Congratulations! You're doing so great and you're a real inspiration!

Have fun with your book club and wine party:D they sound like lots of fun!

M2M,

wow, congrats on your progress for the week. I'm impressed! I'd pat ya on the back, but I'm still sick.... see how curtious I am? lol

Wow M2M, you're doing fantastic. I am getting back in the walking routine tomorrow. I need to start making myself work up early again and it'll help. 17 minute miles for that far is quite impressive.

Good Morning!

Today is my rest day, and it's a good thing - that walk last night pushed my limits! These muscles need a rest :D

This morning I'll be finishing cleaning the inside of the house and doing the shopping for tonight's party. Since it's mostly pot luck, I have no idea what others will bring, so I have to figure out what I will eat and snack on.

Mike - thanks for not sharing your cold - a fine gentleman you are!
Kino - thanks for stopping by. I am hoping the parties go off well! I planned them back to back so I would only have to prep once LOL!
L-Jay - I'm glad you popped in to my diary, it's good to see you back and on track!
Wishes, it really felt like a lot of walking - more then last week's 7+ the last mile or so, I FELT the burn!! Each week, I'm adding a mile to my endurance walk until I'm up to 13 miles at a shot. Then I really want to break the 15 minute mark.
Lee - you absolutely cracked me up! I can eat what I want, just plan on walking a good 50-60 miles!!??!! I think I'm going to pass on the cheese plates instead, I'd just DIE doing the alternative. I have no idea how people crossed the US settling the west - that's a whole lotta miles!

*editing to include Cannon's post*
Cannon, thanks! It's hard to think of 17 minute miles as impressive when I compare to runners - eek! But when I look at where I was when I started (22 minute miles at a tops of 2 miles a shot) then I can really see the progress!

The wine party is going to be tough - I bought some yummy looking wines. I plan on doing a varietel comparison between California, US, Australia & French wines. So I have a cab, merlot, chardonnay, and shiraz from each country and a comparison between malbac from s. france & argentina (the only two places it's growing well). So the whole point will be to try some of EACH.

ACK! The trick I've learned from being in this wine club for 3.5 years is to sample the bottles that are the least full. Those are the ones that are the best ;)

OOOHH .. I love a good Shiraz...have recently had a good one from Australia. Gotta love a good glass of wine and some bread and cheese (goat preferably) and a little dark chocolate to end. To eat and live like the FRench...AHHHHH! Good luck with your party and COngrats on the awesome walking schedule...your incredible!!!

Wow! You're a smart little drinker aren't you? Great tip on drinking from the bottles with the least amt in them. I would have never thought of that. You are probably getting lots of exercise cleaning your house as well. Don't forget to add a few extra for that! Good luck staying away from the cheese!

mmmmm wine parties... I haven't been to one of those in ages. Living in a blue coller beer drinking town is to blame I suppose...

so what kind of cheese are ya offering at this party m2m?
(mouth watering)

I gotta stop thinking about all this... I might find myself at the bar tonight lol

OK - I survived....one down...one to go!

I'm feeling STUFFED, but I purposely sat next to a huge bowl of blueberries and strawberries and it was almost gone at the end of the evening.

I had one glass of wine, about 6-8 mini meatballs in a BBQ sauce, about 1/4 cup of veggie chili with a few chips sprinkled on top, about 4 small slices of pepper jack cheese on the reduced fat wheat thins, same with the cheddar cheese and a few swipes of the brie. Oh, and about two tablespoons of a bean salad. I'm guestimating that my total daily calories after the party was about 1700-1800. I could have done better, but man, is it tough!

Mike - I LOVE a good beer! As for cheese, we had all kinds, cheddar, pepper jack, swiss, brie, cream cheese with a raspberry chipolte sauce. Some fruit torte with a brie like cheese as the base. Strawberries with sour cream & brown sugar. Another bowl of strawberries with some whipped marshmallow fluff stuff (I didn't have or prepare) and my large bowl of strawberries & blueberries plain.

I'm walking with my girlfriend at 7:00 tomorrow.

I think I need to start earlier to get Lee's prescribed 50-60 miles in ;)

You did great M2M. In those situations I try not to concentrate on what I ate, but on how many calories I saved compared to what I used to eat. I think it is a great thing to do to remind yourself how much you would have eaten in the past.

I dunno M2M... I think you showed alot of restraint. Especially since it's a wine party... You're expected to have one or two glasses. And lots of food and samples to help your palette. I think you did fairly well. *applauds*

Parties that are based on food are especially hard! I think you showed great restraint. Good for you for sticking to your goals!!:)

This kind of reads like porn for us cheesy, salty, bready, chocolate-y kind of girls!! Right, M2M?

Good job on the one party, and I'm sure you'll be as successful with the next one. Congrats on reaching your mini-goal. We knew you would do it!!! You've got some strong determination. If only I could walk a couple hundred miles in your shoes!!!!

Oh yeah, yes it does!!!!! Anyhoo you did great it takes some real restraint to resist all that yummy stuff! so give yourself a pat on the back, you rock. And good job on all the walking, i'm just sterting to get up to 1/2 an hour with out dying so you are an inspration to me!!!! later:p

You guys are great! I was feeling really full last night and because of that, feeling like I over did it, but the primary reason for feeling full was eating the berries, and I'm OK with that ;)

Cannon, I think you're right, it's really good to step back and look at what I would have eaten in the past. OMG - there's no comparrison.

C, thanks, it was actually my book club meeting - my wine club is tomorrow. You're right, it's much harder with the wine club. The whole point of the theme of my wine club is to try the various varietels...all 14 of them ;) ACK! What was I thinking when I planned this???

Moondance, thanks! :D It really is nice to hear I didn't blow it THAT much! It's also been hard today knowing that all that food is sitting in my fridge! As it is, all my calories for the day have come from cheese & crackers today  I'm at 550 calories, which is less then where I'd be if I ate full meals, so I'm chalking this up to a grazing day ;)

Scarlet, OMG - you are too funny! Yes, it's tough being the cheesy, salty, bready, chocolate-y kind of girls we are!! As for walking in my shoes, you can walk next to them ANY time you make it to CA! As for added miles, I put in a 4.7 mile walk this morning...

reach4Astar, when I first started, I was walking about a half an hour at a time - it doesn't take long to build up the stamina and speed, it just takes consistancy! You're doing great!

Thanks L-Jay, I think the biggest key for me was positioning myself on the OPPOSITE side of the seating arrangement from the cheese & crackers - if I wanted some, I had to GET up and move to the other side to get it - and having something I could snack the whole time on and not feel overly guilty about!

It would be so fun to host a wine party! I know nothing about wines. I went to a party once with work peers (attorneys, judges, etc), I tried to act sophisticated and poured a Merlot... GAG!!!!!!!! It was worse tasting then Nyquil. I guess I am more of a wine cooler girl. hehe. I hope you have a good party!

Hi Deb,

I enjoyed reading all your posts this morning. Looking forward to your party tonight. My walking buddy called this morning and she cannot make it. I will do some other exercise this morning.

You are doing so awesome on your weight loss journey. You are my inspiration. Isn't all the well-deserved positive attention a great added bonus of weight loss?

See you tonight.....Denise

Hey Chica! I just wanted to check in on you. You're doing so good. I appreciate your journal, it's giving me some motivation right now. hehe

Eeek! So I didn't get my walking in today - not a good day for not exercising and now it's too hot!

My husband bought a HUGE mirror (we have a tiny condo) and we spent the early morning hanging it. It's pretty - but ahem...big ;)

So the house is clean, the back yard is clean, watered, planted and furniturized. I have all the food prepared and on the plates it will be served on...sitting in the fridge - here's the appetizer menu...

Small shrimp & cocktail sauce plate
Spinach, Artichoke & Cheese dip surrounded by a cheese onion bread (torn up bits)
Veggie Chili surrounded by Three Cheese Flat Bread
Cream Cheese & Chipolte Sauce & Crackers
Italian Meatballs in BBQ Sauce
Cheese Platter with Cheddar, Pepper Jack, Dill Havarti, Brei, Salami with Cream Cheese & peppercinis and fruit with crackers

For dessert...

A 3 tier, dark chocolate cake with a layer of milk chocolate mousse with a white chocolate topping. I also have a lemon crunch pound cake for an alternative.

I hope I have enough food.

Have I mentioned I'll be glad when this party is over? I'm sick of thinking about FOOD!
