Leftover turkey would be convenient to add protein to just about any savory meal. If only it didn't involve preparing a huge turkey first...
 
Wearing snazzy socks always makes me happy. Glad your dog got in on the Thanksgiving feast, too. What do you do with all your leftover turkey? I can never think of what to do with that much, so don't usually make turkey.
 
Today was a good day, too many carbs, but not too many calories. Did a little over 2 hours in the gym, but still working pretty light. I think just doing most of the same exercises but at lower weight or slower is good for me. Better than not going to the gym.

Leftover turkey is good, and I have a lot, but I've been eating a lot of it. I actually have cooked turkeys, smaller ones, mostly to get the leftovers.

She doesn't miss much, if we eat it she always gets a share.

We had a lot of people over for the thanksgiving dinner, and made sure most left with some leftover turkey. Still have as much leftover as from a normal dinner. As Llama says leftover turkey is really a good thing to have in the freezer.

Another good enough day. Too many carbs, but not too many calories. Did about 2 hours in the gym.

Got my second shot in the eye for the macular degeneration, so right now it feels like I got poked in the eye with a sharp stick. Guess I kind of did. Got some good news though, the bleeding has stopped and most of the fluid is gone. My eye sight in that eye is back almost to what it was before. So I guess the shots are helping. Dr said it looked as good as possible. One more shot in a month and then he does some tests and things and decides what comes next.

What Llama and Cate said! Glad your eye is as good as possible and that it will go back to normal soon. That's some treatment - phew!
 
Today was a good day, ate pretty well, got some exercise in and that stick in my eye is almost gone. Spent the afternoon getting the tractor and things ready for snow, we are supposed to get a pretty good storm over the weekend.
Great news about your eyesight! Fingers crossed you'll be able to go back to drops after the next shot.

Thanks, and I do think I will be able to reduce the shots, but from what the Dr says and what I have read once you get wet macular degeneration you can never completely stop the shots. There is some promising research that could change things, but nothing in the approved treatment realm yet...

It really is, a stab in the eye a month is no fun. From what I have read and the Dr says I might be able to reduce it to less often. I sure don't want to ever do it again, but seeing is important. I read that macular degeneration is the primary cause of eye sight loss in the US. Apparently 15 million Americans have it. Did not even know what it was until I got it.

Iirc it's often caused by people, especially those with paler eye colors, not protecting their eyes from uv radiation.
 
I hope the research reaches a good conclusion in time for you to benefit from it. That's really harsh, but so great shots treat it! I didn't know it was from not protecting your eyes, Llama. The eye doctor just said that my eyes are showing signs of sunburn, and gave me a prescription for glasses that turn into sunglasses. I'd better start wearing them more often. I had no idea how prevalent it is either. Wow.
 
Losing my sight scares me the most so I must make sure I wear sunglasses more often too. I'm glad you're doing something about it, Rob.
 
Well, I am back after a few binge days... I don't know why I do it, a few days without bingeing and I somehow believe it's all over, but then the cravings are back and I do it... Did not binge today, but it has been a struggle. Tonight I had a couple of small cookies, thinking that might somehow quell the cravings. It didn't, never does, not if I only have a few. Made the cravings worse, but somehow I was able to force my way through them and not binge. Will see what happens tomorrow...

Yep, that is what my doctor says as well. He suggests always wearing sunglasses and a hat, sun should never shine on your face... I guess this is what comes of a person of northern European ancestry growing up and living in Florida and Louisiana. I have always spent a lot of time outdoors, and only in my later years started wearing sunglasses, hats even less... Guess my blue eyes have their drawbacks.

Yep, Llama is right. And you should start wearing a hat as well. Shade those eyes, in addition to the dark glasses.

Today was a good day, exercised and ate well. Did my second physical therapy session and got a lot of new exercises, nothing vigorous, that will have to wait a little longer, but at least I think I am getting started. My biggest problem is right arm weakness, hopefully I can regain at least some of my strength.
Now there's a tune my brain plays as well. I wish I could muster up the same optimism for other things in life! Having to fight the same fight all the time is tedious, but...

Thanks Llama, you made me smile, and I needed to today. You are sure right "Having to fight the same fight all the time is tedious", I sure get tired of it... For me the only alternative I know is to give up and binge at will, glad I have been able to keep that at bay.

I've done the "give up and binge at will" thing a couple of times in my life and it only led to a vicious cycle of feeling worse and drugging myself with food more regularly until my joints started hurting, nothing fit, and I only got off the couch to work and buy more crap food.
 
I think you do amazing with what you are facing as far as intense cravings. I hope you acknowledge how far you have come as far as exercise, eating well, and taking care of your health generally, and that there is now figuring out how to not believe the cravings, but wow, you have accomplished a lot.
 
Fighting the good fight is very tedious, Rob, but here you are keeping on fighting. I hope you never give up. I hope none of us gives up on ourselves. I would become a big fat blob very quickly if I ate & drank everything I wanted to.

Wish I had only done it a "couple of times" ... But I know just how you felt, except my joints were ok. In fact I never felt too bad physically from bingeing, that probably makes it worse.

Thank you Marsia, what a nice post! You are very kind and do make me feel better. You are right of course, I am still almost 180 pounds lighter than at my highest, and am consistently exercising, something I never thought I would ever do. Just feeling a bit beaten down over the whole thing today, it does help to step back and see that things really are much better for me than they could be.

Thanks Cate, and it is tedious, a good way to put it. No I don't plan on giving up, I don't think any of us here do. Well maybe if I get some dread disease and only have a very short time to live, then I might... Not happening any time soon, or I don't think it will.

Hey Blue, good to hear from you! Eating more protein does help me stay less hungry, and that does help a little. However I don't usually binge because I am hungry, the urges have little to do with real hunger. Though sometimes hunger can trigger or start one, but that is not my usual pattern... Have you tried it? Does it help you?
