1 hour a day workout

Hi, I am 34 years old woman and I am 5"8 inches tall and I weight 250 pounds
Can anyone tell me if a 1 hour a day workout is good enough to bring me down by the summer time? It is now 12/28/04. To bring me down to at least 170 pounds or more by summer 05? Ok reply soon.

An hour of exercise most days of the week is a good start. But chances are that a sedentary lifestyle is only one of the reasons for your weight.

I would suggest you examine your diet as well. Perhaps even meet with a dietician and personal trainer. You need a customized diet and should also be careful if you haven't participated in serious exercise in the past.

yes, realistically it would. that comes out to about... losing 3lbs a week.

With a person at your weight (which will burn more calories running 2miles than someone who weighed 150 running 2miles), 3lbs a week is in the realistic range.
Just make sure you ease into things, so you dont end up hating and dreading workouts after the second month. Its a lifestyle change, and once you start... you keep feeling better from there.
But most importantly, follow a proper diet that is suited for weightloss. That is by far the most important step.

good luck

My experience

When I started March 21, 2003 I was bumping 400 pounds (397). I started 30 minutes a day and by the end of the first month I was at 60 minutes of cardio a day (7 days a week) and 30 minutes of weights every other day.

I lost 30 pounds in the first two months. After that it slowed down a bit as my cardio health rocketed and my body got used to the exercises.

I'm still doing working out every day although i've been trying HIIT for the past two weeks with a marginal higher weekly loss.

In 9.5 months I've lost 80 pounds. 70 pounds in 6 months is not impossible but you might have to get yourself to where you can do two 45 minute cardio sessions a day plus weights.

My diet hovers around 2000 calories a day, usually less, lots of fruits, veggies and plenty of fiber. No more sodas at all, even diet, but I can't kick the morning caffeine in the dose of a 24 oz starbucks :)

Good luck. You'll see noticable results in two weeks and that's a great motivator to keep it going.

Mike
