5x5 Deadlifts!

I can do bar dips without issue, but doing them on the suspension trainer was a great lesson in how much mechanical advantage I must be getting on the bars.
Most ridiculous dips I remember doing were on a set of bars that were just a bit wider than my shoulders so really easy, added weight that got to 50kg even with shoulders coming down to just above the bars, got 4 or 5 as PB if I recall. Total contrast, first time doing them on suspension trainer just my bodyweight I struggled to get 6 and that was with a floor touch to regain balance.

Yep, we flirted with dips on the rings... Crazy hard!

No supersets today. Just wore out chest.

Dips - BWx6x6
Neck Press - 135x6x8
Military Press - 85x4x8
Incline Bench - 85x3x6
Skull Crushers - 45x8x8

My dips stayed the same, but I got in two more sets of 8 neck presses. I never thought doing anything with 135 lbs could be so hard. Bringing down 135 on a standard bench press is easy enough, but bringing it down so it touches your chin is a completely different ball game. It's crazy how much you can feel the burn in your upper chest doing those. So much more so than incline bench. In retrospect, I probably should have not done the inclines and done two triceps workouts instead. I've been focusing so much on biceps lately I've been neglecting the muscles that make up 2/3 of your arm mass.

I couldn't imagine doing them on rings. 6'5 240 doesn't belong on rings haha.

Wuss!
Says the 5'10" average height lunatic who's old enough to know better.

I'm not sure you can use that as an excuse, Justin. Tom is 6'5 although only 185... we tested the rings with both of us standing on them to be sure they could take plenty of weight... we exceed 325 together.

'Course at this point it's all I can do to hold myself up with the rings at my hips, any dipping that occurs is likely accidental and if it exceeds 2-3 inches will probably result in my dropping all the way to the ground. Got a long way to go with this!

I wasn't worried about exceeding the rings weight limit. I was worried about exceeding my own haha. I'm not sure if I have the "stabilizing" strength I would need to balance on them.

Dips on suspension is bizarre no doubt. I am a fussy individual though I have to feel bicep touch forearm to call it a dip.
I outweigh Tom by around 5 pounds, but even my long for 5'10" limbs will give me an easier time than his or Justin's.
Body weight work is strange. I was so small when young that it was easy, gaining 50% of my original weight hasn't changed this. Others who started out heavier and are now lighter than me find it terrifyingly difficult. I guess there is a lot of technique advantage, backed up by knowing others as strong who struggle with it.

Well, I read some interesting articles about how the "testosterone boost" from heavy lifts(such as deads and squats) can help the size of smaller muscle groups when worked at the same time, so to test this theory, I'll keep going bi's with squats.

Squats - 165x8x8
Front Squat - 80x8x8 - Superset last four sets with 80x4x8 Military Press
Barbell Curl - 65x8x8 - 80x3x6
Close Grip Barbell Curl - 45x8x8

I meant to do calf raises, but I had to break in the middle of my session to help get the kids in bed and when I came back, I forgot. Oh well. I could have gone a bit heavier with the front squats, but I don't want to get ahead of myself. I feel like I'm not doing enough with my legs between the squats and front squats. Maybe it's because I "only" did "two sets", but then again they are 8x8 sets and my weight is going up, so I guess I'm doing something right. My jeans are getting tight on my thigh's again, so I have that going for me, which is nice.

I definitely don't have it at the moment, but have plans to gain the stabilizing strength this summer. Can't wait for our overnight temps to warm up a bit so we can resume out morning yard workouts. Call me wimpy, but bar and ring work when temps are below freezing just isn't all that fun.

Seeing as I did chest Saturday, legs and bi's yesterday and I'll do back before I hit chest again, I wanted to blast my tri's real quick tonight, because I can. Oh, the joys of working out at home.

Romanian Deadlifts - 135x8x8
Bench Dips - BWx8x8
Skull Crushers - 45x8x8

I threw in the RDL's because(Having done squats yesterday) I hate my lower back, obviously. The RDL's got my heart going in a way the triceps exercises couldn't, so I figured why not. Anyway, I know it doesn't seem like a lot, but I did all of this in 15 minutes, which equates to about 1.5 sets per minute. It was a good, quick shock, and a bit of focus on the triceps that I was complaining about the other day. Next time, I'll throw in one more exercise to round it out. Tonight was a spur of the moment kind of thing.

45 degrees fahrenheit is over 7 degrees centigrade, that's brilliant training weather. Of course there is the fact that at that level you stop and the river of sweat running down your spine suddenly feels like an ice bath, but you get used to it.
My internal thermostat has always been a bit strange. Where I worked previously stated the new definition of absolute 0 was when I felt it was too cold to run in shorts. Other people look out at a hot sunny day and comment on how wonderful it is, I melt into a sweaty heap.

With your rest times you are virtually at no rest circuit level. Your natural endurance must be well above mine. It has taken me years to be able to cut rests to that level.

I wouldn't say my endurance is that high. I've always had ok endurance, but I was also working with body weight and little weight on the skull crushers. I probably could have added 10 pounds to the skull crushers and dragged it out a little more.

Muscular strength endurance is my weakness. I can go dramatic one or 2 reps or stamina where I go forever but the middle ground kills me.

No training over the weekend "per se", but I did have to load, unload, carry and dump Fifteen 70lb bags of mulch in the flower garden for the wife, and put up a new 10x10 metal framed gazebo for our patio, so I don't feel bad about not lifting. I'm getting back to it tonight, though. I'm pretty sure I skipped a back day somewhere, so I need to try to have a more "set" schedule for training so it doesn't happen again. Perhaps I'll make a schedule and put it on the wall.

Went one step further with dips last night. Happy about that.

Dips - BWx6x8
Neck Press - 135x6x6
Military Press - 85x8x8
Bench Dip - BWx4x8
Skull Crusher - 55x8x8(5 Second rests)
Barbell Curl - 55x8x8(5 Second rests)

I could be happy about the fact that I bumped my dips up again from 6x6 to 6x8, and I could also be upset about the fact that I "only" did 6x6 Neck Presses, when I did 8x8 last week. I'll blame the drop in Neck Presses on the push in Dips and be satisfied about it. It's time to move the weight up in Military Press as I wouldn't call what I did last night easy, but it certainly wasn't as hard as it could have been. I fried my biceps and triceps real quick at the end by doing 8x8 sets of skullcrushers and curls, not putting the bar down and only taking 5 second breaks between reps. The woke my arms up real quick.
