Alligatorob's Diary

Today was a good day, ate a few more calories than most days, but not bad for having lunch out. I feel more full than the calorie count suggests I should. When I added it all up I thought it would be more.

It's Pearl Harbor day, WWII started for the US 82 years ago today. Not so much remembered anymore, few left who experienced it.
Back at ya, @Llama !

Was it a special occasion lunch, Rob? I think I would like Bison.

Sorry you've been struggling with the binges again. Life is scary and it makes sense to find a coping mechanism for it, even if it's bad for you. I don't think anyone on the planet is immune to it. You are not alone, is what I'm trying to say. :grouphug:

Today was a good day, ate ok and got in some good exercise. A little over 3 hours in the gym, including some yoga.
Fat tends to be very filling and I think your home meals are generally very low-fat so that might explain the difference.
Probably some truth to that. My home meals today had a bit more fat and I am fuller than most days.

No, just kind of a spur of the moment thing. The closest restaurant to our house is a steak place that specializes in bison, been there many years. They used to raise there own cattle within view of the dining room, but as land got more developed and they got more customers the beef and bison are mostly raised elsewhere. https://maddoxfinefood.com/ Bison is good, doesn't taste a lot different from beef, but its leaner and higher in protein.

Thanks Emily, that makes me feel better, this is a good place to find folks who have similar issues. The not alone thing is important.

Yesterday felt like a binge day, but when I added up my calories I was surprised. I probably underestimated the calories in the ginger cookies, but still it wasn't what it felt like. I did add a couple of pounds this morning, so who knows...
I think the feeling that we're all in this together is what keeps me here.
It is important!
I hope one day I do get back to the US, Rob & get to catch up with you & my other forum friends who live in the US.
Nothing I'd like better, please do plan to visit when you are here. We could show you some Northern Utah sights!

Today wasn't a bad day, no binge and calories were fine, but I ate too much sugar and sweets in those calories... Got in some good exercise.

Wish I had only done it a "couple of times" ... But I know just how you felt, except my joints were ok. In fact I never felt too bad physically from bingeing, that probably makes it worse.

Thank you Marsia, what a nice post! You are very kind and do make me feel better. You are right of course, I am still almost 180 pounds lighter than at my highest, and am consistently exercising, something I never thought I would ever do. Just feeling a bit beaten down over the whole thing today, it does help to step back and see that things really are much better for me than they could be.

Thanks Cate, and it is tedious, a good way to put it. No I don't plan on giving up, I don't think any of us here do. Well maybe if I get some dread disease and only have a very short time to live, then I might... Not happening any time soon, or I don't think it will.

Hey Blue, good to hear from you! Eating more protein does help me stay less hungry, and that does help a little. However I don't usually binge because I am hungry, the urges have little to do with real hunger. Though sometimes hunger can trigger or start one, but that is not my usual pattern... Have you tried it? Does it help you?

No I haven't really tried it.
I've heard that it helps.

Yay for fewer calories than you thought! Even if you underestimated the cookies a little bit that still means it wasn't such a bad binge.

I was watching a cooking show last night (Nigella does Christmas) & her gingerbread looked so good that I thought I had better not even think about making it. I love ginger! You did well to stop eating those tempting little suckers.

Today was a better day, I ate relatively well and feel good tonight. No exercise, don't do the gym Sundays, but I will be back tomorrow. My calories don't look a lot lower than yesterday, but I am pretty sure they are, tried to be a bit more honest/accurate with the counts.

You should try it, more protein is a good thing and it might help you with the binge urges.
Always nice to get a good surprise with less calories than expected!
Yep, I did not eat great yesterday, but it wasn't as bad as I feared before the talley.

No, it wasn't terrible, not what I would want, but not the end of the world either. Found another ginger cookie calorie thing that's a bit higher and used it today. Same cookie calorie count, but fewer cookies.

I like gingerbread... too much.

Today was a good day, a little light on exercise, but good. I slept in and missed the cycling class, but I probably needed the sleep.
Wow. Bionic, Rob! That looks very neat.
I kind of like it, but it only shows in an x-ray.
Only 6 weeks? You're so active I could've sworn it was longer!
I'm probably not as active as it appears. I am going to the gym, but following doctors orders, lighter weights and more reps, and no vigorous exercising. I'll see if I get different instructions on Thursday, six weeks sounds like a bit of a milestone.
Very cool x-ray!!
Thanks Liza! I'll have to post one of the side views, the long screws give it a bit of a Frankenstein look.

6 weeks generally is a bit of a milestone because of average bone healing speed. I stand by what I said regardless of the weights you use.
