100 lb Journey

Hi! This is the first post in my weight loss diary. My plan is to lose 100 lbs hopefully by January 2012. My starting weight is 247.4, I am not sure of my body fat % or measurements; I'll have to figure that out tonight. I plan to post what I ate for the day and the workouts that I do each day. I am starting this diary so I have more accountability which will hopefully keep me more focused. I lost about 60 pounds a year and a half ago and have since gained it all back. My goal is to get below 150 lbs. I am not looking for any harsh criticism, just encouragement and a little butt kicking if I fall behind so please no nasty posts. I will post again tonight to give you all an update on how the first day went :)
- Thanks guys!!

I should prob give you a rundown of what I eat every day. Typically I have the same food during the day where it gets rough is dinner and the weekends...here is a typical weekday:

Bfast:
1/2 cup of oats
4 packets of Splenda
1/2 cup of skim milk
Coffee

10 am snack:
Hard-boiled egg

Lunch:
2oz chicken
hot pepper relish
90 calorie roll
water

3pm snack:
fat free yogurt
fruit

My BMR is about 1936 cals right now and I am trying to keep my calorie intake at around 1200/day. My cals during the day is usually around 800 cals depending on the type of fruit and yogurt I eat. So that leaves about 400 cals for dinner. This is where it gets rough for me, I am the hungriest at night/dinner time, I am usually busy at work and distracted so I don't notice hunger as easily. I am planning on working out 4-5 days a week with heavy cardio, I’m not sure how long but at least 45 mins. I don't think that I will use any machines for a bit till I lose some weight because I don't want to bulk up at all. When I lost my weight before I was going to the gym on M,T,R,F and once on the weekends if I could or was motivated enough to go. Motivation is also something I struggle with. Exercising isn't something I see as fun. If I am not seeing the type of results that I would like I may even start going in the mornings as well...but hopefully it won't get to that point lol.

Glad to have you on the WLF, you seem to have it going on. Just stick to your plan and the weight should come off. Even if you just lose a little every week. That is a good thing! Losing slow, I fine is better to keep the weight off longer.

You come to the right place for motivation. Good peoples on this Forum!!

Great! I really do need some more motivation, with everything thats going on it's hard to find time to take care of yourself. I can't let my weight stay at this level for much longer or I will have health problems. Can't wait to see how the diary helps :)

Hey GG!

I am new to these forums but not to the world of fitness. Saw your post in the newbie form and linked over. You made some great progress before and I am sure you can do it again!

One thing is to make sure you actually have your right BMR and that you properly weigh your food. I remember when I wasn't losing weight it was because I was eating a lot more than I thought I was!

I am subscribing and pumped for some weight loss!:lurk5:

Hey gymgirl, welcome to the forum,

You've definitely come to a good place for encouragement! As Iron Soldier said, you've done it before, so you can do it again!

Thanks for subscribing!!! And I was def losing more weight when I weighed my food too, it's a pain to weigh everything but well worth it. Thanks for the encouragment, what happened last time was i got a little burnt out around the 6 month mark and took a break that never ended haha so i am trying to come into this with the mindset that this HAS to be a lifestyle change not just a until 1/2012 change lol.

Good luck on your journey! I just started (again) and we have almost the same starting weights.

We can do it!

We should have a little competition! I am sure that we will loose differently since you are a man but it may help keep us on track :) Are you starting a diary too?

Starting Picture

Ok, So I thought that a starting picture would be good so we can see how my weight loss is going. I will be posting the pictures in the "Progress Pictures" album in my profile. This was taken on vacation last year; I am about the same size now. I will work on more current starting pictures tonight. I may also post them on here if I can figure it out lol :)

Yes! I am going right after work...this will be my first day back so I think that I am going to stick to the elliptical and treadmill for about 45 mins. I usually tried to go until I hit a certain number of calories burned, like 600 and that took about 35-45 mins depending on the intensity.

Not bad, what ever gets ya movin' right! Another thing I like to do is called complexes. Mainly because they are a hell of a lot less boring! I guess you would just use small dumbbells, but what you do is that you do like 5 reps of exercises back to back like 5 squats then 5 deadlifts then 5 presses all without stopping! Just throwing ideas at cha, when I open a diary maybe you'll see what I mean :coolgleamA:!

I love a good competition! :)

Yes, my journal is called Journal Time

Great! I subscribed :) Why don't we try a one month challenge and see who can lose the most from their starting weights from today to April 2nd :) I was reading your journal and you seem to be more intense about the gym so you will probrably win lol but!! you never know :D

think I have heard of those before, the point is to keep your heart rate up right?

Day 1

Ok, i worked out tonight and burned 600 cals. Here is a list of what I ate for the day:

bfast:
1/2 cup oats
4 packets splenda
black coffee
1/2 cup skim milk

Lunch:
sushi

3pm snack:
90 calorie roll
hot pepper relish

Dinner:
9 oz lean London broil
cauliflower

So that brings my calorie total to about 1230 for the day which is right around where I want to be :) Usually I like to calculate how many calories i am in the negative each day here is how I calculate it:

1230 (calories in) - 1936 (BMR) = -706 - 600 (calories burned at the gym) = -1306! :)

Hopefully this will be reflected in my weight tomorrow morning.
