Upper Back Pics

Morning Upper Back Pics

A few months back, I was asked to post pics of the back.

Well, my stubborn butt decided to take a few today; I took these this morning when I first got up, with my dooch bag cell phone camera. I need them to track progress this coming year.

This first upper back pic is with shoulders pulled back, and shoulder blades pushed toward the spine. And, for those that don't know me, I am 5' 7", 47 years old, and 162 pounds. Back pain was one of the primary reasons I began my diet and fitness quest. It no longer exists, because failure wasn't an option.

Basically I just turned my back to the mirror, and took a shot.

Photo quality is bad; apologize in advance.

I am not all abs, M-kay? LOL. :) Just joking. ;)

Crap, it looks like I am being invaded by a snake, and its going to pop my head off like a cork, LOL. :)

Here is the other one I took, its a little tighter and "harder" pull back (but not fully retracted toward the spine), and a slightly different angle than the other pic.

The trap line going down the back, is nothing short than wierd looking to me.

This should settle whether I dead lift or not. ;) We sort of hurt one another, but it never lies to me.

We shall see what 10 more pounds brings this up coming year--of working dat' ass, and working with a personally modified DC.

This back will pull a 400lb dead lift, even weighing so little, and being and old fart.

Basically, all I have ever done for the back (as far as free weights) are: The DB/BB Pull-Over, the DB Renegade Row, Bent-Over Row, the T-Bar Row, and of course the Dead Lift. In addition to: BB Shoulder Shrugs, the Upright row, DB Arm Pit Shrugs, and Incline DB Shrugs (where the shoulder blades are squeezed). I now have a Lat Pull down bar, which can double as a Tri-Push down. And, this will be a new addition, and a new stimulant in the training, which I look forward to. I need to get my back a bit wider, and I will also post a back spread as well.

Best wishes

Infact, look good anyway! Never mind the age :D

The quality of the pics, just suck. I am getting a new camera soon, and this will solve that problem.

I like my natural pigment, thanks :) White Lightening.....lol...:)

Hope you day is great FF.

I have shown quite a few pics over the past year and a half, but haven't shown any back pics that I can recall. The dooch camera I use distorts the color of the white light for some reason, and makes my skin look like ****, but in reality its just white and clear. My strongest body part are my rear and front deltoids, and my upper traps (from the rear). I am not counting the core in this equation, as they are developed enough now, diet is all I mainly have to do here to bring them out, and its mostly genetic related. My weakest body part are my biceps as far as development. They are strong and pair nicely when working the back, but they are difficult to get any shape (could be genetics and/or age at this point), but we shall see what this year brings.

The tri's are a different beast though. They respond strong, but get bored with a routine fairly quickly. This is one reason (among many) that I am giving DC a shot in the my FBW. It will decrease rest periods, increase intensity. I think for a while, the tris will not be bored, LOL. Which is want I want: HARD AS WORK.....increases the odds of good results.

I have some good development on the tri" (Oct-08)

On a side note, Big-T. I have a comment. Just because your friends can get away with drinking and eating garbage and make gains, DOES NOT mean you can get away with it. We all are not genetically nor biologically put together the same, which allows some persons to get away with more than another person. It is just a fact, Big-T.

Have you figured which group you belong too? How long before you learn? Chances are you are normal. Which means, you have to careful with diet and what you do with your routine, buddy.

Thanks for your comment, brotha....

Best wishes

You're simply amazing, Chillen ;)

Your body is a piece of artwork.

Thank you, ILM.

Truth be told, I am an old man among persons half my age, and thus half the potential just through normal biological degradation that age provides.

The age process, gets all of us in the end, and it will not matter what one does. However, the "health quality" within the body can be manipulated through diet and fitness, and can make a "dramatic difference" how one can lead into this inevitable end. I have proved this to myself.

And, it is hitting home more so now, as my wifes mother just finished having quadruple heart bypass surgery (age 75), two days ago. She weighs about 210 pounds (and is 5' 3"). All of her adult life, she was a stay at home wife, and became addicted to food (mainly sugary sweets, and fast foods, and this list goes on), and even grunted like a pig, and made weird noises when eating food. She is really a strange woman; I may write a piece on that in the COL one day. It is difficult not to think her dietary habits (more than age, and family history), has contributed to her current condition (just speaking to her situation). And, this is the main reason, I haven't been posting near as much lately.

I cannot accurately express the mental and physical difference between the 43/44 year old I once was to the current 47 year old I am now. I could have gone ahead and not truthfully realize, what my aging body was capable of, and I expect, there are younger persons that fall in this category in one form or another. I have learned through the years, that good things are produced from "hard work". And, this isn't just related to things physical. It relates to working on yourself and continually trying to make a mind-body connection, and handling your "inner-government" and its propaganda bull-sh^t, the body can dish out.

My diet and my fitness activities are so interwoven in my life, I treat it no different than the trials and tribulations associated going to work everyday. And, take it just as seriously. Probably more seriously than my job "to a degree". I may experience some complications from losing my job, but making serious mistakes in diet and fitness, can be far more deadly and permanent. We have only "one shot" (IMO) in this life, and one body to do it in. One is by far more wealthy trying to make the body healthy in this "one shot" journey. I have always put my health above the "vain" aspects of diet and fitness. I figured, that if I focused on the important aspects of health (such as eating the right foods, etc), work my body as designed, this health focus will transpose itself on the outside--just naturally: Just focusing on one and the other has no choice but to show up. I am not as "vain" as some may tend to think. If one new me, they would learn rather quickly I am quite the opposite.

I apologize, I rambled on a bit.....LOL.

Thank you for your comments, ILM.

Especially from you.

Best regards,

Chillen

Cheers for the input chill. First, im not complaining about my friends making bigger gains when they eat sh1t etc, because theyre not :) Im stronger than the 2 people i train with.

The only mates who are making bigger and better gains than me are the one's juicing (i have many of them). Iv got a younger mate whos 17, hes just started on the anabolics. Dont have a clue why they need to do it so young.

:D

Nice pics BTW ;)

I apologize, I didn't see that you had posted this.

But, I still have my eye on you. :p

Is your drinking under control? :p

Your vascularity is messing with my head, Chillen :D
You've got absolutely beautiful veins.

Yes, I'm obsessed with the physiology of our species :)

But it's a labor of love :luxlove:

I like turning you on, LOL.....just kidding, :)

On a more serious note, I was hoping the dialog between you and Steve would continue, but lately there hasn't been any communication between you. Are you both having a conversation privately about your physical problems--if you don't mind me asking. I may be just a tad impatient, lol.

Steve (stoutman81) is a good man, ILM. I respect him a great deal, personally. Of all the trainers I know, he would be the one I would select to assist me, if I needed one.

He posts more on the Weight Loss forum (our sister forum), and is well known over there. He has his own personal journal as well. So, if he doesn't post here for a length of time, you could go over there and talk with him.

Pick his brain all you can if he is willing to talk to you.

Best wishes

Who doesn't like turning people on? :D

No, nothing online and nothing offline ;) I'm not sure Steve has even been online since my last post, Chillen. From what I've gathered, he's very, very busy. But I've still got 3-4 weeks to go before I can do an upper body workout, so Steve has lots of time to respond :)

I'm hoping to find out more about periodization, because I'm definitely going to need it. I know how that works in rowing (I've got a program set up for me for that), but I need to have a program set up for me with free weights/machines (or at least enough info so I can set one up) so my body doesn't self-destruct :D

I agree with you about respecting Steve. I definitely took notice of his posts. He's incredibly knowledgeable about so many things, and he has a really great way of communicating. He's so "real". He seems to have all the right things going on, therefore, I have tons of respect for him.

Thanks for the info, Chillen. I've never been over to the weight loss forum, so if I have some time, I'll check it out today ;)

All the best to you, Chillen

I hope your day is rockin' too Chillen! :)

I don't want to bug Steve. He has enough on his plate, and the bottom line is he knows where his post is here and he'll get to it when he's ready ;)

But if he hasn't answered by the end of the week, I'll have to gently remind him :D
