Well, I am about to turn 40 (shudder) and I have been on the weight yo-yo for my whole life. Even as a teen, when I was in great shape, I felt fat. The longer time went on, the more weight I put on, and more I looked like my head and heart felt.
I got engaged in 2008, and decided it was time for a change if I wanted to be around for my wife for very long. I started eating right, and walking. By my wedding date, in sept. or 2009 I had lost 104lbs. I felt great, and looked better. However, it all went down hill after that. I loved being married, and eating my wife cooking, and stopped doing all the things that had gotten me to where I was. As you can imagine I gained....... and gained........ I shot right back up to 325 in a short 6 months time.
Well, I am BACK BABY! Started eating right, and joined a gym. I am happy to say I am down to 310 as we speak, and I am not going to go back again! I am starting this to keep myself accountable, and to get support from all of you!
Here is some info on me.

8. What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?
Better eating habits, and more exercise.
9. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?
YES! It's simple, eat right, and get off my tush more often.
10. Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back?
Forgot to do the things that I know will make me healthy.
11. What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work?

26. What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise?
Walking, lifting, and golf!

Well, it was a good day yesterday! Got in a walk, and ate well. I am really stressing about the next 4 days. I am taking my wife to the Oregon Coast for a long weekend for her birthday. In the past our trips to the beach revolved around where and when we were going to eat. Of course it was always things that are not good for me. I need to be strong so I don't completely ruin the work I've done the last few weeks.

Wish me luck!!!!!!!

Thanks Invective! I plan on having a good time, and not being too bad as far as food goes. Of course it is the Oregon Coast, so some fresh sea food will be in order......

The Oregon Coast sounds awesome!

Good luck on your diet. Seafoods, salads, moderation....You'll be fine. Enjoy your trip!

Day one down, and all is well. The weather is super stormy, but we have a fire going, and HUGE windows to watch the waves crash in. Food wise I was pretty good, but not perfect.
I am hoping for a break in the storm tomorrow so I can get a nice long walk on the beach in!!!!!!!

Sounds great Lane! Hope you post a pic or two....I've never been to that neck of the woods.

And good luck on the diet.

BOOOOO! That is for a Monday after vacation. Yuck. $ days at the Oregon coast were great. The weather was only semi rainy, and lots of good times with friends. Didn't do great on the diet, but I also didn't craqsh and burn either. It was my wifes 40th birthday, so there was cake, and it was really good. Only one piece for me, which is a victory in my book.
I haven't weighed myself since last wednesday, and I am afraid to now that the weekend is over. I think I will weigh in on Friday to give myself a chance to reverse the damage done over the weekend.
Hope you are all doing well, that is if anyone reads this. : )

WOOF! What a week so far. Long work days, and long nights teaching. No time for the gym, but I have been really good in the food department! I am feeling better every day, and am really looking forward to the weigh in on Friday. Anything below 310 will be a great day, esp. after last weekends poor choices. I am planning on getting to the gym this weekend a couple of times to make up for this week. It has been really hard to make gym time with my two jobs right now.
Hope everyone is well, and I really hope we start to get some nice warm weather soon!

Good morning everyone!
Pretty good day yesterday. Long, but good. On the food front, I did well, but not as good as I could have. I didn't eat enough. Just too busy. That is becoming a real issue for me. I do really well with eating the right things, but I don't do well with eating enough. I need to work on that. For my work out, I walked and walked and walked. The band I teach is getting ready for a parade in a couple weeks, and we were out for 2 hours pounding the pavement. Fun fun.
On a personal note, it was my wifes 40th birthday yesterday, and I got her tickets to see Harry Connick Jr. in the fall! So excited for that!
Hope you are all well!!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Well, another busy day yesterday. No real work out to speak of, but lots of walking again. The band is looking better, and I am feeling better.
The wife is out of town this weekend, and I am stressing about being bored and alone all weekend. Those are the times I tend to eat the wrong things for the wrong reasons. I need strength.
Weighed myself this morningm and I am down to 308. I am super happy with that. I was worrid I would have gained after the birthday cake, and bad food last weekend at the coast.
Hope everyone has a great long weekend, I will be checking in to keep myself accountable.

Hey all! I hope everyone had a great long weekend! Mine was not too bad. I got to go out and play a little golf, and got some things done around the house.
I ate really well up to last night. This was a planned meal, not a slip up, but it was not really on my plan as far as what I have been eating lately.
We fired up the grill, and had some really good steak, and grilled asperagus. I also roasted some potatoes with olive oil and garlic. It was all really good, and really not too bad for me. The problem was the amout I ate. WAYYYYYY TOO MUCH! but it was so good.
I am really looking forward to a good week, and some good walks. Hope to see a little more movement on the scale on Friday.
Hope you are all well! (if anyone reads this)

Okay, I realize I live in Oregon, and everyone knows it is a rainy state. However........ IT IS FREAKING JUNE!!!!!!!! So much rain lately I can't stand it any more. This is the time of year I want to be outside, walking, golfing, swimming, going to the beach. All I want to do in this weather is sit on the couch and eat.......... FRACK!
In other news, I had a good day yesterday. Stayed on plan, and got in a good walk, even in this rain.
I am looking forward to my weigh in on Friday morning, and really want to see another 2lb drop this week...... Wish me luck!

BAD DAY YESTERDAY! uuuggh. I was doing well, until lunch. We had some meetings at work all day, and the office supplied lunch. There were 145 of us in the meeting, and they ordered 10 large pizzas. REALLY? No wonder the country id getting so fat. I left and went to Subway, and got my chicken on wheat with no cheese and was really proud of myself..... Then everyone left around 4, and I was alone in the office till about 6PM. I couldn't stop thinking about the left over pizza in the break room...... I caved and had a piece..... One piece....... and it was not even good.
Of course this made me feel like crap for being so weak. Then when I got home, I had a baked potato with fat free sour cream...... And was still hungry, and my wife was not at home to talk me down so I then had some really good sharp cheddar cheese. Not a lot, about an ounce... but again the guilt. Then it was 4 pickles...... way too much sodium...... then it was a little container of apple sauce with cinnamon sugar on top...
I know these things are not the worst thing in the world, and I didn't really binge like I have in the past, but its the mental thing. I HATE THAT FOOD HAS THIS EFFECT ON ME! Will it ever end? Will I ever be able to think about food as just fuel, or will it always be the enemy?
I hate days like this, and I hate that I am not strong enough to just move on with out beating myself up over it!

Weigh in day was a bust. Last week 308, this week 308. Uhg. Not good for my motivation. I feel like I had a pretty good week. I didn't get to the gym, but did a lot of walking while teaching my marching band getting ready for the Rose Festival. I thought that weighing myself once a wekk would keep me from freeking out about every once up and down during the week, but it is even harder to go a whole week and see no change.

I need a hug! : )

Going to pay golf tomorrow! It actually looks like a warm sunny day here in Oregon for tomorrow. First one of those in a month. I also am going to be with my band at the Rose festival Starlight parade, so that is a good 5 mile walk. Hope it helps!

YEA FOR THE WEEKEND!

You went an entire week and DID NOT GAIN! YAY for you!! I know it seems like a bump in the road, but you didn't gain. Hang in there and keep going strong! You can do this!! Really - you can!

I am also trying to find ways to not give in to my cravings. Drink a whole glass of water before each meal, snack, or when you are having a craving or contemplating eating something off limits. Say to yourself over and over "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" when you are feeling weak. Get up and leave the house and go for a walk when you want to cave in. I know how hard it is and it sucks! We have to be strong! Don't you wish they would close down all the fast food places and outlaw junk food? LOL!

Hang in there - you are doing GREAT!
