A brand new start

I am so excited! Yesterday I became a memeber of sparkpeople.com and I am using it today. It is free and it gave me an exercise plan and a food plan/calorie counter. I'm taking a break from doing the exercises with my kids!
I'll have to post later.

Good morning Totallyscrappy! I joined sparkpeople too! Can't really use their exercise plan right now, but I like putting in my foods and it keeping track of all the calories and everything. I have had to enter a few foods on it already though because it didn't have that one listed.

Hey ya Scrappy :D what fun with the holiday! They must have loved that! :D Have a great evenin' and keep up that awesome work :D

Thanks, guys.
St. Patrick's Day was fun. Late in the afternoon David (4) came up to me and said, "Mom. I like your ideas. I don't like that the leprechans peed in our toilet!" LOL
(Of course this is the same kid that was eating a slice of chocolate cake with a group of kids after church this morning and matter-of-factly said, "I've got to go to the bathroom. I'll wash my hands first so that I don't get chocolate on my penis." Ahahahahahahaha. Gotta love the pastor's kids!)
And did I mention how the rest of the St. Paddy's day went? David threw a 2 hour (count them... 120 minutes) tantrum in the bathroom because I said that he would have to change his clothes after wetting himself.
A bit after his tantrum was over I went into my bathroom only to come out to discover the 2 year old in the boys' bathroom. Sam had emptied the litter box (it was cleaned out, but full of litter when he started) all over the bathroom, but mainly into the toilet and all over the little lion throw rug. Then he had sloshed the toilet water making wonderful "mud/litter" puddles all over the place. I looked at him and he wouldn't look at me and then he said, "David did it." I just said, "He did not and you need to go to your room now." (If he had said "Leprechans did it!" THAT would have been funny...)
Of course, there was litter all over his shoes and that just dirtied up other rooms (Friday is my cleaning day.). I thought I was going to scream, but I got my camera and took a picture. (I told DH that I will put the picture in the drawer with my birth control pills...)
Wow, what a mess clumping litter can make! When I went outside to shake out the rug the wind caught it and I got litter on me and that is when I lost it. I started to cry. We were supposed to go out to dinner and I told DH that I just wanted to stay home. We ate McDonald's take out and I made Shamrock shakes (green, mint milkshakes).
Phew. I feel better just typing that!
Sparkpeople is doing well. I've eaten a bit more than 1300 calories and I am doing well on the water. Hypo, I had to enter a lot of stuff too, but I'm guessing that I won't have to do that so much as I get used to it.
Gonna go catching up in your diaries!

Oh my! You had a long day didn't you. At least that is over. When they get older, you will have lots of stories to tell! Lol! :D I think sparkpeople is going to be great. At least it saves the food for you so that you don't have to keep entering all the calories and everything each time.

Well I May Need To Check Out This Sparklepeople And I Hope Your Having A Great Day Girlfriend! Its Magic Monday So Lets Rock Them Scales!

Scrappy, I have a little "clumping cat litter" story for ya :D Sure to make ya grin ( I do - NOW! LOL)

When the boys were two I had left their father and moved into this tiny little apartmet.. I bought anything on sale ( that I used) in LARGE quantities to save as much as I could in the long run. Well, one saturday morning I was "sleeping in " until around 7 - when I woke up, I realized it was REALLY quiet. TOO quiet since I KNEW those little terds were up every morning by 6 or so. I snuck into their bedroom (literally, around the corner from mine) and peeked in.... THEY WERE PLAYING MUD PIES ON THEIR CARPET with (count 'em) 3 - 5# containers of clumping cat litter and 4 - 1 gallon jugs of APPLE JUICE!!!! Oh! I was so mad I called my mother and told her to come get them for the day before I just gave up and locked them in their room to "play"!! I started BAWLING like a little baby as I was scrubbing the muck off the carpet  When we moved out 2 years later, that stain was STILL there! LOL

I can laugh like the dickens NOW, but oh, I was not laughin' THEN! LOL :D

Hope today has gone better for you and tomorrow goes even better than today:D Keep up the great work :D

Ooh, BizeB, thanks for putting that into perspective! I only had one litter box full of litter an NO apple juice! LOL! Stinkers, aren't they? I always say that there is a reason why God makes them cute. It is so that you don't kill them! Well, at least I have a story to tell his future wife.
RNW, Have you checked out Sparkpeople? I'm liking it, but I am finding the whole calorie counting stuff to be too much work. I don't mind keep track of what I eat and I don't mind measuring my food (okay I really do mind measuring out my food since I would rather eat a vat of chips than a measly 13 chipd, but you know what I mean...), but the process of looking each item up, etc is a bit much. That and I've been doing really well for 4 days now and the scale has not budged!
How are you finding it Hypo?
Thanks for stopping by!

What do ya think of this? This is a quote from the Weight Watcher's website:
"Watch table talk. "I did some research with eight to 12-year-old children and found the major reason they liked going to McDonald's or other fast food joints was not the food, but because their mother was in a good mood because she didn't have to cook," says Rosemary Stanton, a nutritionist based in Australia. The fact that the family sat around, talked and were nice to each other because they were in public also scored high."

I'm stunned! But I so see myself in the part about being in a good mood because I don't have to cook! We eat at home at the dinner table most nights. (Eating out is simply too expensive.) My 5 year old loves to eat out and now I wonder why. Am I that much of a grump by the time I get all three wiggly ones to the table? Egads! Mental note: Check the dinner table atmosphere.

Mornin' Scrappy :D Ya know, I thing that WW thing is right... I mean, now that I think about it, dinner here is usually pretty rushed and they all watch tv - we don't really talk to each other much during dinner... Gotta see about remedying that..

Hope you have a great wednesday :D Keep up the good work :D

GOod morning pretty lady!

See, I do'nt know about the WW thing. I have to be the one to disagree, lol. BUT I think the fun w/ going out, also isnt' the food, but I think its the different environment. I mean,if you eat everyday at home, to change that up and eat at a restuarunt is fun b/c of the change of senary. U know? Thats just my 2 cents though!

ps..i want to like sparkpeople, lol, but I do find the looking up cals and such to be a pain. AND their forum is SOOO big, its just too hard to get to know anyone, or remember where you posted, lol.

Hey girl! I know what you mean about sparkpeople. I don't even think I finished entering everything yesterday. I am not that into the whole keeping track of calories. I mean, I read labels for calories and fat and don't eat stuff that is too high (for the most part ;) ).

Hope you have a great day! :D

I Didnt Do Sparkle People I Am Here At Ww Boot Camp And It Is All I Can Do To Keep Up Lmao But I Am Glad Things Are Working For You Ts And I Know You Can Do This And The More You Learn And Research The More It Will Help!

Thanks for chiming in on the kids eating out thing. My 5 year old says he likes eating out because he gets to eat what he wants. I told him about the WW thing and he said, "Well that is another one [reason]."

Hey Totallyscrappy!

Hahaha, so the chocolate penis almost made me pee my pants, that was so funny. Kids are so funny. But then the cat litter all over the floor made me glad I don't have kids. My cat is a child enough and he's not the best butt-shaker, or whatever cats do, because he sometimes brings some of the litter out of the box with him. Kids, cats, men...they're all the same, really.

So, I responded to you in my diary, but I'll do it here too, because you get more traffic than I do, because frankly you're far more interesting--I've never heard of sparkpeople, but I learned how to do my calories by spending a few weeks on a calorie counter website (like Calorielab.com) and after awhile I came to be able to estimate what was what. For example, on whole foods, like apples (70), oranges (80), and bananas (110), I just began to retain that info. Then, on most other stuff I eat I'd just check the package and serving size--cup of fat free Jello pudding is 100, granola bar is 120, ect. It's all there for you. Once you do it for awhile you'll be able to be a really good estimator.

And my French Onion Soup recipe is in the recipes section!

GOOD MORNING SCRAPPY!!!! How are you today hun?? Your kids sound sooo cute! What a blessing kids can be huh?? lol

Hope you do great today! Keep up the good work!!

Okie dokie... the scale finally moved! Yippee! 3 pounds! How is that! I am so proud of myself.
When I got to thinking that Sparkpeople was going to be too much I started to think that maybe I should just give it all up, but you all are so encouraging and patient and I think I can stick to it! (And actually losing a bit of weight HELPS the mood, eh?) I know it will be a long haul from 185 downward, but I CAN DO IT! My goal is to be at 158 by July 1.
Thanks for being my cheering section!
