Hey guys!

So this is my first entry in to my weight loss diary =)

Background info, try to do this as succinctly as possible!

Overweight for a good 10 years now due to a sedentry lifestyle, poor choice in foods, large portions of food, medications for an illness which ive had for 10 years and having poor self-esteem and confidence to do anything about it. I lost about 30kg in 2008-2009 through dancing, classical indian dance of south india, quite strenuous and full on, imagine a workout worse than the gym lol. It really utilises the whole body. However, all the weight came back when i relapsed in 2010, plus more! It was quite depressing and a vicious cycle of eating more to get over the weight gain.

So, here i am in 2014 with renewed confidence and courage to take on this weight battle =D Oh and a boyfriend/fiance to be! That helps lol.

I started going to the gym in Feb 2014 and have lost 12kg since then. Good but not great i think so. So i looked at my diet and thought about how i can improve it. There wasn't much i could change. Portions were small, calories were around 1200 per day and the type of food was healthy. Makes no sense to me. I really thought with the gym + diet, kilos would fall off! lol i was gravely mistaken and this lead to much disappointment and ofc a little eating...

I've started a new diet as of today. I'm not sure we can drop diet names but ill stick to the gist of the diet. Basically its only veges, fruits, some carbs and since im vegetarian tofu. No coffee/tea (my weakness) , sugar, much dairy or oils. I think i will do great since i feel really good so far on the vege/fruits =) I tried two days but gave in to a slice of multigrain bread by afternoon lol. I know it sounds bad but its not a diet really its more so of a detox/cleanse for few days and will hopefully get me to eat more veges/fruit and drink more water afterwards =)

So i think these questions will better summarise my purpose and background =) Thanks WLF!

-- How much weight do you want to lose? 40kg

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight? 1-2 years safely?

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? Diet, gym, more active lifestyle

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? Doctor, family, friends and weightloss forum.

-- How realistic is your goal? Fairly realistic i hope!

-- When will you start? Today!

-- What is your current height and weight? 163cm, 110kg

-- If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be? 70kg

-- At what weight would you like to be at four months from now? 90ish (wishful i think)

-- Why do you want to lose weight? Upcoming engagement, wedding and more so to be healthy fit and energetic!

Thanks for reading!

Hey guys =) So this is my update for the past few days, roughly since Monday.

I started out well, eating lots of fruits and veges on Monday and Tuesday but on Wednesday mum made vegetarian lasagne! I was so sad because one small square slice, lead to two more slices =( Nevertheless, I was determined to start over again on Wednesday and with much success. I lost a bit which was surprising considering I had lasagne the previous day. Yesterday I was out for the majority of the day and didn’t eat much but when I got home I had some veges, oh and puff pastry =( Overall, if I look at my week as a detox/cleanse, I did not do so well… wanted to say failed but trying to be more objective =D But if I look at my week as days of healthier eating, I did quite well as to the choices I made. The lasagne and pastry were poor choices but other than that I think I did well =) And ive hit the 109kg mark! Now to get in to 105 =)
Exercise wise, I have been very good, persistent and consistent for the past 4 and a half months. The first month I went daily four hours, two in the morning two in the afternoon, but this proved unsustainable! Plus I think I was overworking myself because when I cut down to two hours per day there was a dramatic weight loss =D I love that im working harder and harder every day/week improving my times, calories and distances on the cardio machines. Love the cross trainer and strider, find them fun lol. I don’t do any stregth training as of yet but I might pick it up later. I also walk regularly every day and enjoy the alone time and peace and of course my music! I’m also starting a course soon so im sure that will me more occupied and from boredom eating lol.

So, overall diet and exercise have been good but not great. I’m sure there is much room for improvement especially in my diet and this gives me hope of losing more kilos =) Also quite good is that my coffee intake has gone down from 2-3 per day to 1 per day and that too without sugar and only lite milk. That’s also shown a differenc in my weight. So every week I feel im getting lighter and closer to becoming a better me on the inside and the outside. I hope I lose a good 5kg next week when I do the detox faithfully. That’s all for now =D

Gaining a little momentum. Good job overcoming the lasagna slip up! You had one bad meal and just got back on plan. You are doing good!

Thanks Brawny77! Yes i felt guilty for indulging but hey im only human =] Thanks for the support Brawny77 =D

Hey Nisha.
Looking good girl....
One thing I wanted to say... Don't threat the bad stuff.... One thing I've learned over the years, is that its all not what you eat as much as it is how much you eat. So when you have a day of the bad stuff just make sure you portion it correctly. There is nothing wrong with lasagna as long as you don't overindulge. Keep your portion sizes to a min.
Now on that same token, don't abuse it either. Still make sure you eat healthy as much as you can also.

Well good luck girl..... and remember we are all watching.... he he...

Well it's been another week .. not great but i've learnt something very valuable...

We/I have certain expectations when it comes to weight loss or anything for that matter. When you set the bar too high and fail, you feel great sadness and when you set it too low well lets be honest your not motivated to do it at all! lol so what i take from this week is that you have to have realistic expectations and not try to make this something bigger than it is. Its not the end of the world if you go off track or cant lose as much weight as you want. It's for you at the end of the day so just try and keep your head up and do the best you can. Make a lifestyle change and have a good attitude.

Weight Loss 0 - Nisha's Attitude 10! lolz :D

Drum roll>>> PROGRESS HAS BEEN ACHIEVED!! LOLZzz

Well it was quite an exciting week for me =) I managed to implement many changes and stick to them for once, thanks to my new found atttitude ^_^

So i started my cleanse/detox this week and have lost 2kg roughly!! Expected weight loss was 5kg but hey ill take 2kg after many weeks stuck on 112/110. Now 108!! Awesomeee!! lol So i have hit a new low weight range, now my goal is to beat that! I'm sure i can get to 105kg if i maintain the healthy eating - i was good with the cleanse but could do better!

ALso exciting and very impressive (for me at least) is that i went 5 days without any tea or coffee!!! SO proud! ^_^ I only drank green tea mostly 2-3 a day. Also great is everyone telling me have i lost weight?? YES I HAVE PPLZZ lolz>>> i know im way to excited but i felt so low and depressed past weeks coz my weight was going no where.

So heres to a new week! Hopefully full of more surprises and excitement! Will you keep you posted guys ^_*

Ha, I like your positive attitude. :)

2 Kg is still pretty damn good for a week! Well done!

When I first started I should have been around 105 Kg [I could not get an accurate measure until some time later] and at that time it seemed that I was progressing soooo sloooowly, but looking back time passed pretty fast. At the time it seemed like I was not making any progress at all, but when I finally looked at my logs I could actually see the trend downward.

Consistency is a lot more valuable in the long run than fast progress, so as long as you are sticking with your plan you should be fine.

Good luck and keep up the good work! :)

hey AthalaRanger!

Thanks for stopping by =)

Wow, positive attitude me?? lol must be new to my life coz catastrophising is my second name lol. Yes now that you mention it 2kg is great for a week =D Thank you so much!

Aha your right, my log show a downward trend for the past 5 months which was a surprise because i was so focused on the weekly/daily weight loss number. Consistency! That's exactly what i need to aim for =) Thanks for pointing that out, i always miss the obvious things to do.

Thanks again for the support ^_^

So this week, im starting up again just trialing healthy eating for the next few days instead of the cleanse.

Went to the gym had a good day not bad but lately noticed ive lost my stamina. Maybe because of the reduction in meds but id rather less stamina then meds. Any tips on stamina improvement would be good?

Anyways, had watermelon and green tea for breakky. Going to have veges and tofu for lunch. Havent decided on dinner yet. Mum's making megoreng! Darn it lolz but im strong enough to not eat it, at least i hope!

Well that's it for now, will post my week's result in 7 days ^_^

You go girl...
We're all watching and rooting for you.....
and yes you do have an awesome positive attitude.

Keep pushing....

catastrophising

Thats a good word. Im gonna use that one at work!

Stamina tip from uncle Brawny- Baby steps girl. If you are coming off the meds you will need to build up slowly through small increases in exercise. You will get stronger. No rush just move in the right direction. Its a holistic thing!

@GreyGhostHunter: THank you!! ^_^ Will do!

@Brawny: haha yea i love that word =) I see what you mean and your completely right, i always do things too soon too fast. Baby steps and small increases, got it =)

THANK YOU guyss ^_^
