ABBAgirl's Diary

Hi Janice

Good luck at the scale.

The Disneyland trip sounds something brilliant to look forward to. I am sure that you will all have a wonderful time.

I'm pleased that you are getting some good weather. We were getting good weather - but it has turned damp so I am back in trousers. It was fun wearing shorts for a week or so.

I'm pleased that you are getting tons of pleasure from wearing your new tiny clothes. I'll bet you are getting lots of positive comments from the people at work.

Take care
Love
Margaret

:rant:Well !@#$ to the nasty scales at WW !! :reddevil: They registered a slight gain, when my own showed a loss, so I had my hopes up! The morning of weigh in after working out my scale showed me once again at 154 - then at weigh in it showed me at 157.2. :banghead: I obviously need to change something, either in my diet (maybe need to be eating more, or more protein), or else I might need to add something/change something to my workout. Personally, I think it is all :icon_bs:. I like my workout and I don't want to change it! *sigh*

Okay, I am now officially done with whining and complaining. Just thought I should share that with all of you, instead of just my poor, clueless, SKINNY husband.:hat:

Here's to a better week,
ABBA

Hey ABBA! Long time no read - sorry to hear about the counseling thing but I sincerely hope it is going to help you and your DH get through the problems that you have. And GOOD GRIEF chica a size 5!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That is AWESOME, and you continue to inspire me to work on hitting my goals as well. The heck with WW weigh-ins, you are continuing to see results no matter what they say!! :p

Howdy Heather! Thanks for stopping by! Yup - size 5 pretty much makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, all right. Mind you, just because I can fit into skirts that size by no means indicates that I could fit pants that size - yet. My pants now are pretty much a small to medium, size 8 to 10. Depends on the cut, and the time of month! :banghead:

I continue to do my pretty much daily treadmill routine. Lord have mercy should that poor old beastly machine break down! LOL I am convinced it is the fact that I keep it on the steepest setting that causes me to sweat up such a flood.
And yes, even though the WW scales are not cooperating, I can see in how my clothes fit that I am continuing to whittle away at my waist - thank the good Lord! DH did make a lovely comment about my *ahem* tiny bum, which set me to laughing out loud, as I see that it is still FAAAAR from tiny! However, at least my bottom is getting more into line with matching my top, giving me that hourglass shape that I enjoy ever so much more than the pear shape, which I am so sick of. Sadly, my bras are now all much too big:nopity:, but at least with all of me shrinking, I am still somewhat in proportion.

As for marriage counseling, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! I am very fortunate to have a Dh who actually is open to it, as most fellas aren't. It is painful at times, but I find it very helpful to just be able to get an outsider's perspective (not to mention one who is very experienced and educated on relationships). I feel true hope about being able to improve my marriage for the first time in several years, which makes me very happy. I love my DH and am committed to remaining with him in our marriage. Like a car, however, every relationship can use a tune up now and then!

Cheers :biggrinjester:

ps. time for me to go jump on that mill...

:svengo: PHEW! Now THAT was a workout! 1.5 hours including time on the mill and situps and jug-lifts. I * deserve * to * lose * it!!!:biggrinjester:

Happy Wednesday! Worked out yesterday. Will work out today after getting home from taking the girls for interviews at their new school. Hope it goes well.

All for now

Another hot and sweaty workout. Did I mention that our vehicle is currently out of commission, so I am also walking to and from work???

Hi Janice

Walking to and from work is all good exercise and we know how useful that is to us.

I'm sorry that the WW scales did not play nicely. I continue to use my own scales for my official daily weight. Maybe you should consider doing the same. It is not that I do not trust the WW scales - just that I have a better reading.

For a long time I have weighed myself before setting out on my morning long walk and on my return maybe 2 to 2.5 hours later (or more if I have a class). I have noticed that my weight reduces during my walk by between half and a full pound. I use the later reading as my official weighing for the day. On both occasions that I have attended WW (during my walk) their weighing of me has sat in the middle between my earlier weighing and my later one. Since I weigh every day - it seems more consistent for me to use my own later weighing that day too. Also - because my bathroom floor is tiled I can be sure that I line the scales up at exactly the same location every time. I do not have that kind of control over how they position their scales.

Why make changes to your routine which you like while you are seeing such good results on your own scales and in such tiny skirt sizes. You know that it is working well. If it isnt broken there is no need to fix it.

Take care

Hi Jance

Sorry i havent been popping in as much as i would like to but had no computer (decorating)

Im so glad that hubby is so open to the counciling and more importantly its working out for you!!

As for those nasty scales at WW i agree with Margaret

Why make changes to your routine which you like while you are seeing such good results on your own scales and in such tiny skirt sizes. You know that it is working well. If it isnt broken there is no need to fix it.

And i also agree with this
Also - because my bathroom floor is tiled I can be sure that I line the scales up at exactly the same location every time. I do not have that kind of control over how they position their scales.
I have a tile on my bathroom floor that i use to weigh myself its like ocd with me it has to be perfect so at SW i can see the scales are roughly in the same place but not exactly so that will effect it without a doubt.

Have a good weekend

:waving:Hi all
Well, just 3 more sleeps until we are off to Disney Land! Remember I mentioned that our van died? Well, we now own a Jeep Grand Cherokee, purchased by DH at the local auto auction. It is S-W-E-E-T! We'll get it checked by a mechanic tomorrow, and if it's not good enough to get us to Seattle, we'll still just use my mom's car. I won't believe we are actually going until we are on the plane! :coolgleamA: California, here I come!

So of course Aunt Flo showed up today - at least my most tiring and painful part will be over prior to the long day in the car & on the plane. In addition to walking to and from work, I also got on the mill for the usual hour. When I weighed myself post bathing, it showed 154 lbs again. That made me feel pretty good, as I know I am retaining water currently, so it is a reasonable weight.

Tonight a dear friend is in town. I haven't see her in about 15 yrs, and am spending the whole evening with her, starting with dinner at a very fancy pants restaurant. I am so pleased! What a wonderful life I live!

All for now

Just wanted to pop in and say hi--congratulations on all these very tiny clothing sizes! I hope you have a lot of fun at Disneyland and that when the "waters" recede you're seeing some numbers that make you feel good!

Sophie

Hi Janice

We all retain water at that time of the month - and you have every right to feel good about such a low weight while retaining water.

You are bound to be so excited about the holiday being so close. It is great that you have a vehicle sorted out (and a backup one in case things dont pan out).

I am sure that your friend will be impressed by your trim appearance when you meet up. We all feel so much more confident now that we have slimmer figures. We might know inside where we have been and we may consider ourselves to be a work-in-progress - but others just see the trimmer us of today.

Have a wonderful holiday.

Take care

Hey ABBA! Sounds like a really exciting time for you - glad to hear about the new set of wheels and the awesome Disney trip!!! Have fun!!! I second omega's comment regarding the scales at WW. You weigh yourself more frequently at home anyway and it's a more consistent measure. Plus you and your size 5 skirt can prove to WW that there's still something happening!!! :)

:biggrinjester:Hi, all! Got back early this morning from our trip to Disney Land, and boy was it fun! We had such a wonderful family time together and I am so pleased we went. Now back to our regular lives...

I was pleased to step on the scale this morning at home and have it read 156 lbs. That means I neither lost nor significantly gained while on holiday, eating so much restaurant food. It is good to be home where I am more in control of what I eat! We dashed to the supermarket this aft and picked up mega fruits and veggies, as we really missed out on them during our vacation.

After getting up this morning and getting souvenirs and laundry organized, you just know I jumped right on that old 'mill and did the usual. It felt good, too. Our days at Disney usually lasted from about 9 am to 11pm, with a great deal of walking, waiting in line ups, and riding. It was all of the walking that saved my weight, I'm sure! Mind you, I did try to choose wisely when we ate at so many greasy spoons, but healthy choices were very limited! I picked up apples and bananas and skim milk and OJ to keep in our hotel room, which helped some, too.

There were many, MANY extremely large folks at the resort, riding around on motorized scooters. I am sure that some must have had non-weight related health problems that lead to a lack of mobility and therefore being quite heavy; however, I am equally certain that many of them were simply too fat to get around on their own two legs. It was a bit sad in that regard, as it seemed that some had just given up on themselves. This is a topic we don't really discuss in our household, but both of my daughters noticed and asked about so many "big" people there. However, I was delighted whenever I spotted my own reflection in a window, and for once am pleased with how I look in our photos! I had so much energy to get around and stay up late every night. We really had a wonderful time, and I am thrilled that I was in such good shape for it!

Here's to continuing the WL journey :driving:

Hi Janice

I am pleased that you had such a wonderful holiday.

It is great that you managed to not significantly gain while away. You are right - it will be all the walking that you did. Well done for doing all the walking and for trying to eat healthily when you had an option. The healthy snacks in the room were a good idea.

It is also great that you got back on the treadmill straight away on your return. You are not going to let the holiday divert your focus from your project now that things are returning to a normal way of life.

Obesity is a major issue - and there are many more seriously obese people than was once the case. Society has become much less about being active. Convenience foods abound and the processing makes something that looks moderately healthy - much less healthy than you think.

I know from my own experience how easy it is for an organised, intelligent person who is far from lazy to become morbidly obese. People think that you need to be a combination of disorganised, stupid and lazy - but this is not the case. I am so thankful that I have turned my life around. Our project to regain our health and support our self-esteem is very worthy of our efforts.

Take care
Love
Margaret

:waving:Hi Margaret
Yes, you are right that intelligence does not have anything to do with folks being overweight! Speaking for myself, I simply allowed bad eating habits and a habit of lack of exercise to take over. I am so pleased that everyone on this forum has decided to put their health first and CHANGE THEIR LIFE! I am particularly proud of how well you have done with your weight loss.

I have been on the 'mill daily since my return. Weigh in this week showed me down 0.5 of a pound, putting me officially at 156 lbs on the WW scale. I have decided that I want to work part time for WW, so must knock off another 11 lbs to get to 145, which is the very top of what I am allowed according to BMI in order to work for them. I am therefore kicking up my exercise and seeing how well this works for me in losing more weight.

Keep up the good work, all!:seeya:

:svengo: I must be crazy! Tonight I am starting "bootcamp cardio" class. I'll attend 2 evenings per week, for one hour each time. This in addition to my regular one hour daily workouts, plus now I am walking to work daily, which is 20 mins or so each way. I am determined to knock off more weight by the time of my 20th reunion in mid July!!!

I sure do hope it pays off. Tonight my measurements will get taken and my fitness level assessed, and then again at the end of the 6 weeks. The course is actually 8 weeks, but I am starting 2 wks late. And it is not cheap! :banghead:

Here's to better health,
ABBA

Okay, it is obvious that I AM insane.:ack2: That was very tiring and exceptionally hard for one as uncoordinated as myself. However, it felt like a good addition to me to the rest of my workout. HOpefully this will be just what I need to break through and get out of the 150s.

cheers
ABBA

I am STILL hurting from the bootcamp - and tonight is session #2!!! How will I manage?

I have continued walking to and from work, and also using my treadmill. There HAS to be a loss at the scales this week! I will seriously wonder if there isn't.

Sadly, we found out last night that our oldest daughter (11 yrs) has been lying to us.:dupe: That means things are going to get even bumpier as we now implement REAL changes to her life, restricting and protecting for her own good. At this point I sure would rather just leave and let someone else handle all the junk. *sigh* :nopity: We have to be somewhat careful with how much we change things all at once to make sure she does not run away. But that fear cannot keep us from doing what needs to be done in order to make her life better in the long run, as we believe it will be with us in charge rather than her.

Well, time for early dinner, then off for 45 mins to volunteer at the school fun night, then off for 1.5 hours to the dreaded bootcamp!:toetap05: What are YOU doing tonight???

cheers
ABBA

Hey ABBA! Sounds like things are seriously busy in your life right now!!! Sorry to hear about the difficulties with your daughter. :( But WOW I'm definitely impressed with your new workout regimen!! That's impressive!
