A diary: from 180Kg to a healthy body

So I need to lost a minimum of 80-90Kg... If you would like to real the whole store, please look at my introductory post.

The process I follow is:
- Control my food intake using the old Weight Watchers system (so not the new propoints one). I eat whatever I want, but limited by their points. That would mean, if I eat a big mac, the rest of the day I can only eat fuits and vegetables. I can tell you, that only happened once :)
- Cardio on my home trainer (try to get a total of 2h15m per week)
- Mountain biking
- walking around 10-20km each week
- Wii fit (I built a step under the supplied board, to make it a more of a real exercise)
- Resistance training using my own body weight and two dumbbell starter kits

At the point of writing this post, I've managed to lose 15KGs over a period of 3 months using this system, which makes me 165KG. This doesn't count 2 weeks of holiday in Sweden during those 2 weeks, as in those weeks I barely managed to keep my weight stable.

As I am a big big gadget freak, I have a lot of gadgets to help me in my trainings and to keep me motivated. A fitness watch, a bicycle computer, and a smartphone with GPS using the runkeeper application. It just keeps me going when I get to upload my activities to my diary :)
Are any of you like that too?

And here's for my first Entry:

This week I was feeling a bit guilty as I hadn't done much in terms of exercise yet. Today the weather was nice (not obvious in Belgium, even in summer :p), so I took half a day and went mountain biking.
I did overdo it a bit, I did 40km but in fact I was exhausted after 30km already. Overcompensating for the guilty feeling I guess?

The online coaching program is telling me that I shouldn't do any exercises for 2 days after my trip yesterday, and so is my body! Still, I plan on doing some weight lifting tonight, I figure as long as I don't use my leg muscles it'll be ok.
Had a huge boost today when a colleague told me he could see I was losing a lot of weight in my face.
I had my usual breakfast today which consist of 50g of bread with some non-fat cheese/ham/chicken/... and a non-fat yoghurt. I always bring it to work as I can't eat right after I get up, so colleagues are making gentle fun of my bread box :)
I always eat white bread, though I often see people say that one should really eat non-white bread. However, Weight watchers charge a little more points for brown bread than for white, I wonder why?

Yesterday evening I had some candy, I had the WW points to pay for it though so I don't really feel that guilty. Today we go to some friends who have organised a brunch, I'm hoping there is lots of fruit there or I won't be able to eat much.

Well, I managed to limit my intake, only half a piece of birthday cake, besides that there was lots of fruit, and 1 piece of bread with cheese. AND I came home and did some weight lifting! Feeling pretty good about that, as if I burned that piece of cake immediately :)
Tonight I'll make fish with potatoes in papilotte, with some savoury fresh tomatoes, mjam!

Well done for losing the 15 kg so far, losing weight can be tough but as long as you stay focus you will keep losing the weight!:) Goodluck

Congrats on losing the 15kg! :) I hope you can get some support from the forum! Wii fit seems like a great add on your excercise plan, I'd like to try it too! I get all worn out after walking like 200m (lol!) so Wii fit might be a nice way to get one's fitness level up.

So, the end of the week has come, traditionally for me the moment to weigh myself, take my measurements, and look at my exercises for the week.
This week:
- I managed to stay within my WW points, with all extra points from exercises unused.
- I did eat some unhealthy stuff: Half a piece of cake, some cookies, half a croissant
- A total of 5 exercise sessions: 2x weight lifting, 1 6.6KM walk, 1 42.6KM mountain bike ride, and finally today 22.2KM mountain bike ride. 5 is less than average, with the notorious lack of any Cardio this week (except the walk maybe.). I should do more cardio next week.
Total exercise duration: 6h50m
Calories burned: 6992
Calories burned is more than ever before, mainly due to the long bike ride.

Weight: 164.5Kg, lost only 1/2Kg this week
waist: 124cm, which is 1.5cm off from last week

Overall, I am pretty happy with this week, and well on my way to my goal of 162Kg by the end of August.

Congrats on half the kg lost this week hun:):), and dont worry about eating abit of bad food here and there, as long as it doesnt turn out of days on end eating bad food then you'll be ok:):) Just pick yourself up and say 'it wasnt worth it and i will continue eating healthy'. I went through my food diary last night and i had 9 binge food days in the last 7 weeks. Eeeeeek, and i havent given up on my goal to get healthy:)

You are doing so great with al the exercises:) Keep up the fab work chick xoxox

Thank you for you encouraging words Irishprincess! I must say that I am not a native english speaker so should words like "hun" and "chick" indicate you think I am female, I must state that I am male!

As to my thoughts of this morning, I am amazed how much my weight can vary from one day to another. I weighed myself:
Yesterday morning right after getting up: 164.5KG
Yesterday evening right before going to bed: 164.5KG
Today right after getting up: 163.2KG
This is almost 3 pounds difference! I've seen this kind of variation before. This kind of puts in a new perspective when my wife goes on the scale and panics "OH MY GOD I'VE GAINED 200 GRAMS!!!!" :)

That is hilarious, i am so sorry!! I thought you were female. My bad yet again. This hasn't been the first time this has happened on here haha

Anyways keep up the great work dude:)

Yesterday I went for a 6km walk with some friends and the dogs, since I started walking I am still in the process of discovering my own region and every time I am amazed by the beautiful places you never get to see when you just use the car.
It has been raining on and off for about a month now, so it was really very muddy, but the dog only enjoyed that more.
Nothing special to report on the food plan, followed it.
Today, I got up a little earlier and started off my day with some weight lifting, about 30 minutes of it (excluding warm-up). I'm still deciding whether I like to do my weight lifting in the morning or in the evening, I'm still having trouble to get up earlier for exercises :)

I have received a few questions about exercising with Wii Fit, as I posted about it here and there;
is an example of a training session on my Wii Fit, with the balance board on a 15cm platform I built.
Perhaps not as constant as a real cardio session, but still a good workout in my opinion, and a lot more fun :)

I've just had a huge bowl of vegetable soup so I'm quite full at the moment, but once that passes I shall break out the balance board for another Wii Fit session.

There is a gym almost next to the building I work in, I've been thinking about registering there and going over during my lunch break (or before or after, I have pretty flexible working hours, just as long as in total I work A LOT). But I haven't brought myself that far yet, it is amazing and completely irrational how self-conscious I am and still I let myself grow this big.
On a lighter note, I committed myself on climbing Mont Ventoux in fall 2012 on a bike, so I guess I'm going to have to lose a lot more weight before I manage that...

Wow, that's a huge commitment! That's the way to do it, keep your eye on that goal. I'm sure that will be an amazing experience!

Omg, climbing Mont Ventoux would be such a huge achievement to do, you have so much time to get fit till then, i know you can do this!! You are doing super great, keep it up:)
