A dairy from India

Juniii! I made the yogurt!!! I love store bought yogurt, but after having the homemade stuff, i dont think ill be able to go back! It tastes sooooo good!! It turned out less thick than the store bought kind but damn delicious! Im so going to be making this ALL the time-and its so much cheaper to make it at home too! huge rip off at the stores eh! its like what the hell!?

Aren't they the best thing in the world. congratulations, nightrunner!! yes, you will start finding the store bought ones really weird tasting after you make your own yogurt. If you are missing the thickness, try straining the yogurt in a muslin cloth for a little bit-ummm....creamy and heavenly!!

So whats going on on your end, you've been quiet-i miss you! i know your days are super busy but i hope all is well

It has been a week from hell, but it will be over soon. :) Internet at home was screwed for a few days. I was so bummed the first night when I cam home and couldn't come online and in this forum. I have missed you too.

Juni, Congrats! you lost 6.9lb and starting to run... I will be doing that as well after ramadan..... I lost alot of weight with running before, so hopefully I get to do it again....

Hi Khaleda!! Been a long time! Ramadan Mubarak! How are you holding up with fasting?

Thanks re: lbs lost. I think I have gained em back- just haven't been near the scales lately.

My running hasn't started yet either- my ipod with all my C25k podcasts died on me.

Hope you are well!

Juni!!!!!!!!!!! I missed you!!!

And guess what?? There's only 4 more days left in the week :D We can all make it through.

That really sucks about your ipod :( I hope you get it sorted out, and can start running soon. It will be so rewarding and you'll feel proud! But until then, be proud anyway ;) I doubt you've gained all those pounds back! I'm happy for you that you're enjoying dance! The private lessons will definitely give you extra motivation :D So shake your booty and enjoy yourself :D

Good luck with the rest of the week :D you can do it :)

Veges and yoghurt sounds yummy, that ok !!

Tis good. U should try it sometime. I used yogurt instead of oil or butter. It gets a little watery, but I like that. Just make sure you don't leave it on in the fire for too long! :)

I use these all the time! :)

Thanks Kara. I use his podcasts too, but they are all in MP4 format, and since my ipod died, I tried to move them to my phone but it only plays MP3. I know...i just learnt all this. :) Don't worry, I am sure I'll figure out a way or buy a new ipod.

How are things with you?

Hello hello...I've missed you too. I hope you are having a wonderful week. I am popping over to your diary to say hello and see what you have been upto. :hat:

Hey Juni! Good to see you on the forum again-too bad your internet's down. I feel sooo lost whenever it cuts out at home. I actually no longer have use for the computer when its down...lol

Great to hear your enjoying your dance class! I'm so happy that you're getting private lessons, because like you said you will HAVE to be regular with your workouts! you get the added advantage of having your lessons in the mornings as well. Way to kick up your metabolism for the rest of the day!

Sorry to hear about your ipod :(- losing things or having things shut down on you in general is crappy but especially if they have sentimental value.

Sooo the weekend is only 2 days away! Any plans?

Its awful when your ipod dies. I dropped mine and broke it and it felt like i'd broken a part of myself (drama queen)... It was lots of fun getting a new one though (had to save up for it though).

What will you be doing on the weekend. it's my mum's b'day and so I'm trying to come up with something fun to do with her.:waving:

So i am a dumbass...i found out that Robert Ullery actually also has the podcasts in MP3 format, which my phone plays!! :hurray::hurray: I just discovered this and I am totally excited. Downloading all the weeks so I can put it up in my phone and run run run. Kara, I think this was what you meant, thank you thank you. :)

Just came back from my Bharatnatyam (dance) class. Its hard, but I am loving it. I NOT AT ALL graceful, and keep failing to stay balanced. It is only my second class, hopefully I'll get better in the weeks to come.

Food has been ok.

2nd Sept log:

B- Yogurt (one big bowl), a piece of toast

L- boiled bulgar wheat, sprouts, sauteed veggies

Dinner- two chappatis and some veggies

Snack- small piece of bread with PB (at 10pm- wtf?)

Also had lots of cucumbers and a guava for snack in between.

I am gonna start C25k from Friday. This place is so good for accountability so I can come here and talk my heart out about it tomorrow.

Oh, I am attending an Indian wedding for a very close friend here tonight. I took a day off- the commitment ceremony is today in the morning- I am wearning a shalwar kameez for that (simple cotton thingie), then the reception is at night and I am going to wear a saree...I am soooo excited!! I got to know the bride through work and love her and her to-be husband to bits. Totally looking forward to joining them in their happy day. Now the problem would be to make good choices- there will be booze, unhealthy food. I will try my best.

No plans for the weekend yet. I am thinking about going to work later on Sunday to finish a few things, but I have Saturday to myself. Just thinking about hanging out around the house, read, clean up.

What is everyone upto?

Juni, what would be the point of taking the class if you were good at it!? Enjoy the challenge of learning the techniques. There is nothing more satisfying than when you conquer a move! Great to hear you are loving it though! THAT’S what makes the difference between making time to workout and looking for time to workout.

I’m so uncoordinated myself and when I first started step class I was constantly reverting back to the basic “knee corner to corner” because I couldn’t do all the quick high intensity moves the class and instructor were doing. I kept at it though because I kept telling myself that they were in my shoes once too but now they are pros! I wouldn’t call myself a pro because I still falter a handful of times during a session, but when I have a particularly good class, I'm totally patting myself on the back. It’s now my favourite cardio class!

Talk your heart out girl! I look forward to swapping experiences :)
I'm soooo jealous of you!!! I love Indian weddings!!! Oohh and the fooood! :drool5: When my best friend got married she got me a langa. Its soooo beautiful and I'm constantly looking for excuses to wear it. I’ve only worn it once to a Pakistani wedding since her wedding but wow. Talk about gorgeous! Saree’s are soo elegant too- though I'm guessing it requires some serious talent to be able to wear it-and walk in it for that matter! You’re so lucky! I hope you have a wonderful time at the wedding!

Snack- small piece of bread with PB (at 10pm- wtf?)

Juni! thats amazing!!! Being able to stop at that is a huge step forward. Be proud of yourself! Besides, judging by your menu for the day it was within your calories for the day so no harm done!! :)

hiya everyone!!

Im back. The last time I wrote, I was preparing to go to a wedding. The wedding was awesome. The bride was looking radiant, the groom happy and it was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I have ever been to.

My diet for the day was not so beautiful, though. I was good all day, then at the reception I ate all kinds of bad food for appetizers. Then I had to get a grip, so for dinner I ate a lot of salad (beetroot---yum!), some fish a little bit of ravioli and I had NOOO dessert. I am proud of myself. But I had about four glasses of wine soo :smash:

Friday was also quite meh! There was a farewell cake for one of my collegues, which I had too much of. Then in the evening I was invited to a birthday party, where I had wine, samosas and some dumplings. I was totally full. Then we went out and I had another glass of wine. I stopped at two glasses last night.

Today has been good so far:

Woke up at like 11am (wtf?) I didn't have a late night, so I dont know how I could have slept through my alarm. Hmm...anyway, it was good sleep though. Then I had to run out for some errands that took too long and by the time I was back home it was 2.30pm and I hadn't eaten anything the entire day. So i had some veggies, boiled bulgar. Then an hour later I had small pieces of bread with some PB.

Sooooooo.....I FINALLY started c25k. I wanted to start from Fri, but i couldn't get up on time, then I said I'll start today morning, and that didn't happen coz I woke up at 11am. I was at home today, and feeling totally sick and blah, so I came to the forum, visited some of the C25k runner's diaries (which totally motivated me, thank you nightrunner, antyoch!!), I got into my track pants and t-shirt, tied my running shoes and set out.

It was the MOST AMAZING 22 minutes. I love Ullery's podcasts. One minute passed by so quickly, so the last few intervals of runs I did about 2 mins instead of one. Now I feel like I have achieved something. Running would go perfectly with my dance class. I will dance on Sundays Tuesdays and Thursdays and run on Monday, Wed and Fri. This should give me enough exercise. I need to keep coming back to the forum for motivation, though. I am really good at flaking if I know I am not accountable.

Not weighing myself this week. I'm gonna wait until next week. I have had terrible few days re: food, just don't wanna be disappointed.

Im off to have some dinner now- steamed corn with garlic and olive oil and some yogurt. Yum!

CONGRATZ JUNI!!!! You must be so proud you started running!! You should feel accomplished! you did it girl!!

Dont worry about the weekend of not so great food, you showed reasonable choices by eating the salad for dinner and not having dessert. You can't completely deprive yourself of great tasting food! But you didn't binge and get completely out of control, as long as you get back on the boat you're okay :D

Your dinner sounds so yummy!!! mmm! I want corn now :D

Enjoy your weekend and good luck with running :D You can do it!

Hey Juni,
THe wedding sounds lovely, sounds like you didn't go too badly on the food either. Was there dancing at the wedding? You prob burned some cals that way too.

I've always hated jogging, but this time I'm really enjoying it. Make sure you do some stretches though so your legs don't get too sore.

I've been overeating the last couple of days as well. Trying to just get back into the healthy stuff today. I don't think I'll weigh either until I've had a few 'good' days.

Have a nice Sunday

Ana

Hi Anna,

There was lots of dancing. I was dancing in my sari and high-heels. Probably look totally uncoordinated, but the lights were kinda low and no body cared. So yes, I did burn some calories.

I have only done the first day, but I feel really good. Some very slight muscle pain on the abdomen area but that could be for a number of reasons. You are right about stretching- i just used the stretching techniques my yoga teacher used to do a few weeks ago but I know I didn't stretch enough. I am going to spend at least 10 mins stretching before I head out to run from tomorrow. What kind of stretches do you do?

I just came back from my dance class. It is getting harder and harder. It is challenging, and I love challenges. I was sweating like a pig :piggy:(its prolly a good thing). So yay!

I am really gonna watch what I eat this week. I am going to be really really good so that I enjoy my 'free' day. I have had too many free days the past week. I just want to have one, and enjoy that one day to the fullest.

I am off to get some work done at the office. Talk to you all later in the evening today.

Yeaaaah!! You started c25k!! this is awesome, and you’re right we will finish around the same time so we can set new goals together!! Woot wooooot!

After a run to be honest I'm too wiped to do any stretches-bad I know :S but before I run I stretch the muscles that run along the bottom of my feet (fascia) and my calves by pushing against a wall with one foot behind me and the other foot propped against the wall-don’t know if that makes sense or if you can visualize it…

Here is to a week of healthy eating! Ooooh and way to go for passing on the dessert at the wedding!!! Helloooo progressss!!

Its always more rewarding to have a free day when you've been good all week! I'm sure you can do it :D Its good that you guys are starting fairly close together :D Good luck to both of you!!

And I'm the opposite of nightrunner, after a run, i just wanna flop down on the mats at the gym and stretch and relax, lay there for a bit :p lol! I just do the stretches I learned from school, nothing out of the ordinary, i'm sure most people know them already :p I'm glad you're enjoying the dance!! It feels so rewarding when you can feel a bit of soreness after :D

Keep it up!! You've come a long way and you should be so proud of yourself! Lets make this another stellar week :D

Hi hi hi!!

How's everyone. It has been a crazy week, and I haven't had the time to come online so much- too much work. :ack2::ack2:

Been going to the dance class (in fact just came back from one), did W1D2 of c25k yesterday, now day 3 tomorrow. I am feeling great.

I was telling myself I am not going to go on scales and I did last night (after eating dinner- yikes!) and what I saw made me very very depressed. Juni two months ago would've gone to the the kitchen and started binging, but Juni last night just looked at the scales, was sad for a bit, and decided not to obsess over it. Juni went to her room, turned on her laptop and worked. [Is it totally weird that I am talking of myself in third person? ok, i'll stop freaking myself and other people out now]:sifone: It wasn't until this morning that I thought about what I had seen in the scales, but I was in a rush to get to the dance class. Now when I think about it, it makes me unhappy, but I am not going to go on a binge fest. I am going to pick myself up, dust myself off and go about my day, look forward to day three of c25k, amazing day of work etc etc.

'cept for Sunday lunch (i had a perfectly healthy lunch of boiled bulgar, veggies and some lentil soup), but an hour later I was so hungry I had cheese, tuna sandwich with mayo. And the sandwich wasn't small. But I had a really light dinner, so I guess it was ok.

Yesterday was really good. I had lot of yogurt, muesli, a small sandwich for snack, boiled bulgar with veggies and lentil soup for lunch, some crackers for snack and a chappati with some veggies at night.

Today, I am going to be really good again.

Hope everyone is well. I promise to be more regular after 20 sept (huuuuuge deadline on that day).

Feeling kinda blah today.

Food was good, though.

B'fast- yogurt, mango, muesli

Snack- cucumbers

lunch- boiled bulgar, veggies, lentil soup

snck- cheddar cheese and a piece of multi-grain bread

dinner- two apples (wasn't hungry- what's going on?)

snack- small piece of bread with PB

at around 9.30 i had a piece of chocolate

dance was amazing. It is hard, and I was sweating (don't sweat like that when i am running, i wonder why?) a lot. my stomach muscles are hurting which makes me really happy. Hee...

also got in about 40 minutes of brisk walking

i am just exhausted these days (get home around 8pm from work- sometimes later) and all I want to do is change, take a quick shower, brush my teeth and crawl into bed. Been a stressball lately, makes me cranky and nervous. My life will become a little bit better after 20 sept.

looking forward to day three of c25k tomorrow.

i apologize for not being so regular lately. i will be better after 20 sept. i promise.

how is everyone doing?

ps: signed up for korrie's halloween challenge. anyone else signed up for it?
