365 Days Wedding Weight Loss

I find summer harder with restricting calories. It's such a social time. Not disliking your shape is a wonderful thing. I love hearing that!

Thanks Cate, I agree about the summer but also Chridtmas too! Hope you are keeping well x

Not a cocktail fan but flapjack sounds yummy!

It was! It was actually given to me by the friendly chef at the restaurant I ate at with my mum last week after he came to our table for a chat. It was vegan which is unusual for me! Hope you are well x

Day 29/365

Snacks got to me today. I had wheaten with marmalade for breakfast, salad with bacon for lunch and chicken with rice and veg for dinner. Not bad but ruined by the trip to the ice cream shop at the end of my street. Ireland was sunny and we just wanted to enjoy the sun and ice cream seemed to be the answer. We also went to the beach for a 20 minute swim which was amazing. The cold water really gets the endorphins going.

Usually I do 3 long workouts a week but from tomorrow I am going to try to do a shorter workout every day. Now that I have written that down it feels like a commitment!

One or two scoops, especially fruit flavors, aren't a big splurge. It's usually the big coups, cream-based icecream, topped with whipped cream, maybe some syrup and candied nuts... that's the problem.

Thats good to know, thanks LaMa

Ooh. A swim? Good for you!

I love it when that happens. Diaries do keep us more accountable :)
I have actually just woken up with a hangover and saw this comment and thought ughhhhh I totally forgot about this lol! I will have to work out before bed tonight after I've recovered.

Day 30/365

Just get me through this August while I still fit in my jeans. Things KEEP coming up this summer that I am really trying to go with the flow with.

So my family that I visited last week travelled to Belfast yesterday to watch my partner play a hurling match. They live in England and have been staying a couple of hours from Belfast so they were excited to visit their favourite Mexican restaurant while they were here. I was hosting them so I brought them. I had a child's portion of chilli con carne which wasn't as bad as a burrito I guess. I ended up with a small group from the hurling club celebrating through the night (Gin and tonic). We were conscious of social distancing, this was all outdoors and the Mexican restaurant was pick up only, we just collected and brought home.

Back home in the wee hours and my friend couldn't get a taxi so we stayed up chatting in my living room and eating hashbrowns :(:(:(:(.

Today my partner has asked if we can go to his family's home for a couple of days so I will postpone my fast days this week to Wednesday and Friday. I feel like I should put a disclaimer here that cases of covid are really quite low in the North of Ireland. Deaths have more or less grinded to a halt in the last few weeks. I DEFINITELY see a second wave on the horizon so I'm taking the opportunity to see family while I can. It has been a long 5 months.

My workout commitment..... well I can't think of that right now with a hangover! I will schedule one in today though when I feel better. Unfortunately/fortunately my partner won man of the match yesterday and the prize was sponsored by a pizza place....

Oh well, it sounds like a one time kind of thing. Long run it will not matter, and what happened yesterday doesn't matter anyway, its what you do today that matters. You will be fine!

:D Having a social life can definitely make it harder to keep your figure! Sounds like you enjoyed yourself though, which is quite important. Child portion of chili con carne could be a great choice. The alcohol... weeeeell... Gin is relatively low-carb for a spirit, isn't it?

Yes I think as far as spirits go gin is usually the go to for people on a diet :)

Day 31/365

A full month posting here now. Minimal progress but maintained weight and commitment. Today I really didn't want to work out but because I had written here I pushed myself to do it and it wasn't so bad. Even if I am coming on here every day and logging a pizza, I think the ongoing commitment to post has helped me to keep alert to the amount and content of my food so when and if I see fluctuations on the scale I can understand them and understand that I am in control of that.

My work out was difficult enough with a hangover but I had to lose a couple of sets because I am having some trouble with my wrist. I broke it about 18 months ago and I'm just not sure if it is healed right. Anyway I was happy to exclude a set today.

Our prize pizza arrived today and I had 3 slices. I feel very bloated but content. I wouldn't like to be putting my jeans on after this weekend but I know my body responds as quickly to poor food decisions as it does to good choices and so I will try not to worry about my jeans until I get back to work properly and I can build a consistent eating routine with less time for socialising!

Day 32

I think its time I pull my socks up and draw a line under the summer fun now. I don't think I have had a week without drinking since before last Christmas and over lockdown it has been multiple times a week....Since I am finding writing here to be helpful in maintaining commitments I want to make 3 more specific commitments until the end of September:

No drink,
No online shopping (except 2 birthday gifts I need to buy)
...and no bread

This isn't something I am going to try to do, this is me actually writing what I am about to definitely do :). From today.

Yesterday's workout was a little hike so it was nice to get out rather than sweating in the living room! I will work out again before bed tonight :)

Sounds like a doable plan and 3 small drinks are around 500 kcal, not to mention the food you (ok, I!) tend to eat when alcohol flows.

Day 33

The first day of my renewed commitments and actually was supposed to be a fast day. When I think of fasting I tend to prefer to do it on days when I can avoid seeing people or when I am so busy that I don't have time to remember I'm fasting.

At the moment both of those things are impossible to rely on regularly. My partner and I, both teachers, have a lot of time off at the moment so we are not busy and finally having the green light to spend time with family has been lovely so I am lifting the pressure of fasting off myself for a while at least until it fits into my lifestyle better - because I know it works for me when it does.

In its place I will aim for a small deficit each day helped by the my fitness pal app. I won't bore you with the calories of each thing I eat but just summarise how each day has went.

I had an unusually large brunch but in keeping with my new no bread rule, it was low carb. Eating a lot of my calorie allowance this early is unusual for me but was happy to enjoy this meal with the inlaws.

Dinner JUST scraped into my calorie allowance leaving me with a small deficit for today. Small wins add up though.

Realllly struggled with my work out today because it is so humid here. I tried and failed to complete 3 differrent things but together my 3 failed attempts added up to one (albeit lacklustre) short work out. Took out my rower and did 5 min on it to finish too. I like rowing and used to row at university so its annoying that I can't row for much longer than 5 min at the minute because the rower bunches up the carpet and I have to keep getting off to flatten it out. Its a bit distracting.

Actually the biggest temptation today wasn't eating bread or having a glass of wine.. it was the online shopping. I have to admit I did some browsing but no purchasing. The mood I'm in at the moment, avoiding an impulse purchase is a miracle. I will admit to booking an air bnb for my cousins wedding though so my purse didn't make it through the day entirely unwounded. Not sure that counts as online shopping though.

Could you put a board under your rower to spare the carpet? Sounds like your new rules really helped today and small deficits do indeed add up, especially when you have a lot of time and only a little weight to lose.
