A new stage of the journey

the last few days have been resonable temp wise at around 32-33 degrees C (91 F) I am so glad we don't have the heat wave that they are having in the southern states the news said 46 C (114 F) for melbourne yesterday. i would rather have the extra rain that we have been getting to the extra heat.

World titles are a LONG term goal but i have the potential to qualify for commonwealth this year if i lift to my ability at the state titles next month.

only four more years left competing in the Open division before i find myself in the Masters age group

my eldest has been training with me doing the competition lifts but hubby and i disagree on whether we should let him compete or not.

I would KILL for some 'reasonable' weather LOL. Weighlifting sure does sound like alot pain---literally! So does hubby lift too? Are you stronger than him LOL, that might give em a complex eh?

na, hubby is not a lifter, he is a runner who has never been able to gain weight despite eating whatever he wants due to having half his small intestines removed when he was 3 days old. i am stronger but i have no hope of keeping up if i went on a run with him.

my kids seem to have hit the genetic jackpot so to speak, they have hubby's slim build and endurance for running combined with my strength. If they can overcome their problems they could be realy good at almost any sport they choose to do except basketball lol. they are all short like i am.

it is stinking hot, we didn't get anywhere at the school meeting, my sons pediatricians appointment went ok and he is eligable for some extra help from a speach therapist and a psycologist for a short time without costing us extra as part of a government scheme which i hope will help him before the number of visits expires.

not a wonderfull birthday for him but we will have a small party next weekend.

exercise today = none
Food = nil breakfast, snack = Chocolate late lunch = a gluten free thing from a small take away shop consisting of spinach, egg, ham and cheese, tasted good but have know idea how many calories in the little fist size morsel.

not sure what i am gonna eat tonight probably chicken, my calories should be ok.

my thoughts are with the families of the victims of the Victoria Bushfires, and those living in and around the town in NSW where i grew up where a bushfire was, last i heard still out of control.

Tru-sounds stressful I hope the appointments can help your son. I am sorry to hear abou the fires.

Out of curiosity do your sons also have the gluten/wheat intolerance issues? I have read a fair amount on anti-inflammatory ways of eating, the body's functioning, different disease, as well as things on different affects our foods have on us today. I found it interesting to read in one thing (I am sorry I dont know what it was) that was discussing the rise in autism and how there seems to be a genetic link but they can figure it out and then also how the many families that have children 'on spectrum' also seem to have food allergies that surround around items in processed foods and problems with yeast overgrowth. It was very interesting. I surely hope all the work goes to figure something out soon.

we both stayed reletivly calm, the meeting was filled with PC bullshit. his hours have been cut back to 2 hours of school a day once he comes off his suspension.

mom2, it think genetics do play a part, but we noticed little to no difference when he was wasn't given gluten containing foods so i dont think it is a factor. I did see a program on TV about Autism where there was a study done which linked very high testosterone levels at birth with autism and that the study has been greatly expanded to try and verify the results.

could not do a heavy training session today but i have organised to do a heavy bench session tomorrow night when i will have enough spotters and help getting into my shirt. if all goes to plan i want to attempt a comp legal 95 kg.

for a lift to be legal in competition for bench press i need to be able to follow the judges commands.

In competition the spotter can assist the lifter to unrack the bar. the lifter once they have the bar locked out and stable the judge will give the command "Start" the lifter then lowers the bar to touch the chest where it must be held stable before the judge gives the command to "Press" at which point the bar is lifted and locked out (arms straight). when the bar is steady the judge will give the command "Rack" .

Not much to report this afternoon, eating has been ok, a bit more cardio would have been good but i think my body needed the rest. despite my good losses i don't think i will be at my new weight division before the state titles but I should be taking names and kicking arse by the time the National titles roll around.

i had a few people wanting to watch me train today which was a new experience. it will be a bit odd doing my heavy bench training of an evening because i will have the oportunity to put some of the men who seem more in love with the mirror than working out to shame :D

Show em how it's done!!!! Good for you!!!
WoooHoooo!!

I am sorry to here about the fires out there, how horrible.

Yesterday i had an excelent training session with good intensity

30 minutes getting into shirt lol built up a good sweat doing this counts as a warmup

Bench Press heavy singles and doubles working up to 2 singles at 95 kg (209.4 lb) a new PB for the bench press combined with my weight loss that is a full 10 kg (22 lb) more than my bodyweight.

Bench Press Standards

remove shirt

DB bench Press 3 X 8 @ 25 kg (55lb)
Incline bench press 3 X 8 @ 60 kg (132 lb)

a few isolation exercises for Bi's, Tri's and rear delts.

Todays Workout

my music got mixed up for my C25k but i jumped ahead to Week 5 Workout 2 but with a little more time on the clock and less walk time. i think weeek 5 workout 3 should be ok if i am fresh after a rest day.

followed by a 1 hour cardio kickboxing class, this is beginning to get easy and was not as intense as i would have liked.

i have a nice set of bruises from last nights lifting effort but no DOMS as yet, i expect i will be a bit sore tomorrow.

OOOO bruises from lifting? Crazy! I completely get what you are saying about guys in love with themselves at night. I hate working out in the evening just for that reason. Great job on your running, way to boost it up!

Hey Tru, are the bruises from the bench shirt?

Squat suits give me bruises too. I've never used a bench shirt, but I can imagine you'd get them.
