Sounds like you had a really good workout today. You sound like the ideal workout partner. :)

Have you noticed any weight gain when you gain the muscles from your workouts? Just curious.

Because i am in calorie deficit, i am not gaining muscle but working hard to keep what i have already got.

The increase in strength of a muscle can be attributed as much to the number of muscle fibres recruited as to the size of the muscle fibres. My strength gains are more from improving my nervous system and recruiting more muscle fibres to do the work rather than gaining muscle size. this is more often the case in woman than men.

Genetics plays a big part in lifting as well, I am most likely to have a high % of fast twitch fibres and low percentage of slow twitch fibres. Acording to one of my textbooks a common split for weight lifters is 70% fast twitch and 30% slow twitch. which is great for strength and other explosive activities but awfull for endurance like middle distance and longer distance running.

i am an awfull runner LOL.

Tru-I am with you on the tight budget and dont know if they have them around you but we have 'schools' if you will where students that just graduated work on you for like $20 but a master is with them guiding them where needed I have had good luck with it. Also in US I found my insurance covers them when I get them at my chiropractor's office that being said my copay is $20 LOL BUT I truly need them to get an effective adjustment as my neck is very very tight so its not just BS reason.

Keep up the great workouts and good luck with the jogging! I would NOT want to run into you in a rugby match!!!

my calories were sitting a bit low yesterday so i had the oportunity to sit down eat a wonderfull 400 gram (14 oz) piece of Rump steak mmmmmmm

i don't get a chance to eat a lot of steak while i am cutting for comp :)

this morning the scales are showing a bit more of a loss down another .4 kg so thats 1kg so far this week. hopefully it continues for official challenge weigh in this week.

it will be a short workout this morning as i have to go take my youngest to see his GP for a checkup prior to his next pediatricians appointment on monday.

Monday looks like it will be a shit of a day beginning with a meeting at my sons school which is certain to put me in a foul mood :cuss: :banghead: followed by a 2 hour drive :cuss:to my sons pediatricians apppointment :banghead:

unfortunatly those type of schools are located in the cities and not in the middle of nowhere :( but in the next couple of weeks one of the other students in my class is a massage therapist who i will be able to get a good price from.

Last time i tried to get insurance they wanted to add a huge loading to the premium (over 100%) because of my weight and my chosen sports without taking bf% into account and only looking at BMI so i have no insurance.

You're right about the neural recruitment aspects of training.

And I'm a horrible runner as well. I can't run more than 800m. I'm much better at sprinting.

As for cardio, I have cardio ADD. I'm useless at it. If it takes more than 15 minutes, I'm just not interested. Unless it's rowing ;) That I can do for 30 minutes or longer. Somehow it just doesn't feel the same as most other cardio, probably because of the strength aspect.

ok this mornings workout was short, 10 min stairmaster, 15 min lifting.

this afternoon i voluteered to be a first aid officer for the football (soccer) this season rather than coaching and i have been asked if i would be interested in becoming the fitness trainer for the referees this year.

It looks like i will be getting thrown in the deep end so to speak. i have had a brief look at the fitness requirements for refs in football last season and they need to be super fit.

I will need to grab my eldest sons referee handbook and have a closer look and work out if i feel confident enough to do the job despite not having my full qualifications yet.

I wanted to stop in say hi!
Sounds like I could learn a lot from reading your posts!!
I've been trying to read all the senior members journals to get some new in site ;D
Your work outs sound grueling! How in the hell do you do it with three boys??

I fit my workout time into the morning when all three boys are at school usually. I do have my workouts interupted at times as i need to be on call at a moments notice as my two youngest are diagnosed with Autism so i don't hold down a job outside of home but i do study. My husband is a big help and supports my powerlifting (he was telling a friend today that he thinks i am capable of making world titles one day)

Hey!
How are you doin?
[I haven't been keeping up with everyone lately but I'm getting back into the swing of things!]
I'll be stopping by more often :)

This is AWESOME Tru:):):)!!!

Ok todays workout was 30 minutes on the rowing machine followed by the erector shirt jig lol. it was my first time wearing it and i had my coaches husband and daughter helping my put the shirt on. then proceeded to work on heavy deadlifts for an hour. my calouses are shredded and need to be filed down and i havn't been game to take a look at my armpits where the shirt was soo tight.

My coach is happy with my progress so not a bad saturday morning :)

i need to take over the mowing from hubby shortly but prolly wont get it all finished today.

ok, yesterday afternoon hubby continued with the mowing so i spent an hour with the chainsaw cutting up firewood ready to store and dry for winter. not much of a workout so i won't count it as exercise. i wanted to do my day2 of the C25K yesterday but my ipod was out of charge so if i can get into the gym this morning i will do day 2. It is to hot to be running outside.

Too HOT?? holy hell woman what is the temp there? I am freezing.. .lol. .well, I can definitely see you are a determined woman!! I don't know how ya do it still but I give you props!

and YEAHHHHH world title? are you kidding me that is amazing!!!!!!! Is that a goal of yours? Isn't it great when our spouses think so highly of us. .mine is in training. .BaaaaaaaHaaaaa :smash: :smilielol5:
