Good morning!
I love Fridays. Kind of a relaxed day. DH is off from work and only Aaron has school. (He was so excited to go to his Pajama Party. They had all sorts of fun things planned, like a blanket cave that they can go in and try out their flashlights. Plus, the kids all looked so cute wearing their jammies.) We're going to get the boys' haircuts this morning and I've got to pack us up to go visit my brother and his family. My SIL and I are planning a pajama party of our own tonight that includes scrapbooking. Then tomorrow we'll visit some friends on our way home.

Food

3/4 cup corn chex
5 slices of banana
milk
water

Hmmm, if I get my walking done this morning I'll be sure to do it; it probably won't happen at my brother's house.

Off to walk...

Thanks, Jennifer. I am feeling better. :)

Food
muffin bar
water

taco salad
(lettuce, tomato, taco meat, cheddar, white cheddar dressing and salsa, 13 chips)
1 rolo (I really do like a small piece of chocolate after eating spicy food, and one rolo was just enough to do the trick. Didn't need a handfull or enough to make a little "foil ball.")
1 goldfish cracker (just couldn't resist one)
diet coke with lime
water

Exercise
Did the 2 mile walk from the new dvd. I certainly broke a sweat! Hit the showers after.

I'm on my way out of town. SIL said something about ham and scalloped potatoes for dinner. I'll just have to resist any leftover Christmas goodies at their house! (...especially while we are scrapbooking!)

Had a fun time visiting. The kids went to bed at a decent hour, but took forever to fall asleep and are very tired now. Paula and I cropped until the wee hours of the morning (so I'm tired now, too). I got four pages done. ("The Reality of Being a Mom," "Dentist," "Happy Birthday, David-" a two page spread.) Pretty happy with the way they turned out.

I managed to avoid overeating at her house, which was a good thing. Even cropping I only had one Dorito. It was guacomole flavor and I've never tried them before. Not bad, but I did eat just one. Almost went overboard when she put two waffles (the best homemade waffles) on my plate for breakfast, but I was okay! (Did I mention that they were hot from the waffle iron?... Hard to resist, but I ate what I wanted and ditched the rest.)

Today I spent the day with Lynne. Very fun. She gave the boys gobots and these cute animal books for Christmas presents. We went for a bbq lunch which is always my favorite. Usually I would order a sliced bbq beef sandwich with fries and coleslaw and a 1/2 and 1/2 tea. Today I ordered a sandwich and a trip to the salad bar.

I guess the lightbulb moment was... I don't go out to eat much and when I do I always feel like I should have exactly what I want. But today I ordered what was the better choice for my body. And I didn't feel deprived. I didn't look at everyone else eating whatever they had while thinking to myself, "I would have rather had..."

Food

Yesterday's dinner

ham
scalloped potatoes
broccolli and cauliflower
diet coke with lime

copious amounts of diet coke with lime while cropping (I was flattered that she bought it for me. It's always nice when someone remembers something just for you, because they know you like it.) :)
one dorito

Today's food

1 1/2 Mickey Mouse waffles with a small amount of butter and syrup.
cup of Bernie's White Christmas coffe with half and half and a little sugar (not a coffee drinker, but I really liked the smell... coconut, caramel...)
diet coke with lime

bbq beef sandwich (1/2 bun)
salad with lettuce, eggs, chic peas, cheese, tomatoes, pickles, 3 black olives, french dressing...)
1/2 and 1/2 tea (1/2 sweet and 1/2 regular iced tea)

water
diet pepsi

deli ham
marble cheese
20 thin potato chips (salt and vinegar)
celery and peanut butter
water
the last Reese's peanut butter cup/tree. My absolute favorite! I'd hidden the last one two weeks ago and I savored it this evening.

We've got some dvd's for this evening...

p.s. I couldn't weigh in since I was away. I am so tempted to go step on the scale here right now, but I'm afraid I will be disappointed since it is not the same time of day, ect. as my weigh in ritual. Sooo, I will have to wait till tomorrow.

Ah, Sunday. Always so busy. :)
Running fifteen minutes late makes your whole day "off" doesn't it? I got the boys to Sunday School about 20 minutes late and I feel like I've spent all day trying to "catch up." The Ladies Tea took up most of the day and the evening flew by once we had dinner. Here it is almost 10 and I still have phone calls to make and then some lesson planning. So, I'd better be running along.

Food

no breakfast...bad, bad, bad

taco salad
1 square of cheese danish dessert that I made for the tea, but didn't turn out "pretty enough" to serve. I took the orange cranberry bread.
water
diet coke with lime

two cups of Irish breakfast tea with packet of sugar in each
1/2 lemon square
1 inch shortbread square
mini vanilla muffin
(kinda proud of myself... it was a dieter's nightmare... tray and tray of yummy treats. But, I told myself that I would have just three and that it was happened!)

penne with meat sauce
casa salad
diet pepsi
water
1 square of cheese danish treat

Exercise

No exercise today, but I have a walking buddy planned for tomororw and Tuesday.

And, Newbride, if you're still reading...I feel the need for a drumroll! I've lost another 5 pounds!!!!!! That brings me to a total weight loss of 12 pounds thus far. Boy, I know you loose water weight in the beginning... I must have been one watery girl!

Pretty happy with myself,
Totallyscrappy

Drink more water...

Wow that is so awesome....12 pounds you lil mermaid you...I dont care if they say is mostly water in the begin...12 pounds less is 12 pounds less....YOU GO GIRL!!!!!

Oh, Thank you, ladies! What a treat it is to have my own cheering section! You bet I am doing a happy dance. And you are right, Jennifer, 12 pounds is 12 pounds- whether it is water or whatever else!

I have to say that success breeds success! Having lost 12 pounds makes me reconsider any "cheating." Nothing I eat is going to feel as good as I do about these 12 pounds.

Food

Muffin bar
water

ham, lettuce, provolone sandwich
grapes
diet coke with lime

small danish square
water

water

big (okay, huge) bowl of homemade turkey noodle soup (carrots, celery, onion, peas, noodles, turkey). It looked like something off the cover of a magazine! I was pretty proud of myself. I've never made a homemade soup using a leftover turkey.)
10 chicken in a basket crackers
water

Exercise

walked the school track with Kim

I am soo tired today that I think I will call it an evening and go to bed right after I get out of the shower.

What a long day! My students were bonkers today! It was like being trapped inside a pinball machine! Boing, boing! On Tuesdays it is hard to stay until 4 becuase I don't have school to plan for tomorrow. And since we didn't do the team meating yet, it is hard to plan for next week. So I kinda sit around in my room doing piddly stuff. Oh, well. I did get paperwork done and letters ready for a bulletin board.

I have found it hard to resist temptation today. It seems that I really am thinking about food today. And I'm not thinking about carrot sticks, either! It seems that whenever I have a free moment my head fills with a thought about food or dessert or what I'd like to eat. I think it is because I'd like to calm myself. Today was very hectic. And it was hectic at home with the boys and now I'm alone and I know I'd like to turn to the calming effect of a Little Debbie Snack Cake (whew! I don't have any of those in the house!) or a scoop of ice cream. I feel like some kind of drug addict who keeps thinking about "the drug." I did get out a chocolate kiss and I put it next to my water bottle and I told myself that if I drank the water I could have the kiss. Well, the bottle is empty and the kiss is still wrapped. I know that writing in here helps me "work through the pain."

Food

1 toast with thin layer of peanut butter
water

5 ritz crackers and homemade butter (we were working on the letter B...)

special k breakfast bar
water

2 cups of homemade turkey noodle soup
1 pouch of Oreo baked crackers (the 100 calorie bags)
diet pepsi

applesauce
1 rolo
water

minestrone soup
1 square of cornbread
part of a candy cane eaten mindlessly while talking to friend and unwrapping bits for Sam to eat. (Can't afford to eat "mindlessly...")
water with lemon

13 tortilla chips and cheese
water

Exercise
walked the track after school

I'm heading off to give DH a call. I wonder how his conference is going...
Totallyscrappy

Aw, here I am at the computer and oh, what did I eat today? Oh, yea...

Food

1/2 tortilla with cheddar and way too much salsa (mouth on fire)
water
3 m&m's eaten to put out salsa fire (rationalize...rationalize...rationalize)

lots of water drank during bible class

cup of turkey noodle soup
couple of cheese cubes
cottage cheese and preserves ($1 for each of these... bought four, but I'm worth it!)
diet cherry coke

3 finger swipes of macaroni and cheese sauce
2 big spoonfuls of macaroni and cheese (had to check the seasoning!!!)
5 frozen peas
(consumed while making macaroni and cheese and a turkey pot pie to take to
a church member who broke her arm)

1 bowl of beef stew (didn't care for the meat)
salad with Italian dressing
3 strawberries and a few grapes
2 sqaures of cornbread (I went and got the second piece to eat for "dessert" because the cornbread was so soft and yummy. Usually cornbread is crumbly. This was very dessert-ish.)
diet coke with lime

water

Exercise

2 mile walk

I bought myself a bouqet of purple tulips today. I'm liking the idea of buying flowers for every 5 pounds.

Look at the time...
Totallyscrappy

Flowers in winter are indeed lovely, or any time of year...nice way to treat yourself ...and you certainly deserve it.

what a wonderful idea scrappy! I"m going to have to do that! You wanna know my secret to totally treat myself?? I buy a boquet of flowers (ones that are going to die soon and are on sale) and I run a nice bubble bath and pull the pedals off the flowers and sprinkle them ontop of the bubbles. The visual is such a treat!

Thanks, Ladies. And, Newbride, I may have to try the petals in the tub. Sounds very nice, even romantic.
I was trying to think of a way to reward myself for losing weight. I know I can't reward myself with food, so what do I do? I thought about some different stuff like nail polish, scrapbooking supplies, etc., but I would buy those things if I wanted them (within reason, of course). But I'm always asking DH to buy me flowers and it just doesn't happen. (I think he has this "man mentality" that he has to "surprise" me with the flowers and if I ask they aren't going to happen. Of course, if I wait they will be a Valentine's Day and Anniversary item.) So, I figured that flowers are something I like that I would never buy "just because." And I bought these bouquets (pink carnations for the first 5 pounds and purple tulips for the second 5 pounds) at WalMart for less than $5 each. To be honest, they are about the price of a bag of wrapped chocolates and a lot less fattening!

And a bonus... just looking at the flowers reminds me how hard I've worked!

Working hard,
Totallyscrappy

Ah, Rosered, you made me smile. I'm glad you remembered because I'm sure they "loose something in the translation."

Worked hard today cleaning the house. I undecorated the Christmas tree and cleaned up. It is difficult to put all the boys' new stuff away because there just isn't a place to stick most of it. A great deal of their toys are a new type of toy that for which we don't already have a box or spot. For instance, the older boys received radio controlled cars and now where do we put them so Sam can't get them? On the dresser they go. A freind gave them gobots, which are great, but we don't already have some, so right now they are lined up at the end of hall. (I should feel safer having such an ominous, powerful team of toys guarding my boys!)
And last week I took all of Sammy's baby toys and put them in a box since he (17 months old) is really too old for rattles and little doodads that hang off the stroller. So, I moved some of the "younger" toys (Little People, chunky trucks, board books that the older boys are too old for...) into his room.
Anyway, to babble on... I think I will go to Target tomorrow and buy some storage boxes. Although, maybe those collapsable boxes might be a better idea since we have to worry about moving everything in 6 months.
And I better get some storage for all their new books too! Maybe a few dishpans would hold them. Or I could really separate out the board books and get a new container for just them. The rest may fit in the bins we already have. Oh, stroage dilemas!! Every new mom should be given stock in Rubbermaid!

Food
ham and provolone on wheat with mustard
1/2 orange pepper strips (so sweet that I didn't need dip)
diet cherry coke
1/4 cup of eggnog icecream

water, water, water
(I've really got to get my water consumption up! Here's my new focus!)
1/2 large orange
handful of seasoned oyster crackers

grilled chicken breasts
veggie stir fry mix
homemade macaroni and cheese (I know, I know... I really did limit my portion and then it was very hard to put the leftovers away- had a few more nibbles- tsk, tsk.)
water
tootsie roll (one of those that is about the size of two or three little paper wrapped ones)

water, water, water

Exercise
all that house cleaning and a 2 mile walk

Off to relax! Maybe watch a few Gilligan's Island episodes. :)
