A new beginning...

Hey I found this great link for back strengthening exercises. I'm going to start doing tehse daily.. i hopes to help the issue! :)

When I was at chiropractor treating lower back pain (I had it starting in june), I did the exercise sitting on the ball and bouncing up and down for 5 minutes. The second exercise I did was the one from the link above, where you lie on the ball on your stomach and raise alternative let and arm at the same time, hold for 3 seconds trying to keep them straight, then set them down. This exercise strengthen balance musles, and both lower back and neck. The easy version of this exercise is to do in on the floor.

Did you try ice packs/heat on your back? For acute pain, ice works really well. For stiffness - heat.

I use a heating pad for my lower back, which does feel much better when I do it. Just.. not exactly ideal at work. I'll also give that ball exercise a try! :)

Thank you! :)

I am pondernig taking tomorrow as a rest day officially

i think the doc will give you proper exercises for what to strengthen and what is causing it, but YES, everyone needs a rest day and you have deserved it. get some sleep, heal your back and take a day off the exercising!! i think it makes perfect sense.

Just wanted to stop by again and let you know that I thought of you last night. In my bathroom, of all places! Someone had used all the toilet paper and not gotten out a new roll  so I thought about you and the people you work with. Lol! I was also thinking of the "sign" you were talking about in the break room with the coffee cups and stuff and I thought of a sign for ya to put in the bathroom.

This is the toilet paper. (pretend there is a picture of a roll here.)
This is the holder. (pretend picture here.)
This is the toilet paper on the holder. (pretend picture of the roll being placed on the holder)
Then a picture of the roll and holder back in place on the wall with the words "any questions?" underneath it.

What do you think? Lol! :D

Hi NL!
You know that your back pain sounds like it could be a kidney infection. I'd mention it to a physician. Does it absolutely feel muscular?
Anyhow, sorry I've been MIA! I'm hoping that my life will settle down soon.

Hey M02! :) I am glad to see you pop back in! As for the back pain.. I have been considering the kidney infection possibility too. Thank you for bringing that to my intention.. it crossed my mind, but a lot of my symptoms and pain seem to be orientated muscularly or during my menstrual cycle. I know that sounds weird, but the last two months I had episodes with back pain during PMS. Once my aunt flo left, the back pain left. This month it doesn't seem to be going away! :( I tend to notice it "pulling" particularly when I stand up and reach over to bend down to touch my toes. I can feel the stretch quite a bit. It worsens when sitting, so it makes work frustrating, as I sit at desk all day! But.. I def. will make sure my doctor is aware of it. Plus so far I'm not running a fever as of yet and am certainly keeping my fluids going! :D Thank you for bringing up the possibility of that too...

Hey we lok forward to seeing you on again more freq. when life calms down! ;)

You don't have to have a fever to still have an infection, and kidney infections are very dangerous. If the thought crossed your mind, you should go to the doctor immediately, because it can bring permanent damage to kidneys.
On another hand, if the pain goes away for close to a month, it is prob. not kidney infection, but you still need to check it out with the doctor, because it may be serious. If the pain is muscular related, chiropractor helps. (find a good one) You also need to know what exactly is causing the pain. If it is inflammation, then you don't want to do heat, because it will only increase the pain and inflammation, you need to do ice. When inflammation goes down, then you do heat to increase circulation and promote healing and tissue building.

BTW, incorrect typing position, bad chair and wrong chair height can lead to and definitely increase back pain. My back pain was reduced tremendously by just adjusting the chair hight at work. I had to request keyboard tray at work, because when my chair was correct hight, my keyboard would be almost my chest level, as I'm so short!

Hope you feel better! Back pain is no fun!

Glad you enjoyed it! :D Maybe you should start carrying your own with you and then when they are in there with no toilet paper, maybe they will get the hint!

I didn't even think about the kidney infection thing. That is a possibility too. Once when I had a UTI, my back hurt alot. The UTI shouldn't be a problem for you though if you are drinking all of your water. A simple test at the doctor will let you know if you have a kidney infection or something like that. Hope it gets better soon, and keep us posted.

Oh man, I hope everything works out for you! I'd hate to lose my buddy to something preventable  Get your butt to a doctor!

Good morning ladies!! PLEASE don't worry over me!! :D I am not avoiding the doctor. I do have an appt. next Wednesday. I can't get in any sooner.

I'm not too worried about a kidney infection, because I've been consulting with my mom (a former nurse) over the back ache issues, and she and I have ruled that one out. For a variety of things. :D SOOOO :) I swear.. if it were to increase or really alarm me, I'd be at my ER!

Good news too, that I did not get up to exercise this morning and so far so good. I should also probably mention, I have very tight hamstrings, uhm and have't been stretching religiously lately :( (I know BAD girl!!) but that also can aggravate my back. SO anyhow the back is much better this morning which I am VERY excited about!! YAY! And check out the ticker ladies!!!!

Also.. I really am SO excited you all are here postin your concern and thoughts about my back woes.. thank you SO much. :D It is so wonderful to have such caring supporters! :D
