymes were decreased. Some of this is probably the weight loss, but I contribute a lot to the supplements also, as I had only lost 10 lbs or so when the bleeds started back up. (They aren't true menses, as I don't ovulate, but at least the lining is shedding without help.)

hi ABBAgirl...

just thought I'd stop by. I like reading your posts...they are all upbeat and funny!

congratulations on the 30+ pounds loss!

Thanks for stopping by, Kristi! Gee, you look so pretty already...you will be just GORGEOUS at your goal weight, I'm sure!

So, after being housebound for 2 weeks with shingles, then all of last week with a sick kid at home, guess what happened with my OTHER kid in the middle of the night? :puke: Yup, that about sums it up. So I will not be leaving the house at all until DH comes home from work. *sigh* And it is such a lovely Fall day outside! Aah, the joys of motherhood...

I am very curious as to what the WW scale will say when I go in to get weighed this week. I didn't get to go last week due to sick kid #1, but I am bound and determined to go this week!

I am finding that it is pretty easy to drink the apple cider vinegar if I mix it with an equal (or less) amount of honey in my warm water. It's kind of like a cross between tea and apple cider if I do it that way. I am expecting to reap all kinds of health benefits from it. Plus I continue to drink my protein shakes, and try to get in at least 2 L of water. :ack2: Yeesh! It's a wonder I have any room in my tummy for FOOD!

Hi Janice

Good luck at the scales. I am sure that you will not need it though.

Let us know how it goes.

Take care

Hey there!! ***throwing some healing power your way**** hope the family is all feeling better really soon. Sorry about the other child and I hope you don't catch it. Good luck on your next weigh in, I'm sure you will see a loss.

HUGS TO YOU!

we must keep pushing foreward before impending holidays trap us.

Ain't that the truth, Lady. I loooove baking, esp. for Christmas: gingersnaps, butter tarts, brownies, sugar cookies...oh, and let's not forget EGGNOG, that :eh: staple of Christmas drink! My daughters like to bake with me; they have their own aprons too! So it is a good thing I seem to have my sweet tooth under control. As long as I get in adequate protein (plus drown in all of the water, apple cider vinegar, whey shakes, and coffee that I drink daily) I am not overly tempted with the sweets these days. That is also one reason I really enjoy the WW programme; I truly can eat whatever I want, so long as I alot for it. Everything counts, so I just make sure I reaaaaally want a sweet, and eat a small portion of it. I have been known to cut my brownies in half, as well as truly serving up "a sliver" of cake (much to the disappointment of my kids & DH!).

MARGARET:
I think a while back you asked about me drinking the Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV). From what I have read, it is supposed to help restore your body to more of an alkaline balance, thereby helping to reduce inflammation. I can tell you that, after drinking it 2x daily for the last 4 days or so, my shingles pain is virtually nil! This is a great relief. I realize the pain would diminish on its own, but it is interesting how it has coincided with the ACV, and so quickly! It is also to help with my arthritis, among other things. I am also taking kelp in the hopes that it may help with my hair loss.

All for now
Janice

Hi Janice

Thanks for the info.

I am pleased that the ACV seems to be working for you.

I wonder if the ACV would help my husband. He gets gout - and it sounds like it could be worth a try.

Good luck with the kelp.

Hi Margaret
My sympathies to your beloved regarding gout. I had it after the birth of my first child, AND IT WAS HORRID! Very painful whenever any sheets or clothing rubbed over my skin. Unbelievable. I was just 26 at the time, and not overweight. Looking back, that is one of the first things in my body that went wonky and makes me think lupus may be behind everything! At any rate, ACV is purported to be helpful for gout; I don't know, as I have (thankfully) not had gout again. But ACV is very cheap, which is nice. You should read up on it a bit, in case there are contraindications against taking it with certain health problems.

Blessings
Janice

CONGRATS on the 3 pds down, YEAH!!! Your doing so good!! I love baking also, so the holidays are so much fun for me! I figure if I work out really hard and maybe throw in an extra day of exercise the week of baking, it will be alright if I nibble a little here and there. LOL LOL

Good luck this week!!!!

Kim

Hi Janice

Thanks for the further info.

I will certainly do some reading up as you suggest.

My poor husband has been getting gout since he was in his twenties. It is a real nuisance for him. It has caused damage to not just his toes - but the side of his foot and ankle too. Walking awkwardly has caused damage to his knees too - so it means that long distance walking isnt really an option for him to help him to lose weight. He really pushes himself to walk a bit with me most days.

Take care

Well, a great day so far. I went for a good walk after dropping the littles off at school, then stopped by my Mum's place and picked her up for our daily walk together. After that, we came home to watch Biggest Loser. So inspirational. I really enjoy that show, though I know not everyone does.

Today I work from 3-11, so I am just enjoying the peace and quiet of my empty house at the moment. It is relatively tidy and I only have laundry on the go. This morning I took a good hour or so and tried on EVERY pair of pants, skirt, dress, and shorts that I still own. By the time I was done, I had a laaaaarge pile to go to the consignment store! I am only keeping a couple of pieces from my starting weight, so I can take a pic of myself with them once I reach goal and show all of you! I bought a dress for DH Christmas party, and it is a SIZE 10 , which feels stupendous! It is snug but not too tight, and I will feel glam in it when I wear it for Dec. 1.

I hope I have lost another pound or so this week. I'd like to be down another 4 or 5 by CHristmas, when we see all of hubby's relatives whom we haven't seen since August.

Cheers
Janice
