a Hillbilly diary

Don't beat yourself up about the avocado. It should be an occasional treat because all those good fats give you great skin and silky hair. I can just imagine your luxurious mane now ... :)

I haven't had it yet I'm having it for dinner. I'm sure it will be good because I love avocados. well I'm not big on the big green ones they taste kinda funny. I like the Haas and I think they are a Florida avocado. The avocados do have a lot of good things in them they are just really high in calories. I have room for them today so i might even half of the other since my calories today are in the 900's and I'm allowed 1800. My cheat day is normally Saturday and its not really a cheat day. I'm overly good for breakfast and lunch which leaves a bunch for the dinner. I don't go out and get ice cream and shakes and things like that. I just go for Chinese or Mexican or Greek or sometimes Italian. I just like the foods that let you know your still alive lol........ The sugar making me sick that was different. Its like it was way too sweet if that makes any sense.

I hear this a lot on forums. People saving calories up so they can have a bigger or better dinner. Makes sense, most of us are used to having a nice dinner.

When I was in the military, we were always taught that you should eat your heavier (read higher calorie) stuff during the day when you are active and have a lighter dinner because you tend to be less active after dinner.

You have been at this longer than I have, do you find that it makes a difference?

I think it does. I have a normal food cheat day on Saturdays but I don't normally go to bed on Saturdays till about 6 am early Sunday morning. so the large meal has from about 8 pm till 6 am to digest and do what it needs to do.

Well its another good day. I haven't been overly hungry so its going OK. Still kinda full from last night and the the lunch today. One of my daughters raided my lemon tree today and I have been instructed to make a lemon pie. The dirty little....... lol. We made it a game of planting fruit trees. They eat them up so on occasional pie for them ain't bad i suppose. Now I want to plant a couple of avocado plants/trees but from seed it takes about 10 years lol. Well the good thing is the more I plant the less I have to mow lol.........

Hey well its true you took the first step. Youre here and thats what matters. At least you arent in denial. I just wanted to tell you to hang in there and to not give up. Dont lose faith. Everybody starts at the same point. With DAY ONE.

Oops. Well sorry for the last post. Im kind of confused but i hope you understand what i tried to say. Dont give up. Youre doing great.

nope, giving up is the furthest from my mind. Im so overweight its not a diet its just a whole new way of eating. If I want to have sugar I will. If there is a fatty piece of meat I want Ill have it. to me its a system of checks and ballances. If I want a scoop of Ice cream ill be extra good the whole day to have that treat. I seem to have a problem with sugar so its not a huge issue for me. Like lastnight I wanted 1 cookie and I had it. since I have lost 50 pounds I dont even feel quilty about it. It made me sick anyhow lol. If I had to guess why its coming off so easily it may be the way it was put on. Since I couldnt move much for two years it just came on day by day of not being able to exercise. Now Im moving more and trying not to put anything in my body thats not mostly natural. I try to stay away from the concentrated sugars. Im not eating many fried foods. So like I said before its not a diet its more a way of eating. Now if I get to where I have to only take in 800 calories to lose weight Ill stop worring about calories and just walk and jog and exercise more. My whole weight loss is by eating the right things.....

its not a diet its just a whole new way of eating. If

You've got the right mindset... i read so many times that people diet.. only to gain back all the weight they lost, and then some... it's not a diet what people need to do.. in fact that word should be stricken from the record.. it is a lifestyle change that people need to make :)

You're doing awesome Lee... :D

I ended up having the other half of the leftover avocado so it brings me to a total of 938+200= 1138 So Im way under my 1800 so its a good day.

Too much sugar makes me ill, too. It actually makes my 8 y/o daughter sick to her stomach too. I don't make many cookies or cakes and we never have candy around the house. Not for the diet or anything, just because it makes us ill if we have too much of it. And I don't mean an upset stomach, I mean physically ill, like the stomach flu.

I have noticed since I've changed my eating habits that I taste more now than before. I'm wondering if it's because I've cut out a lot of processed foods?? what do you think?

manaloa it could be. Since I use to drink so many cokes and such it never bothered me before. Now It tasted good but I got nauseous soon after.

You had something you really wanted! Good for you! I too, LOOOOVE avocados to death. I could totally eat them raw. They have tons of good uses, even beauty! Tip: if you find yourself looking at one and don't want to eat it.. mash it up, and put it on your clean face for about 10 minutes, then rinse it off. You'll have the softest skin you ever had :)

Keep going! You're doing very well!

Thanks for the tip. yes I love avocados. I have heard they are good for the skin. If I were to get caught smearing avocado gunk on my face Id get arrested in these parts lol...... aw just teasing, thanks...........

WOW... I am impressed with your weight loss. You have a long road ahead of you and yet you're so movitvated! I envy your motivation and admire your determination. Good luck!

How's my fifty pound mark soul mate doing? You've rolled further past it than me...I gotta catch up to you. Doing great, sweetie!! You are making such wonderful progress not only in the weight loss department but in your mindset about eating. Our minds are the hardest thing to get in order, but you've got a really balanced outlook in that regards. And that's why you are succeeding.

All this talk about avocados, though is making me hungry. I always did want to try the mashed avocado on the face....only I knew I'd be trying to lick it off my face like a cat after I sprinkled it with a little garlic salt and lime juice. LOL!!!!
