A brand new start

We did the party

Oh, Newbride, will you take a nap for me??? I'm so tired that I have promised myself to keep this short and to go to bed right after this entry- no surfing.

Rachels, it makes me happy to know that there are other people out there "feeling my pain."

Well, I managed to get my "to-do" list all crossed off and the party was fun. The kids had a blast. The food was good. The company was great.

Food
half a deli turkey wrap with lettuce and cranberry sauce (half because it was gross- tossed the other half)
11 pretzel sticks
1 cube of cheese
1 square of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich
water

half a bbq pork sandwich with extra meat
small serving of coleslaw
small serving of potato salad
small handfull of chips
3 rolos
half a piece of birthday cake with small scoop of ice cream
diet pepsi
margarita

The party food was, well, party food, but I did watch my portions and I really strived to put the food away without eating it or "grazing."

Funny part of the evening... When we played the game to get the gold pieces all the kids were around the gold (rolos) and Sam (16 months) very quietly came and took a piece of "gold" and left the room. I wondered where he was going with it, so I followed him. He went into the kitchen and put the candy inside the cubbard with the pots and pans. I guess he was saving a piece for later. :)

Oh, I must go to bed!!!

Jennifer, Thanks for the sweet comment about my little boys. I'll save that one to remind myself when I think I may be falling over the edge!

I've been up since 5. I took some friends to the airport. On the way home I stopped to buy little bottles of water, diet coke with lime and a birthday card for hubby. I also bought pudding and a pie crust to make the peanut butter pie (won't be low-anything  ). Then I came home and decided to vacuum the cars instead of going back to sleep. (Sleep is what I would have done a week ago, but I've made a committment to myself to keep moving.) Took me about an hour and a half (they really needed it). I was considering taking my heartrate because I was really moving. And I did find 19 cents under the seats! (...and three animal crackers...)

Food
orange juice- I know I shouldn't- awful for the blood sugar, but I love oj and my house guests wanted some.
hard-boiled egg (tried to balance out the oj, but I couldn't eat the yolk, so I really only ate the white.)

I'm ready for my mid-morning snack and what will I have? I really do want a bowl of cereal (or a half a cup or whatever a serving is...)

Now if only I can convince the children to have toasted corn chex instead of happy, smacky flakes!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!
We went over to celebrate with some friends. We had dinner and drinks. And then, since it was Chris' birthday yesterday (even though we had the birthday party for David) we had birthday pie and sang, "Happy Birthday." We wound up leaving before 11 because the boys were way past bedtime, Chris wasn't feeling well (he's getting a cold) and Sam has broken out in hives and his medicine was wearing off.
I was going to watch the show that is on before the ball drops (Dick Clark's New Year's Celebration, not that Dick Clark was even there...), but it was obnoxious so I took off my dressy clothes and put on Richard Simmons. I was done about a quarter to 12, so Chris did wake up and we toasted the New Year together.
Not bad at all. Now, I'm making a quick entry before going to the shower and then bed.

Food

I did wind up having cereal for snack, but a half of a serving. 1/2 cup toasted corn chex and 1/4 cup milk
water

2 licks of whipped cream
1 lick of pudding
1 glob of peanut butter filling
(all eaten while assembling the peanut butter pie.)
diet coke with lime
water

3 peanut butter snails (the kids love these- flattened bread spread with peanut butter and then rolled and sliced into pieces that resemble snails.)

3 froot loops consumed while trying to get Sam to take his medicine

1 slice of french bread, spread with pesto and topped with turkey and melted swiss
1 more bread thingy, but with sundried tomato pesto instead of regular pesto.
(I never thought I'd like pesto. All those fresh herbs are not my thing, but it was really tasty. And before I make pesto a habit, after I eventually found the jar----way too much fat!)
bowl of New Brunswick chicken stew (yummy!)
half a slice of peanut butter pie (drool, drool, drool. And let me just say that the slice was sooo thin I could see the other side... But it was just as tasty, and satisfying, as the doorstop-sized piece I would have consumed just a few days ago.)
and this pineapple upside-down cake drink that was very delicious

I toasted the New Year with a Bahama Mama, but since it was after the stroke of midnight, I won't count it until I type in my breakfast! ;)

Exercise
I sweated to the oldies with my buddy, Richard!

Good night and Happy New Year!

It it fabu-LOSS!

Oh, here it is almost 1 in the morning and I am still riding my weightloss high. Did I mention that I lost 7 pouds?

Thank you, Jennifer and Newbride! I'm feeling good. :)

Gotta be quick... gotta get three small kids ready for church in less than 7 hours...

Food

1/2 large tortilla spread with the last of the leftover bbq pork and shredded cheese
green apple
water, water, water

2.5 pretzel rods

bowl of Casa salad
bowl of Italian soup
thin slice of peanut butter pie
diet pepsi
water

Exercise

After breakfast I took the boys over to the school and Aaron and David played on the "big" playground (not the "preschool" playground) while I did "laps" with Sam in the stroller for 30 minutes. It really worked out well. The boys were happy to play on the climbers and I was free to walk at the quick pace I set for myself. And as long as I only did half circles I didn't have to go around any fences. (So, what my anal self is really saying is that if, at any moment one of the boys was to fall off the equipment, I could make a straight beeline for him rather than having to run back around a fence.)

(After my thirty minutes I did take all three boys to the preschool playground so they all could play for thirty minutes. It was fun watching Sam kick the soccer ball!)

I was so proud of myself for getting my exercise done before lunch (WITH the children in tow) and for losing 7 pounds, that I drove to WalMart and bought myself a bouquet of pink carnations. It is a great incentive to see those flowers. A quick reminder that I am on my way to a weight loss success!

Which reminds me of a quick question: Do you use any "incentives?" Since I can't reward myself with food anymore... then what? A trip to the Bahamas is out of our budget, so any suggestions?

Did I mention that I am 7 pounds lighter?

Ugh!

I can't believe it! I'm sick. Feels like an upper respitory infection. You know the feeling, like someone breathed hot fire into your lungs. Aaron sounds like he has it too.

How can this be? Tomorrow is my first day of teaching?!

The boys and I are playing hookey from church because I feel so cruddy. Which is too bad. I really wanted to hear DH's sermon (he's preaching all 4 services this morning). I knew he really worked hard on this one. (He works hard on all of them...) And this sermon was to be about children. He even showed me the two paragraphs were he will talk about our baby Daniel who died in November at around 13 weeks of development. (And he never gives me a "sneak peak". I think he kinda wanted my "permission" to talk about something so personal.) Oh, well, maybe since I was too sick to go to church he will let me read the whole thing.

Well, I think my cup of tea has steeped nicely.

that is a disgusting way to advertise. Invading someones diary with sh**. I think scrappy has proved that she has the motivation and knowledge and support to loose the weight with out wasting money unnessesarily. Shem said it "If you do the exrcise and get your diet right the results will follow."

Im with you jennylee that is disgusting, the good thing is scrappy you no your doing really well when even someone like this idiot no's you have the determination to loose weight ;)

Thank you, Rosered and Jennylee for sticking up for me! Shem, shame on you and your advertising!!! Yes, I do have the determination it takes!

I just got back from the store. Had to buy some supplies for the classroom and for the kids for the week. How is it we are always out of bread, diapers and wipes?!

I feel sooo lousy. I'm sure I have a fever and I think I'm going to "lay low" this evening. I did buy an exercise dvd at Target (Leslie Sansone's Walk away the Pounds), but I think it will sit unopened until tomorrow. I also bought a measuring tape because I read somewhere that measurements are important, too, since the scale may not be telling "the whole story."

waist 35
bust 42
upper arm 15 (difficult to take by yourself!)
hips 50
upper thigh 36
(Well, that was depressing... But I have the determination!)

Food

1/2 a huge orange
2 pretzel rods
water
tea

cube of cheese
sugar free flavored coffee

...and I have a bowl of wonton soup waiting for me

sniffle, sniffle, cough...
Totallyscrappy

Hi scrappy, sorry your not feeling well!! Make sure you get lots to drink!! Measuring is important, b/c sometimes, when it appears you havn't lost any weight, you can still loose inches and that gives you motivation!!

I don't know if youve noticed, but that shem person is leaving the same info in every post she's left so far

Yep I took my measurements too...however you are braver than I ,,,mine shall remain unpublished  ...hope you are feeling better soon...its been go go go for you all month.....body is saying...sloooooow down!

First day of school

First day of teaching went well! The kids (three year olds) were better than I had expected. And they were quieter than the kindergarten students I've always taught. My hopes for a nice, straight line down the hallway are on hold, however. I'm sure there is more to life than straight lines, right?!

Even getting all five of us out of the house this morning was tolerable. Truly an accomplishment.

I felt better today, even though my cold is "moving" from the burning chest attack to the sinus congestion and nose business.

Food

cranberry and apple breakfast bar
water

cherry yogurt
water

ham, provolone, mustard, lettuce on sandwich wheat
1/2 huge orange
diet coke with lime

24 ritz bitz & peanut butter crackers
water

2 pieces of garlic and herb fish (there was breading, not batter, but I just can't bring myself to eat fish that I can actually see...)
asparagus blend (zucchini, yellow squash, broccolli, cauliflower, carrots and asparagus)
2 hushpuppies (It isn't about denial, right?)
1/4 cup potato salad
milk

water and NOT the peanut butter pie (Is there a smile-y guy with a blindfold and a gag?)

Exercise

I did the one mile walk with my new dvd. Only took about 20 minutes. I will try the two mile walk tomorrow.

I'd journal longer, but I'm off to the showers and a respectable bedtime!

Measurements

I figured you all already know how much I weigh...I can't really scare you much more! :D
Ah, I figured that this journal is really for me, so...
Totallyscrappy!

Food

mini bagel and cream cheese
water

popcorn (kettle corn type)
water

casa salad
wonton soup
diet coke with lime

2 graham cracker cookies
water

pasta and meat sauce
sliver of peanut butter pie
three bites of chocolate birthday cake

Exercise
I am so "done" for today that it is not even 8:00 and I am going to bed! DH stayed home from work because he is still sick with this cold and all three of the boys are in various stages of catching this ugliness. My face is so stuffed up, my nose is constantly running, my cough starts up... UGH!

Off to the showers...

Totallyscrappy

I'm sorry your not well, you need to rest, dont' worry about excersizing till your over your illness!! How's that diet coke with lime? any good??

You're right, Newbride. Right now I need to focus on resting and getting better rather than exercising.

I love Diet Coke with lime. I don't like Diet Coke (aftertaste); I'm a Diet Pepsi gal, but I really love the Diet Coke with Lime.

A long time ago I started asking for a wedge of lime to go in my drink at places that only sold Diet Coke, because it killed the aftertaste. Now I can buy it that way.

I'm feeling a little better this afternoon, but when I woke up I thought my eyes would pop right out of my head due to the pressure. Gotta love a sinus infection, don't ya?

Food

2 slices of toast spread with a very thin layer of peanut butter
hot chocolate
water

12 chicken in a basket crackers
water

Italian soup
Diet Coke with Lime

I think my tea kettle is whistling...
