A brand new start

On, walking. I just got done with my two mile walk dvd and my four year old was so sweet to do it with me. I thought for sure that he would get bored with it after about 5 minutes, but no, he did the cool-down with me!

Last night I did the walk dvd while talking to DH. Usually I make DH leave the room when I exercise, but we hadn't had a chance to talk yet, so I walked, kicked, and knee lifted while we blabbed. And does my butt hurt today! I really got into it because I knew he was watching and I certainly was not going to do a wimpy workout with a witness!

Food

mini cinnamnon bagel with (reduced fat) cream cheese
water

Special K bar (strawberry)
water

toasted, open-faced ham and swiss sandwich with tomato and mustard
15 ritz cheddar cracker-chips
half an orange
diet cherry coke

Exercise
2 miles with my walking buddy, Aaron :)

Tonight hubby and I have a date at home. I'm feeding the kids and putting them to bed. Then DH and I will order a pizza and eat it while watching tv. I love eating pizza infront of the tv occasionally. And we NEVER eat anywhere but the dining room table because of all our little people, so this is a treat. Wonder what movie we'll watch.

Gotta go, only another hour before the kids wake up from nap.

Sounds like it's going to be a fun night for you. I love reading your postings they bring a smile to my face. Keep up the great work!!!

Have a lovely evening...how bout after the pizza, light some scented candles, put on some romantic music and ask your man for a dance. Nothing more romantic than a couple slow dancing, just because they love each other.

Thanks, ladies! We just finished the pizza. It was awesome. I'm a huge meatball fan and we got a pizza with meatballs, mushrooms, and onions. So many onions, in fact, that we are now obligated to get romantic... because no one else will even speak to us and our breath! DH is in changing out of his work clothes ("Are you 'slipping into something sexy'?" I asked him as he left the room :p ) and we're setting up the James Bond movie. (Now, there is a sexy man...)
Anyway, why am I typing now? Because I wanted to finish my food listings for the day, that's why!

Food
string cheese and 4 chocolate kisses (really having a craving today)
water

3 spoons of macaroni and cheese swallowed while making kids' dinner
water

2 slices of mushroom, meatball, and onion pizza from Giovanni's
ceaser salad
diet cherry coke
water

wine???
wink, wink, nudge, nudge

If only that were the case! I haven't been online all day because DH has hogged the computer doing tax junk! And as for last night... We wound up eating our pizza, turning on Gilligan's Island reruns (because we knew it was too late for a movie) and falling asleep on the couch!! I woke up at 6:45 this morning with our legs all tangled. Maybe next time... Ah, where has all the romance gone?

I took the boys for haircuts today. Oh, my. As she was cutting and cutting and cutting... they look so cute and "sharp" now. :) I never realized how much they needed the cut until after the new cut. How is it that something so simple, like getting a hair cut, can be put off and put off until the kids are looking like shaggy dogs?! Really. It doesn't take a great deal of money or time to get the haircut, but it just gets put off until they look like the "Before" pic in a makeover magazine.

Anyway, they do look good. Aaron's hair is really short and he can gel the front for a little "flip," which he likes. David's cut is seriously short and his cowlicks give him a certain endearing look. Sam's hair was left a little longer because he has that baby white hair and if it is cut too short he looks bald. Now, if only I could find a hairstyle.

Food
cottage cheese doubles (strawberry)
sip of water

Special K bar (blueberry) (I barely tasted the thing. I was so hungry and feeling slightly nauseous that I wolfed it down.)
sip of water

3 bites of the last of the "gooey macaroni" that I made the boys yesterday
1 slice of pizza (leftover)
cup of strawberries
diet cherry coke

chocolate candy eaten at preschool planning committee (I then stuck a stick of gum in my mouth...)
water

hamburger with cheese slice (eaten without the bun)
15 barbeque chips (found these very salty...taste buds changing?)
fresh green beans
100 cal pack (oreo)
water

water, water, water. I didn't drink much until after dinner really. I know that tomorrow is weigh in and I know that I need to really hydrate myself. Guzzle, guzzle, guzzle.

Exercise
2 mile walk

I was eyeing a particular bouquet at the grocery store this morning. Fingers crossed. If I've lost 2 more pounds I will go back and buy them.

Fingers crossed (and water guzzled)

Sleeping on the couch together is sooooo romantic...too lovers sharing their lives, raising children, working hard, and trying to find a moment,...and though their true to committment to one another and family..they still have the desire to just be with be alone together to hang out, in each others presence,...this is what true love is.

Well, trust me, there are no hopeless romantics left at our house! We're all too tired and busy to be hopelessly anything!! LOL

DH and I spent the day at a seminar with Dr. Paul Maier, "History, Archaeloloy, and Christianity." The kids were at the child care all day and we were at the seminar- kinda like a date, but a lot less romantic. ;) All kidding aside, the seminar was very good, actually.

My dad was coming for dinner, so after the seminar we drove to a grocery store to get a few things. DH and the kids stayed in the van while I ran in for the few things. I'd never been in this grocery store and it took me awhile to find all the things I needed. While I was walking and backtracking I noticed something. No wonder America is fat. The only thing they sell in the stores is food you shouldn't eat!!! Every end-cap and aisle divider held a display of cookies, sugary cereals, sodas or junk food. In order to get to the healthier, fresh things I had to pass all of my demons. There were rows of Valentine's chocolates, Little Debbie snack cakes, Enteman's cakes and Oreo cookies. And that wasn't even at the check out! At the checkout sat the 3 for $1 chocolate bars and snacks for your purse. It is almost as if getting to the car with JUST your healthy food ought to earn a prize! I think I almost had the shakes while waiting in line. The grocery stores are "stacked against us!!!"

When I got in the van I told DH about the landmines in the grocery store. He told me that a few weeks back when I took the kids to visit my brother he went to the store and bought himself a stash of all the foods that are "contraband" (cookies, chips, etc.). He said he didn't want to ask me to pick them up because it wouldn't be fair to me. Now, that is romantic. :)

Food

Special K breakfast bar (blueberry)
water

chick-fil-a sandwich (this was the lunch at the seminar. I love Chick-fil-a sandwiches, so this was a great treat, but I know they are not the skinniest lunch ever, so I tried to toss some of the bread.)
cole slaw
1/2 bag of potato chips
caffiene free, diet pepsi
water

100 cal pack (Oreo)
strawberry, three grapes
1 % milk

spaghetti and meatballs and a sausage (very good, if I do say so myself, but the jarred sauce was a little salty. I think my taste buds are changing.)
cherry sherbet
water

Basically, a rotten day's worth of food, but probably not as sinful as it felt.

No exercise for today.

I really should be scooting along to bed. Dad spent the night and we've got church tomorrow followed by a lunch date.
Ciao,

lol lol lol...oh you made me laugh girl!!!!!!! Your right that was very romantic ...your night in shining armour protecting you from the evils of the sugar, high fat low nutrient evils...who says chivalry is dead!!!!!!!

i love your sence of humor scrappy!! Do you know store have a phycological reasoning for the way they set up? If you don't like the jarred sauce, try switching to the canned, its half the calories!

Hey Scrappy, it sounds like you're doing pretty good to me-you're giving yourself treats, yeah, but it sounds like the treats here and there are keeping you satisfied. Lately I've been feeling deprived and wanting to give up, and I know if I allow myself a treat here and there I'll feel better about it. Oh, and you should try making your own sauce, it's much much better than canned or jarred. My family is mostly Italian, so I always had homemade sauce and I'm spoiled. But really, if you check out like, food.com you could probably find a simple recipe and then you just let it simmer all day. The longer it simmers, the better it tastes.

Hey Gals! Thanks for all the comments! I may just try making my own sauce or switching to the canned ones (thought about doing that because the canned ones are usually cheaper). The thought of a big pot of sauce simmering all day... yummmmmm.

Today was practically a blur! We had church this morning. There was a ground breaking ceremony for the new nursing home they are building. And I have to say that the best part was my dad was with me. He says all these things "under his breath," but you can hear him a mile away!

For instance, during the service the whole congregation left to walk all the way over to the site. There were bell ringers and banner carriers, etc. (DH carried the cross.) Well, the banner carriers couldn't really see and at one point they kinda bumped into each other. So, Dad says, "Looks like a 5 banner pile-up!" Coulda peed my pants!

It took us a while to get out of the church because the church is so big and crowded when he says (ever so quietly), "I know how to clear this place out. Just yell, 'Fire!'" Dad definetly makes life more intersting!

Anyway, after lunch we were invited out to brunch with all sorts of other "church people." I love going out to eat, but I'm always a tad aprehensive doing so with three little guys, especially when most of the people there were just adults. But the kids were fine. And since it was a buffet they got to eat almost right away, so there was much less time to misbehave. And of course, two mimosas put me in a good mood, anyway! ;)

I love breakfast food! I love going to "brunch," but I do hate paying for "brunch." I'm not one of those people who way overeats at one meal- I refuse to be uncomfortable. So, I always do feel like I didn't "get my money's worth. But, hey, I got what I wanted and I was content.

I also have to mention that it is hard to remember what I ate because it was a buffet. I went through the line with two plates- one for all three boys and one for me. Then when I got to the table I gave them each a plate and served them from the two plates. And they always want something that is on the plate I think is "mine." Plus, when Sam is done eating, always before me, I usually give him more food from my plate rather than going back to the buffet line.

By the time we came home and gave the kids a nap (took half of a nap myself!) it was time to cook dinner. And then it was straight downhill to bed, if you know what I mean!

Food

2 Nilla wafers eaten while dropping Sam off at the church nursery because I was absolutely starved... out the door before I could eat. I really do have to put some breakfast bars in the car!

cup of cocoa
1 pettit four eaten at the reception after the groundbreaking (and I love pettit fours! Could've had lots more... in my old life, that is. )

veggie and cheese omlete
a few potatoes
bacon
1/5 chicken parmigana
caribbean veggies (carrots, broccolli, and other veggies with this delicious, peppery sauce that wasn't too "saucy.")
two bites of chocolate cake
2 mimosas (big smiley face here! :D )

strawberries and grapes
water

bowl of broccolli and cheese soup
1/4 ham and provolone sandwich
1 thin slice summer sausage
diet coke with lime

water

Exercise

1 mile walk

Well, tomorrow is a work day and I have got to get a move on! I still have the dishwasher to run, laundry to fold (or at least pick through so I can find stuff for all of us to wear), body to shower, lessons to fine-tune...

Forgot to say... I've lost 1.5 pounds this week. I was so close to the 5 pound loss mark that I was slightly disappointed, but I'm keeping my eyes on the "positive." I have lost 14.5 pounds since December 26th. A healthy weight loss that I'm more likely to keep off.

I can't believe that I'm doing it!!!

Daisies next week!

WOW 14.5 lbs, that's so wonderful!!! 1.5 lbs may not be the goal weightloss but it is a weightloss regardless. Keep up the excellent work. I foresee Daisies in your future!!!

Congrats on the weight loss.....you are doing a simply wonderful job!!! We enjoy so much of what you share of yourself and your family with us.

Thanks, Ladies for the encouragement. I had a rough night and it was a relief to see your messages waiting for me. It is just hard to work (and I only work 2 days a week!) and be a mom and be a wife and be a housekeeper and be a person! Way too many plates to keep spinning. I wasn't feeling sorry for myself, just rushed and spinning! Too many things to do, so little time.
Anyway, I really found myself wanting to feed away the chaos. And when that feeling hits it is "comfort food" that I want. (Carb away my friends!) Anyway, it was hard to satisfy that craving and mouth feel, because you know that a mouth full of celery ain't doin' it! I didn't do that great of a job and I wound up eating too many marshmallows before dinner and then I ate a cookie after dinner. I know I shouldn't have eaten the junk, but I'm not going to knock myself out over it. As the saying goes, it coulda been worse.

Food

marble cheese
3 cheese nips
3 bites of oatmeal, I mean "porridge." (My preschool students are doing a unit on the 3 little bears.)

special K breakfast bar (blueberry)

slice of pizza (meatballs, onions, mushrooms)
grapefruit
diet cherry coke
(odd lunch, eh?)

(Barely drank any water while the students were in my room. I'll have to focus on gettin more water into myself. Because it sure is hard to drink all 8 glasses after 2!)

7 marsmallows
water

1 cup of tortellini (or "bellybuttons," as we call them at our house.)
3 meatballs and sauce. (I bought the canned sauce and found it to be less calories and a lot less salt.)
chocolate chip cookie
water

Exercise
1 mile walk
(It was too cold for an outdoor walk. Or rather, it was too cold for the kids to be on the playground for 45 minutes while Kim and I walked!)

Off to the showers and then an early bedtime!

Ugh, what an exhausting day! I was so tired at the end of the day that I drove through the drive thru at McDonald's. Too tired to move, but I will...

water

5 ritz whole wheat crackers
special k breakfast bar (blueberry)
water

cheesy broccolli soup
sugar free chocolate pudding
diet cherry coke

water
bite of a brownie

McDonald's crispy bacon ranch salad
1 % milk

I think I'm going to have a glass of wine once the kids go to bed. Oh, yea, I think I'll be doing my walk after they go to bed, too. Off I go...

Is it eight o'clock yet???
