A new chapter begins

Thanks Veronique. I never thought I could run that far and for that long. Have you tried the couch to 5k program. You slowly build strength to run 5k or 30 mins in nine weeks. Im on the sixth week and it is really really geat. You can also get podcasts for them. I love it, coz it makes me feel focused, and the guy who made the podcast kinda is running with you, so you don't really feel all alone. :biggrinjester:

Just left you a small note in your journal. You did SOOOO well with food this weekend. I wish I could be like you. I feel like I just let go over the weekends...

Thanks...I mostly stick to good food cause I don't want my kids to eat junk and they eat what I eat...well most of the time (no big on salad those two lol)

I am thinking of looking into that program cause I have never been a runner and don't really know a lot about running I will look it up!!

You should totally look into it. I have been on this program before and must say it really works. You take it easy for about three-four weeks and then slowly build up the stamina. I am sure there are others in the forum who have done this too.

So I was having an ok day until I had a sugar attack. I was trying to stay within my calorie limit today, so was gearing up mentally. I had a bigger b'fast today (usually I have fruits only) and was making sure I would not crave bad things. I was doing ok until about 1pm and then I had six pieces of dairy milk chocolate (WTF? I don't even like milk chocolate that much). As I was putting it in my mouth my brain was telling me to stop, but I was like a possessed person. I kept gobbling it down. I felt disgusting and horrible and totally disappointed in myself. My plan was to only have fruits and veggies for lunch- peaches, apples, carrots, cucumbers, apricots- i had them nicely put in a plate and ate them slowly. Then I had the sugar attack and instead of stopping at that I had another small lunch- one cup of plain white rice with lefover fish from the night before. WTF is wrong with me? I was sooo disgusted afterwards...I am over my calorie allowance for the day and I'm just so sad..

Anyway...here's how my day went:

B: Crepe with fruits
S: Apricot and a cup of tea
L: Apricots, peaches, cucumber, apples, carrot
S: Whole wheat crackers with one table spoon peanut butter
SUGAR ATTACK- six pieces of milk chocolate
L (TWO): a cup of rice with fish
D: Lots and lots of cucumber with okra curry and 1/2 chappati and a cup of plain yogurt.
Dessert: Homemade fruit candy.

I am gonna try really hard again tomorrow. I just don't understand why I had the sudden urges today. :(

My goal for this week: really eat within my calorie limit. I think I went a little over. I recently realized that I didn't really stick to my allowed calorie (the last time I was here). I would always go a couple of hundred calories up. I really really wanna stick to my allowed calories this week and see what happens. So I will start counting from Tuesday.

I found it really helpful to track a couple days of eating in livestrong or calorie counter or one of those free online programs to find out where I stood with calories, fat, sodium, etc. I found it really interesting because after three days I was always over on sodium and sugar and now I'm more careful to add salt to my food because I know there is already so much salt in it. Plus when I eat more fruit I noticed the sugar count was way up so I looked at what else I was eating that contributed to it and tried to get those levels down. I can't committ to log it everyday because it is time consuming but every now and then is helpful - even if you just select some of the foods you are used to eating! Keep it up Juni - it's going to be a great week!!

It just takes one good day to make it all better so concentrate tomorrow and rock it! There is still lots of time to make up for the week! I bet the urges are because TOM is coming so just stay focused and get lots of water in! Tomorrow will be better - it's hump day!! Have a good night Juni!

This sugar attack is really really bothering me. I was thinking about it as I signed off and was reading everyone's journal and it suddenly hit me. I think I may be PMSing (doooh!). I have been really cranky since yesterday. Its interesting I didn't think about it before because now that I am eating properly, running and thinking about my body so much, I am also becoming aware of my mood swings, cravings etc. TOM is just around the corner (this coming weekend). Yikes. I hate that time of the month.

Hi Lisa, Hi Veronique, I know you guys read my journal. Am stopping over to yours after this. I do wish more people would drop by to say hi. Did my PMS scare everyone away?

Lisa, you hit the bull's eye. I don't know why it took me so long to figure it out. I am so silly. :banghead::banghead: Thanks for the message. Made my night.

You have a good day. Yep, hump day it is. :)

Hi Juni,

You didn't scare me away, It just took some time to find your diary. I'm sorry that you didn't stay within your calorie range, I have been there 100 times over so don't you worry, it happens to the best of us, and to be honest it probably won't be the last time...the upside is that you know it wasn't what your body needed and you can move upward and onward from here. The big thing in making this change for yourself is always making sure you pick yourself up when you fall and keep going, keep trying again and again and you will make it if you keep trying, I know you will! I agree with Lisa, maybe look into the nutitional facts of what your eating so you can see if things may need to be motified. Fruits are great but they do have tons of sugar so maybe cut back a tad and up your veggies. Its not at all too late to turn your week around, start fresh right now, you can do this Juni! I hope your day turns around.

Thanks for dropping in Janvier. It is always encouraging to have someone like you (who has come a long way in her journey of healthy living) give advise. Because you know exactly what I am going through. I did take your and Lisa's advise and controlled my fruits intake. Had more veggies today. Thank you so much for the advise. I'm now popping over to your journal to see how things are with you.

I do track what I eat on fitday- sodium is not a problem, but I think sugar is. Which is why I have cut down on fruits a little bit and upped my veggies intake. Thanks for the advise, Lisa.

Today went really well. Phew! I thought I was going to have another bad day, but it turned out to be quite ok.

B: A piece of toast (half with a little bit of butter, another with a little bit of PB), watermelon
S: plain homemade yogurt with one apple
L: cooked cauliflower with a couple of pieces of potatoes, cucumber, carrots and bell pepper
S: Fruit smoothie- bananas, strawberries, some honey and orange juice
D: rice and chicken
Dessert: 1/3 piece of chocolate mousse

Little cravings hit twice today. When the first one hit, I went for a run, when the second one hit, I jumped into the shower. Really proud of myself.

And I ran for 25 mins. I'm on week six of C25k and loving it.

Two days till the weekend. Almost there...phew!

Calories I should eat. Please help!!!!

I just wanted to check if I am doing this right. My BMR is 1428.5 and I want to lose 1lb a week, my goal is 120 lbs. How in order to lose 1 lb a week, how many calories a day am I allowed to eat? I run three times and week and burn about 300 cals. Please help!! Just direct me to the place where I can find this info on this forum if you know. Please. I know the info is there, and spent some time looking today, but I can't find. Sorry to be a bother and thanks for your help.

Great great day today. Looks like I am going to finish strong after all.

B: melon- two cups
S: PB on a toast
L: Cucumber, tomato salad with onions on olive oil and I put a little bit of Parmesan cheese. It was yummy.
S1: Lots of veggies- tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers and an apple
S2: another PB on a toast- I only apply a thin layer of PB
S3: 1/3 cup of chicken biryani
D: 1 cup of chicken curry with 1/2 cup rice- veggies
Dessert: I skipped the chocolate cake for a very small piece of dark chocolate...

I was around 1200 calories today. I know I haven't been over today. So feeling really great about that. Also, I fit into a shirt that I couldn't fit. My boobs haven't lost much, but my tummy has (I can feel it esp when i put my underwear). TOM is around the corner but hasn't shown its head as yet. I have been drinking about 4 litres of water everyday since my journey began and I am feeling light and great.

However, there's something I don't understand. I usually get one pimple (just one, yes I have kept count) before TOM. This time I have more than five pimples on my face. What gives? I notice these because my skin is very clear (genetics, I suppose) and my sister suffered from acne problem in her teens so have been careful about keeping skin clear (exercise, drink lost of water, cleaning and taking good care of skin). Anyone has any idea?

Other than that, I am feeling really great. REALLY REALLY REALLY looking forward to my run tomorrow (FRIDAY, yayayayay!).

Hey Juni great job !!! I get pimples when I eat lots of acidic food even when I over do it on fruits, so mabee if you are eating more fruits then you are used to that could be the cause of the outbreak, if you keep it up (fruit eating) you body should get used to it....stress is also another factor and so can sweat lol ....I had really really bad skin got worst when I worked for a month at an A&W! Hope the skin cleat up soon keep up the good work!

SOOOOOOOOOOOO EXHAUSTED. Really hard week at work and I couldn't go for a run today because I had one presentation after another. I am grumpy but more than that I am really really tired. Food was good and under calorie allowance (am I finally getting there?). I really wanna visit more journals and see what everyone's up to, but I don't think I have the energy to do so right now. I am heading straight to bed in the hope that I can get up early tomorrow morning and get out of the house for a nice looooong run.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I was exhausted all weekend. I did manage a 25 min run on Saturday but I have been feeling so crappy that I haven't been able to go out so much. I think I may be coming down with a flu....ugh. Weekend was ok. Apart from couple of glasses of wine on Sat, things were normal.

SAT

B: Bagel with cream cheese
L:BBQ chicken with salad and 1/2 veggie wrap
S: Cherries (must have had over 50) :))
D: two slices of pizza, two chicken drumsticks (baked), green salad and two glasses of wine

SUN

B: 1/2 omelette
S: banana
L: wrap with arugula salad
S: mango
D: tempura, bruchetta and chicken soup

MON

B: peaches
S: lefover bruchetta (three), an apple and a glass of OJ
L: grilled chicken, two spoons of rice, sautéed veggies and a little bit of icecream
S: 1/4 slice of pizza, OJ
D: Thai currey (calamari with veggies), rice noodles and 1/2 piece of pumpkin pie

I feel really ugh! but I will go for a run tomorrow morning, hopefully.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Good to hear you are staying on track. I am sorry you are so tired :(

Thanks for popping over to my journal. The reason I was so tired on Friday was because I was coming down with a flu. I have the flu now, and TOM and it is yuck! I hope to feel better soon. Thanks for your message.

Aww sorry to hear you are not feeling well - you did really good this weekend despite that though! And managed to run 25 min which is great!! I have lots of catching up to do this week but I'm feeling good about getting through it and not cheating! Hope you feel better soon - water, water, water and don't worry about exercising until you feel 100%!! Remember watching your calories is more important anyway!
