Love that saying Deb. What off ramp do you take for T Street? Is it that weird one that starts with a "T" (tee hee). Hopefully I can make it. C has a piano lesson in the am and we have a few other things to do before we can take it easy and enjoy the day. After my walk this am I went to Latha's house and she turned me on to this great CD. You know how much I love classical....well this is Freddie Mercury from Queen and Montserrat Caballe an Opera star (classical with rock influence). The CD is entitled "Barcelona". It is so cool! I am going to rip it to my computer after this message to you. I'll bring my Samsung to the beach so you can listen to it. Bring your iPod so I can listen to Dave Matthews. I am not sure I know who he is.

Walkin again tomorrow with Latha. I listened to my Samsung while walking with her - how rude, huh! I just put it on low and it's background music. Kinda blocks the traffic noise.

Hopefully I'll see ya tomorrow girl. Bye for now - ta ta.

Denise

I have New Balance shoes too. Aren't they great? I love mine. They provide great support and I get so much use outta them. They're pricier than the normal shoe but so much better quality. I'm really impressed by them.

Talk about irony, I bought my third pair of NB 608's today. I just love that model. I probably got over 1000 miles out the last pair which is a bit high for walking like us daily walkers do. I have found out it's recommended to replace your sneakers every 300 to 500 miles not to mention having a second pair to alternate with every day or so.

Do you walkers alternate sneakers ?? just curious...

I do. I have a pair of Saucony sneakers too that I rotate with. I find that rotating shoes helps extend their life. And I've heard it's actually better for your feet.

Good Morning Everyone :D

The calories for yesterday were 1114 and I put in 4.2 miles this morning.

Denise, I take the El Camino Real exit, go right. Go to the light, Barcelona, turn left, take it down towards the beach and the street jogs to the right and merges into Trafalgar which T's at the beach.

C - I like the new shoes, but I can't tell a huge difference between them and my $14.00 pair from Target. I'm thinking the real test will be in how many miles I get out of them.

T2 - 1000 miles off the old pair, that is amazing! I think my models are 408, they're running shoes, not walking shoes, I really don't know the difference yet - but I like the mesh top, it keeps my feet cool! And I hate it when my feet get hot!

Hi M2M - great choice on the NB's you will notice the difference if you ever go back - proper shoes are real back savers! I have had NB for about 7 years now - will never switch brands! BF ripped a bunch of DMB for me - will try this week @ the gym. - Have a mini goal for August 31st. Hoping to wear that mini skirt again, and the bikini etc. for a weekend of camping and fun! Thanks for the motivation - I see you have an August goal too, Best of Luck - NAT

Ohh Nat, I can't wait to hear how you like DMB - I think Crash is probably his most often played song...but almost all of his music is great :D Of course, I'm a bit biased!

Denise, sorry you couldn't make it to the beach, but I completely understand! Great job on all the walking you did and I enjoyed catching another 1.2 miles with you today :)

Hello M2M hope you had a fun weekend, sorry I didn't get on here since last Friday or something.:( Ner looks like you're still going strong though, keep it up!:)

Oh listening to your talk about the beach in california.....oh how I wish I lived near the Ocean. Upstate NY is beautiful....but there is something to say for the ocean and warm summers day!
Your doing incredible and I am glad you love the NB shoes. They are my fave! I also alternate between 2 other pair of sneakers I have (mizuno and NB) ...I also like to think I can stretch their lives a little longer!

Good Morning Spelin :)
The beach really was gorgeous yesterday, it was one of those picture post card days!

And upstate NY IS beautiful!!

I'll have to look in to getting a second pair of shoes, it might be good for the feet to have the change.

I'm out the door for my walk, I'll be back soon :D

I like New Balance quite a bit, but I've actually switched to the $20 Target type shoes because they come in wider sizes. I have 13 EE feet (That's part of why my target weight is over 200 pounds). Anytime I have a pair like Nike I roll over in them and they last about 3 months. Anyway, great job so far M2M. Wow! You're almost down 50.

I know what you mean about the "picture post card" days at the beach! Those perfect days where there is not one darn thing to complain about. Your kids are happy playing in the waves, the waves are a beautiful torquoise color, there is a slight breeze keeping you cool, you have good friends to chat with, & the wonderful sound of the ocean relaxing your soul. I think I am the most thankful when I am at the beach. Sounds weird, I know, but it's true. We are very luck to live so close.

OK, enough of that..... keep up the great work Deb. Have a great day!

Determined Denise

Oh Cannon, you mentioning your shoe size reminded me of my dad...he had 7.5 EEE I think his feet were as wide as they were long ;)

I walked 4.4 miles this morning and yesterday's calories were around 1335. I snacked while fixing dinner, although it wasn't major and my calories were at 1205 - so I just 'threw in' about 130 calories to cover the snacking that I wasn't 'sure' of.

And Cannon, I know - I am creeping up on the big 50 - I have to say, when I started this journey, and I realized I had 102 pounds to lose, I thought "NO WAY" that is impossible. I couldn't imagine losing 50, and it's soooo nice to be able to prove myself wrong!

If you need any DMB files, let me know. I think the only two bands that exceed DMB on my play list is Stevie Ray Vaughn and Alice Cooper, maybe Queen.

Oh T2 - thanks - when it comes to Dave, I have him covered ;) But then, that's ALL the music I have, so while I tend to be pretty faithful to Dave, a little variety is needed ;)

And I love SRV - what an amazing guitarist he was. I'll PM you :D

And on the EXCITING front today,
I had 15 minutes to run in to Target to shop while my mother in law was getting her hair trimmed.

I ran in, checked the clearance rack and got the cutest linen skirt - size *16* for $4.98!!

I think I'm going to LOVE shopping.

My one pair of 18's are baggy - and the 16 is definitely loose around the waist - which I don't understand since I was 9 pounds lighter then I am now the last time I was in a size 16 - but that was December 1990.

Things might have changed ;)

Hi M,

Your body is probably changing shape like Scarletts is. All that walking is leaning you up, but you weigh more than you did prior in that size because you have fabulous firm muscles now.

I'm glad you friend is coming back.....maybe she will skip some walking days so you can listen to your ipod :)

Have a great Wednesday!

I must say that you look fabulous for approaching 50! You are doing so wonderful and I'm certainly proud of your successes. I can only hope some of your success will rub off on me!

M2M you are doing incredible....You are an inspiration. And almost half way to your goal! OMG that is amazing!

Yeah, what Pineola said!!! I really truly believe it's the walking....you and I put alot of miles in and although maybe we can see a difference (mainly because our butt is on the opposite side of our body from our eyes LOL) the clothes must be the telltale sign. Because the last time I was this size I know it was like a good twenty pounds difference....fifteen at the least.

So let's just keep walking, girl!!! Because it's doing something!!!!

And you are going to TOTALLY love shopping for new clothes and giving away your old ones. It's like peeling off a coccoon and coming out all new and shiny.

And that halway mark is SO CLOSE!!!!!!! Can't wait!!!

Good Morning Everyone!

I had a great walk - 4.4 miles, but I'm shaving time off :D

Yesterday I had a day with far too few calories (764), but I didn't *intend* to have that few, it just happened. They were really healthy, good calores, but I definitely plan on cycling up today ;)

Jenn - looking back, I wished I had taken some before pictures, just standing still, front, side and back - I have some pictures that I will use when the time comes, but it won't be the same as standing in the same positioin, in the same spot and retaking the pictures after a 50 pound loss. When I get there though, I will have Bob take some :D

And success is rubbing off all over the place - look at you girl, you are down 20 pounds!! And more importantly, you are out there living your life and enjoying your time with your son! My signature quote was put there with you in mind!

Spelin, thanks :D Although, at the moment I feel a lot more perspiration than inspiration ;) (Can you tell I haven't hit the showers yet?)!

Scarlett, you really are a doll! I think you're right, the walking has changed the shape of where I'm at compared to the last time I was here. I have a pair of jeans that I wore to Disneyland in December 1990. They were my first step up into size 16's and I weighed 205. I put them on, and they're snug at the waist (the love muffin look), but they are baggy in the butt and thighs - and since the only excercise I've been doing is walking, it certainly targets that region ;)

I ran out last night tried on some more clothes (I didn't buy any) and every 16 I tried on, fit. The styles are so different now though and I could see a real difference in how misses and women's size 16's fit.

I don't want to buy much because I have so much left to lose! I do plan on keeping some of my old clothes until I hit my goal - I'm looking forward to taking those pictures wearing them and holding out the waist band, you know, the typical model of a weightloss picture ;)

I'll be home more today and will eat better and be able to get to some diaries - I hope you're all doing well!
