Hello all! I have lost 108 pounds since just before Christmas 2008! I am a little over a third of the way to goal! Get my whole story at my blog!

Watch Me Lose 300 Pounds

I hope my story will help inspire others to get healthy!

What makes you inspiring?

I'm always curious when people use that word directed at themselves...

What methods are you using to get to your goal? what struggles are you overcoming?

they havnt really, not unless they had surgery or starved themselves and were HUGELY obese. My guess is they were spamming

No, not spamming. This board has been extremely un-positive so have chosen not to say anything else as my mother taught me that if I didn't have anything positive to say, not to say anything at all. Ya'll can just keep your negative vibes to yourselves. Yes, I was at 493 pounds just before Christmas but with a 1000-1200 calorie diet and exercise, I am down too 377 as of last Friday. Just good old fashioned sweat and determination. Inspirational? Maybe to a few but your right mal. I have no right to proclaim myself as that since I allowed myself to get that big to begin with.

You have every right to proclaim yourself as inspirational. You are inspirational to me. I'm also in the 400 lb. range and I have struggled since high school with my weight. I honestly didn't believe I could lose weight. Registering for this site was best thing I could have done for myself.

Why?

Because I get to read inspirational posts like yours. Because of you, I can't offer any kind of excuses as to why I can't lose 100 lbs. You're a little bigger than I was starting out and look where you are now! It's amazing and VERY inspiring. Thank you for helping me with your story. :)

Thank you! I am just figuring out this web stuff and had actually put together my first blog to follow my progress and was looking for places to let people know where they could follow my progress. Stupid me, didn't read the fine print that states no links allowed on this forum so I started off on the wrong foot with a few people. I was so proud of myself for putting together a blog (this from someone who has no experience doing anything on the web besides following family trees and playing games). You, too, can lose your weight! YOU have just got to make up your mind to make it happen. There are a ton of excuses out there just waiting on me to use them but I have decided to follow the mantra of "No More Excuses!". Thank you very much for your compliment. They inspire to continue to strive towards my goal! As I said, last Friday I weighed in at 377 and I am going to try my hardest to be at 230 by December 31st, 2009 which may be a bit unrealistic. My secondary goal will be to be at 230 by April 15th, 2010. I have averaged 5.6 pounds lost per week. If I average 4.3 pounds the rest of the way, I will get there! I know that as you get closer to goal, it gets harder so probably a more realistic goal is averaging 3 pounds per week. I guess we shall wait and see! Good luck on your journey!

Surprised to hear that. I have seen very little negative comments on these boards - most people are very positive and supportive.

Your extremely restricted diet and rate of weight loss may concern people, because 1000-1200 kcal sounds starvation-level low, and your rate of weight loss is a lot higher than the accepted healthy rate of 2 pounds per week.

However, at your size, I think all bets are off as to what can be accomplished, and I certainly don't know enough to say what such a restricted diet does to your physiology at that weight. I can totally see a rapid weight loss being possible when you start out where you did. I would expect to see that rate slow (which is not a bad thing at all) as you continue to drop.
So far I have been averaging 3 lbs per week myself, and am quite happy with that rate. But I didn't start anywhere near as high as you did.

Hats off, and good health to you.

Can you tell us about what you are eating, what your exercise routine is, if you are using any medications or anything?

I think the reason they said that you were spamming is because you posted in the journal section, and you just posted that you were inspirational and that's all, with no other details or information. It's was highly suspicious.

But congrats to you on your success. I'm sure it was not easy. :)

Yes, I understand where they are coming from after retrospect and part of the responsability is on me by not reading and learning more on what is expected and allowed on this forum before posting.

I am under a doctors supervision and see her weekly. I am following the Medi Weightloss clinic formula and attend TOPS weekly. I also follow this exercise regiment;

Tues, Thurs, Sat = 30 minutes cycling & 30 minutes circuit training
Wed, Fri, Sun = 30 minutes cycling am, 3 miles walking pm
Mon = 3 miles walking (day of rest lol!)

I have never felt better in the past 20 years! I am very competitive and I feel, right now, that I am competing against myself. This is my marathon!
My job is sitting at a desk so I don't feel like I am over doing it when it comes to the work out.

Thanks for asking! :seeya:

:waving: Hello all! It has been an up and down week! No cheating but did get down on myself a bit as I compare pictures. After nearly 5 months of working out and dieting, I felt like I should be showing more of a difference but I ended up reminding myself that it took a lot longer than 5 months to put on all of this weight. Here are my before and after shots as they stand now. I lost 6 pounds this week for a total 122 pounds. 10 more pounds and I will be half way there! I also had a deal happen today where I hit my hand and I was shaking it off when I heard this metal clanging sound and looked down in time to see my ring go rolling down the hall! :rotflmao:

congrats on your loss!!! you and your family must be so proud.

I'm curious about the foods you eat. Is medi weightloss a liquid diet? What does your daily intake look like.

Once again, great job!!!

Matt

I keep a daily food chart where I usually run in these ranges:

Calories: 1,000 - 1,200
Carbs : 20 - 25g
sodium : under 2,300mg (prefer 1,500 - 1,800mg)
Fat : under 40g (mostly in the 30-35g range)

MediWeightloss is a high protien / low carb diet. I stay with lean meats (eggs, poultry & fish) with a few traces of lean red meat (96% hamburger) and maybe a filet mignon once every 2 weeks. Most of my carbs come from veggies, salads, and berries. I also love the Kroeger CarbMaster Yougurts.

sounds like my story only i lost about 140 pounds with the 1000 intake....but thats sucks cuz you get so hungry its rediculous

From what I read you shouldn't go under 1200 calories per day. I'm new at this though, and just figuring it all out.
Our family is doing a very public weight loss competition between ourselves inspired by the show "The Biggest Loser" (our first weigh in was 05/14) and I want to lose extreme amounts like they did on the show, but at the same time, I know that's not the healthy way to lose.. I was seeing that they were losing like 20+ per week on the show!!
I would think losing too fast wouldn't give your skin time to adjust and leave you all like flabby or something. I don't want plastic surgery when I'm done so I'm trying to do this the healthy way. :)
Just be careful not to do too much and lose it in an unhealthy way.
Congrats on your weight loss too.. stories like yours do inspire me. :)

Actually, I haven't had a hunger issue. Maybe 2 days during the last 5 months that hunger was an issue, otherwise, it just might be my determination to make this happen. Another thing might be that I eat at 6a, 9a, 11a, 1p, 3p, and 6p. Here is what I had today.

6a: 1 egg, 3 egg whites made into an omelet with a little weight watchers shredded cheese, lettuce, and a touch of salsa.

9a: 9 smokehouse almonds

11a: 1 Kroeger CarbMaster Yougurt

1p: 1 can very low sodium tuna, 1 tbls of low carb relish, wrapped in a lettuce leaf, 2 sugar free jellos

3p: 9 smokehouse almonds

6p: 2 Gorton's blackened cajun style fish patties, 1 can no salt added spinach

I also drink 120 oz's of water per day. I think this is the secret nobody tells you about. I have heard formula's all over the board of any where from....Water isn't important too taking your body weight and multiplying it by .55 to come up with the ounces of water you need to stay hydrated. It seems that 120oz for me seems right. Two things happen when you are well hydrated. #1) your liver can be focused on turning your fat stores into energy. When you are dehydrated, your kidneys don't function as well and your liver has to kick in to help the kidneys. #2) Assists in helping your skin do it's thing. Am I worried about lose skin? Yeah! But I was more worried about staying alive at nearly 500 pounds when I was 46 years old. Would I recommend this diet? TO EVERYONE! Every Friday I see my doctor under this plan.

Well, The first thing you have to remember is that they are working out 5 times a day and are under a doctors and dieticians supervision. In my case, I am also under a doctors supervision. Yes, there are unhealthy ways to lose weight but in the same breathe, there are ways to lose that kind of weight, the right way AND it be more than 2 pounds per week. My doctor has just takin me off blood pressure meds due to my weight loss causing my BP to fall to within normal ranges. All of my blood work has come back in normal ranges, this after averaging 6.5 pounds per week since 1/2/09.

Nobody told me this! :)
I guess one of my issues is that I don't drink enough water.. I'm so bad at this that over the last two days (since our competition started) I've stopped drinking tea and soda and stuff, and just haven't really been drinking anything, because I don't like the taste of water.
I guess I'll have to stomach the taste though. Blah.

This is Annette's daughter, Lynn. We've been doing this biggest loser at home thing for 2 days now and I thought it would be a good idea to detox myself to help me with all the junk that I get cravings for. With the system I am on for the detox it tells you how much water to drink. For my weight(277 lbs) it says that I should drink 120 ozs a day. I've actually just been filling up a gallon of water each day and drinking that. Let me just tell you, I feel more healthy already.
I am very proud that you lost that much weight in the amount of time that you have. I agree that with a doctor's supervision you can do it the healthy way. It's just a bummer that I have no insurance myself to get the supervision that you have because I'd like my weight to come off that quickly. I have about 150 lbs to take off and I'd like to do it within 9-12 months.

Lynn
