A new stage of the journey

Hey Tru, are the bruises from the bench shirt?

Squat suits give me bruises too. I've never used a bench shirt, but I can imagine you'd get them.

yep i get some badass bite marks from the bench shirt in the triceps and under the armpits :) which is a great sign that i got the right size shirt :biggrinjester:

i only got minor bruising from the squat suit but it is one size larger than what i should be wearing, i CANT squeeze into the one i have which is suposed to be the correct size, i can't get it over my quads lol. it might be time to buy some basketballs to try and stretch out the legs a bit.

my erector shirt may also be a little big as it has yet to leave any bruising and i am yet to have a go getting into the DL suit whitch looks every bit too small meaning i will need some serious help getting dressed into that one lol

if all goes to plan and the meeting with the school today doesn't take 4eva i hope to get in a good squat day at the gym.

Thanks Angelica :)

hey Bucks thanks for dropping in :)

you are working so hard! Keep up the great work and I hope you are joining the extension challenge. I would be WAY to self conscious to have anyone helping me 'squeeze' into anything LOL so you most definately are a power lifter!!

I agree with Nicole - I'd be too afraid to have someone squeeze me into anything. I could barely lift up my shirt for my trainer to measure my back fat. HAHAH. SAD.

Keep up the work TRU! :) Also, are you doing the continued challenge? :)

Hey Tru, ya havent been around for a bit...I was wonderin if all is ok.

I got a good laugh you talking abt your shirt biting you and it being a good thing.

And you already have signed up haven't you...

:D:D:D

yep i am ok, i done a bit of a harold holt on the weekend but things got a bit busy.

Yesterday i had to have my workout split up because of another school meeting so i got in half an hour on the Dreadmill, 3 min fit test on the stairmaster and some rotator cuff exercises

in the afternoon i had a heavy squat session working up to a new PB of 140 kg (308 lb) i have a pic taken after my lift. Hubby commented on how ALL of the men in the gym had stopped what they were doing to watch the lift and were keen to talk to me afterwards lol, he even noticed that one of em was disapointed when i left with hubby :sifone:

i feel the lift may not have been comp legal but it was damn close my 2 spotters (the two strongest men in the gym) were not looking at depth but hubby thinks i was a little high on the lift by about an inch or so.

i will post my six week challenge pics a bit later in the day.

today has been a bit of a rest day, had a bit of a kick around with the kids in the park with their football.

YOU ARE THE BOMB!!! (that's a good thing!) :)

When is the competition again?

Awesome work on the PB Tru!!! I'd be one of those guys STARRING too!! I always love reading about your sport! You explain with great detail and passion!! Again, congrats!!! :hurray: :hurray: :)

HAHA! Suckers! :biggrinjester: :biggrinjester: :biggrinjester:

Hey Bronwyn, my gramps is friends with the champion Deadlifter of her age, Nora Smiriga, whom he's been friends with since the 1970s. She's 72 years old, 123 pounds, and can lift 235 lbs! :eek2: I'd met her before 10 years ago before she started, but had lunch with her Monday at her house in Berkeley. She said she originally started lifting to help with her bones, then found out she was GOOD at it, and kept it up--she only started 5 years ago or something. Gramps went a few months ago to Vegas to watch her compete. Anyway, when I answered the door I was seriously impressed with her body--WOW! LOL

a lot of the lighter lifters have seriously hot bods. Here in Aust the masters division (40+) looks to be very competitive, there are more older female lifters in the masters than in the Open age division.

It is pretty common for competitors to take up the sport by accident when they find out they are good at lifting. I started after discovering i was good at the lifts when i was training for rugby to increase my knee stability and strength after surgery.

Lifting is not just for knuckle headed muscle men.

ok, with declan back at school my workout had to be kept within a strict 2 hour timeframe (the longest he can cope with school without having a meltdown).

after a light warmup (Rowing machine)

Full Tricep pushups using pushup bars to improve depth 1 set of 20

Benchpress (RAW)

60 kg X 5
65 kg X 5
70 Kg X 10 board presses
85 kg X 5 board presses
95 kg X 3 Board presses
100 kg (220 lb) X 3 Board Presses
i paced around a bit before the 100 kg attempt in an effort to intimidate the large chunk of in-animate metal sitting there :biggrinjester:

Incline Press 3 X 10 @ 50 kg
Tricep Pushdowns 3 X 10 @ 75 kg
Skullcrushers 3 X 10 @ 30 kg
Bodyblade (rotator cuff exercise)

now with my stess relief completed this morning it is time to try and get my son to do some of his school work that needs to be done at home each day.

so far my middle son has had a good start to the school year with no suspensions :) it seems that the "social rules" that his psycologist was teaching him seems to have mostly stuck. so long as he looks at social interation as a strict set of rules to follow he is ok, he may not understand the reasons he needs to do certain social niceties but he understands rules.

Hey tru
My oldest son is now getting heavy into football (chip off the old block) and I am actually about to be getting back into a lifting program with him. It has been a good 15 years since I lifted regularly (funny since it was such a big part of my high school and college life) I like reading your posts It makes me want to rekindle my love for iron!

Lifting is not just for knuckle headed muscle men.

Oh TRUST me, I know! I was doing 61 kg Rack Pulls last night :D *YAWN*, right? But I'm not a pro ;) I still try! I put some flexing pictures up in my diary and in the Photo Post of the 6 week challenge, like you did. :)

Nice workout! I hear you on the "meltdown"--that's the word my friend with the autistic son uses for his tantrums. I've never witnessed them but can imagine....congrats on your middle son's success! :hurray:

ROCKING IT OUT, TRU!!!!!

That's so freaking impressive I think I'm gonna shit myself :D

One of my nieces was borderline autistic, and I thought she was a handful. Her "meltdowns" were bad enough ... I can't imagine what you're dealing with right now. You're not only physically strong, Tru. You're mentally strong.

And I also agree with you when you say that lifting isn't just for knuckle headed muscle men ;)

You're seriously blowing me away, Tru!

today has been realy humid, I couldn't finish my workout the heat and humidity just completely sapped me of energy. Just sitting doing nothing i have swear running down my face and everywhere else YUK.

this afternoon, if everything works out ok with the kids i will be going to yoga class (Hatha).
