A brand new start

Ah, Ladies I am so glad you posted with those encouraging words! I was just about to post a whole pity party (Wanna snap my chin strap?) because I got dressed this morning and I am disgusted! I can feel my thighs with every breath! Thank you for putting it all in the proper perspective! I have put on some weight and I am making some positive changes to take it off!!! Thank you!

(Rosered, I have filled my water jug and I have vowed not to drink anything else until that mug is empty!)

Sounds good scrappy! I'll do the same!

Making lifestyle changes takes a long time to really get it down..don't get upset girl, we are all here for ya! You can do it!!

Hey you are doing really good! And we ALL have those mornings we get up and feel frustrated about our weight. Even though we all know we are on the right track. For instance, last night I hit the gym and only had my old running shorts to wear instead of work out clothes, and they were snug, my thighs kept rubbing to gether, I was so irked and frustrated!! I just felt huge, and for some reason this made me not feel motivated for the gym. UH DUH! :) So I made myself go. Got in a 50 minute cardio work out and 30 minutes with weights. :)

So you can do this and you can get out of your slump of feeling awful :) F eel proud of yourself, because you're doing this! Most people wouldn't bother.. :)

You're doing great! Don't let the chocolate get you down and like the rest of the ladies said you probably worked all of it off in your walk.

Oh, why is this so hard?! Yesterday was very tough. I did manage to get in a mall walk, but I had the hardest time resisting temptation! By the end of the day I just wanted to plop down on the couch with a box of chocolates and consume the whole thing! Ugh! I hate it when the task gets so hard. I did have some candies from my stocking (and a cinnamon roll and too much low fat banana bread, and too many diet sodas), but I just couldn't get rid of the feeling! At one point I was actually contemplating eating the next cinnamon roll on the pan (while still chewing the one I did eat). I shook my head and headed out of the kitchen, but man, why does the thought even occur to me? I wish we didn't have to eat at all. That way I could just avoid everything!
Frustrated, but walking,

NewLeaf,
You just reminded me of one of my favorite quotes:
I had to give up jogging. My thighs rubbed together and my pants caught on fire!
LOL, Thanks for the smile and the encouragement!

I know just how you feel scrappy..i'm going through that myself. I just can't get back on my diet. Everyday I start off good and end up binging at the end of the night. TOday hasn't even started off good, lol.

I dont know why its so hard

Thank you for saying so, Newbride. :)
It makes me feel a bit better to know that someone else is having the same struggles!

Hey, I'm pretty excited! This evening a friend told me about a new program through the Y called, South Carolina Shrinks Down. It is free to the community. It lasts 8 weeks and starts Monday. There is a big kick-off on Monday and then on Fridays you go for a weigh-in. Maybe this will be the spark of inspiration I've been missing! My new goal is to lose 15 pounds by the end of the SCSD.
banana bread
oj
peanut butter and blackberry jelly on wheat
a handful of chips
popcorn and diet pepsi/cherry pepsi at the movies (King Kong)
Greek salad and a chicken panini (love eating at Panera- my new favorite "girlie" restaraunt)
chai latte (mmmmm)
Tokyo sunset (mixed drink... it has pineapple juice in it. Can I count that as a serving of fruit?!)
diet pepsi

wow! how exciting!! you lucky duck! I hope you have fun!!

By the time thats done, we should be getting ready for our "big $ challenge"!!

Still looking forward to tomorrow's kick off for South Carolina Shrinks Down. I'll let you know how it goes.
Went to the park with Aaron today. We had a mommy date. We took his bike (Santa brought it) and he rode so well. He biked through the park and then we put the bike in the van and went back to one of the playgrounds to play. With just one kid I really got some exercise in! I did have to walk fast to keep up with his new biking skills and we played hard on the equipment. ("Mom, I'll race you all the way back to the van!")
As we were biking back to the van (well he was biking I was walking...) it was a bit of a slope and he really did get far ahead of me and I was almost choking back tears. He really is a big boy. Not my baby and not my toddler, but my big boy. He looked so "grown up" with that red helmet and the Power Ranger knee/elbow pads. He was just biking along. I tried to remember snuggling his little infant self and it was hard. I tried to recall that wonderful baby Aaron smell and I couldn't. Sniff, sniff. Where did all the time go? When did he grow up? Where was I??!

Awww girl! :) Congrats on your great work out with your son! :) And I love the reminsicing, he sounds so sweet and they do grow up so fast! I don't have any kids as of yet, but my oldest niece is turning 11 this Feb. I can still remember the day she was born and it just blows my mind, she's running around now almost a pre-teen!! It kills me!! :) Luckily, her newest brother was born on Thanksgiving so I have another baby fix!!

Just cherish all the new "big boy" moments you'll get with him, like riding his bike etc.!! :)

NewLeaf, You are so right that they do grow up quickly!
Well, Day one went well. Very well, in fact.
I started the day with a walk around the park with a friend and her almost-two year old. Then I headed over to the grocery store to stock up on "diet friendly" food. After I picked up my oldest from school we headed over to Lander University for the kick off of South Carolina Shrink Down. We were weighed (Let me assure you that I weigh about 6 extra pounds by 4:00!) and given a tshirt, a notebook with some helpful stuff (food suggestions, place to track diet and exercise, notice of classes that we can attend for free), and a bottled water. I"m feeling very pumped!
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 T brown sugar
1/8 cup each, walnuts and raisins
1/4 cup 1% milk
Lean Cuisine baked chicken with stuffing and whipped potatoes
romaine lettuce with 1 T Greek salad dressing
sugar free chocolate pudding with T of light whipped cream
large bowl of homemade vegetable beef soup (quick, easy and nutritious)
bite of lowfat mozz cheese and a sprinkle of parm
whole wheat dinner roll
diet pepsi
sugar free tapioca pudding with T of light whipped cream

1+ water mugs (should be getting in two, but I've never drank both of them. At least I started in on the refill today.)

Looking over this, it appears that I could be adding more lowfat dairy.
I forgot to mention that the SCSD handbook illustrates the Mayo Clinic food pyramid and they suggest 4 servings of fruits and 5 servings of vegetables a day! And here I thought I was doing well with 4.5 servings of fruits AND vegetables!)

I saw your post on eating at Panera- I'm so jealous! I love that place, but Montana is verrrrry lame and we don't have any. Yet. Lean cuisine makes paninis now, soooo good :)

Wow you are doing great! This group sounds like a excellent motivator.

As for the Panera commentary.. ooh its one of my FAVORITE places to eat!:)

Hey Scrappy! I love the sound of the challenge you are entering. What great community support! Sounds like fun and perhaps you'll meet some great friends there. Keep us posted on how it goes, maybe you'll learn some good tips! You're looking good so far, keep it up! Your friend, MJ

Totallyscrappy, your pumpedness is making me feel pumped! Wooo! And congrats on all your healthy and delicious looking eating! I like panera too, but some of the stuff is surprisingly high in calories. However, I think they have nutritional info on their web page. You rule!

Fellow Panera Fans,
I definitely like any place that will sell me a delicious pastry or sandwich or Greek salad. And a chai latte is just "icing on the cake." (Even if the sucker was almost 4 dollars!) Yea, Fuunky, not only is this stuff got to be high calorie, but pricey as well!
I am very pumped about the whole SC shrinks down thing. I'm glad that you are getting pumped too! Today I heard that they had over 800 people register yesterday. This isn't a very large town! (Obviously, an overweight town, however!)
Today's food
2 whole wheat waffles with a smear of country crock
1 T lite syrup
1/2 cup lowfat vanilla yogurt
1/8 cup walnuts
leftover homemade veggie beef soup
1/2 lean cuisine pepperoni pizza
weight watchers cookies and cream bar
broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and lowfat (O'Charley's) honey mustard dressing
10 mushroom rigatoni
1/4 cup tomato sauce
small apple
mini peppermint patty (it looked like a snowflake!)
chai latte (General International Foods... wasn't $4 for the whole box!)
Weight watchers chocolate cake (Hahaha. It was good, but I just have to ask if you remember the Jell-O commercial when they showed the 10 calorie cookie or the 10 caloire brownie? Because this is the 10, okay 80 calorie cake. I'm saying that my compact cell phone is larger... but it was tasty)
No exercise today... as if... took three boys to get haircuts. Ahhaha... Sammy (2) was holding my hand while he and David and I walked toward the shop. He kept saying, "Two aircut." (no h and no s) :) I love the way he talks! "What are you doing, Sam?" "Nuffin."
Off for some sleep! I'm meeting the girls at the mall to walk in the morning and then we are taking the boys to see a aeronotical display. Sometime tommorow I am meeting a friend to buy some gym shoes. (Buy one, get one half off sale.) Plus, a church council meeting in the pm.
Busy
