a Hillbilly diary

Well today wasn't bad. every thing went pretty well. I picked up a bag of mixed berries and made a smoothie. It needed a banana to sweeten it up but was fine. Dinner was a lot of calories but I hadn't had many before that. That damn Texas gene wants steak or ground beef once in awhile and its hard to fight it. Ah well I come from a long line of carnivores and its hard just to turn it off sometimes lol......
 
you might have answered this before and I just missed it, but does your doctor think you should not have lean beef? It seems like an occasional lean steak would not be a bad menu choice at all. And they have ground beef now that is like 97% lean. Not a speck of grease to even drain off after it is browned. I am not trying to tempt you with something you really should not have, I was just wondering if these are forbidden entirely. :)
 
mom she dosent seem to concerned with my fat intake since i never have been a huge fan of fatty foods. My last cholestoral test for the total was just a little over 180. The only concern about eating fatty meats is that it seems to have more calories than the leaner cuts. Ill see her again in a few weeks for another checkup.
 
well here is the damage for today. It probably too much bread but I wanted it...

Breakfast----- breakfast sandwich---- 2 slices wheat, 1 slice of turkey bacon, 1 egg
(245 calories)

Lunch---- slice of cheese sandwich---- 2 slices of wheat, 1 slice of processed cheese
(210 calories)

Dinner--- baby arugula leaves with 2 Tbsp green goddess dressing
(140 calories) {Wow 05 calories for a whole cup of arugula my new best friend}

Snacks--- smoothie ---- frozen mixed berries, 1 cup of 2%, 1 cup no fat yogurt, 1 banana
{80-130-140-121
(471 calories)----- Makes almost two pints for two seperate snacks.

Drinks- water, orange juice
(210 calories)

Total------1276 calories

Wow those mean mean kids. They decided they wanted chili dogs and homemade onion rings in beer batter. I didn't have any but I cooked it and made their plates ugggg just not nice. I just might have me a good bad day next week with chili dogs and pizza and enough ice cream and fudge to fill a bath tub and and and....... or maybe ill just stick to my diet and growl at them for a week or so lol................well ill weigh in Friday or Saturday. I'm thinking probably Saturday. If the numbers aren't right ill do a Texas version of the river dance on that itty bitty scale, that'll teach it lol..........
 
Haha....kids can be sooo mean with food. Today I had to watch them eat chocolate donuts, cookies.....and I had to make them grill cheese, which I love, especially with lots of potato chips. But I stuck with my chicken and veggies and ate it proudly.
Keep on going though. Who needs all that junk anyway :rolleyes:
 
living with family I think makes a diet twice as hard. They always want something you cant have and you say you dont want it but its always there in the back of your mind.
 
I don't think that's too much bread. Besides, it was wheat bread, so that's good. If it was white bread, that would be a different story. ;) Ahhh, fudge. That sounds so good. We have some in the fridge right now cause the kids and hubby just had to have it. I've been trying to avoid it. Thanks for reminding me. :p Yep, it would be nice if we could live without the kids for awhile or something while trying to lose weight. Lol! :rolleyes: Beer battered onion rings. They were just trying to torture you! Hope you have a good weigh in! But I would like to see that Texas version of the river dance! :D
 
I never did understand why you cant have white bread but wheat or whole grain is OK. Its seems like bread is bread and yeast is yeast. Maybe there is a difference in the way your body handles the starch. I'm not sure I just try to eat the way I should. If i want a sweet Ill have it. I just haven't gotten to that point where I felt i Had to have it. I know if i get back on cokes I probably wont get back off of them for awhile. I have drank colas since I was little and Its just something when i drink them I feel so good and its such a rush. Its hard to explain. I just seem overly sensitive to the sugar in the cola or maybe its just the cola itself. who knows but its one of the things I'm avoiding. My dinner and lunch seems to vary but now that I'm eating breakfast again I love eggs. They say eggs are bad for you then they say they aren't. I have tried the egg beaters and they are OK but they just don't seem the same. I guess they taste more like eggs whites with yellow food coloring. They are way lower in calories than the eggs we buy at 70 calories each, that would would leave more calorie room if I wanted to make something like an omelet. I guess the eggs come from my old football coach that make us drink 4 raw eggs before each practice. There are so many foods I have to find away around. its just like starting over. I do have enough cooking know how I think i can adapt most things. well thats enough venting and pondering the little thoughts in the back of my head.
 
it's not just any wheat bread you're supposed to have -it's the whole grain that makes it good (not all wheat bread is whole grain) white bread is just white flour- over processed so all the good stuff is taken out of it... and you're just left with -- carb that turn to sugar that turn to fat... :)

I hope the scale is kind to you today... you deserve it :)
 
Eggs aren't bad for you. Eggs are bad if you're in danger of high cholesterol. You definitely aren't. They're a great source of protein.
 
You made all that food and didn't have any? That is a testament to your strength and will power. You are a true inspiration!!! I'm sending uber positive vibes to your scale today.

Thanks all.... I'm going to weigh in the morning. I set up a Saturday morning weigh in and I'm sticking to it. I set up Saturday because me and a friend of mine would weigh on that day. I really don't feel any lighter so ill weigh in the morning and I'm not expecting any positive results. I feel as though I have stalled. I wont have any proof till tomorrow morning when i get on the scale but its just a feeling.... I should probably switch to Fridays it seems thats when everyone Else weighs..........

From reading your diary- I would be highly surprised if you didn't see a lower number on the scale in the morning. You're doing great!

I was worried about eggs too when I started Atkins last time. But they are really good for you! Just like Cannon 2006 said, unless you already have really high cholestorol don't worry! Fogeddabawdit! :)

Congrats on losing 41 pounds so far! That is excellent! I have so much respect for your discipline and weight loss! You rule.

thanks. Its been fairly easy so far. My body was use to way more calories so its just naturally burning more for now....

Oh, I love eggs :) There for awhile, my family of 3 was going through almost 2 dozen a week.

I've slowed down a lot, but I'm still not ready to try egg beaters ;)
