Need advice n loads of help..

Hey Everyone

I am 17 years old
Male
Weigh 14 stones UK
And 6ft 2” tall
Body fat = unknown

Thanks for taking a moment to look at my post. I am in desperate need of help. I want to reduce my weight and gain muscle, or what ever it takes to get to a good size. I readied though most of the stickies on body building and food nutersion.

Currently I am not sure how many calories I take in on a day. But I think I added up the correct amount of calories I have to take to keep at my weight…..which I think I did not do right.
4229.780kcal/day to maintain my weight.

It is quiet hard to know how much calories i take in because mostly Indian food is cooked at home. And has more than 15 different herbs, spices etc in there and is not measured but mostly to your own taste. But I will do what ever it takes to help.

Morning
* I eat either a bacon sandwich with a drink and in between lunch time I will snack on crisp, chocolate (only recently) drinks (only diluted I don’t drink fizzy drinks)

Lunch
*I will tend to eat any thing my mum makes (mostly Indian food)

Dinner
* It’s really the same as lunch anything my mum makes and after a chocolate is needed.

That is mostly things I will eat. I have no clue where to start. Wither I should gain muscle or lose some pounds.

I think mostly I need step by step instructions on what to do first and so on.

What I am mostly having trouble is what I should be eating

Also I need help with what I should be doing for a normal routine in the gym; I mean I am not asking for you to plan it out but I need basic instructions (what I should be working on and what exercise etc).

I hope I am not asking for to much, but this year I want to be able to look right, and feel good!

I want to start this all at the end of February as I want a basic background on what I need to be doing.

Here are some pictures. Be warned lol!

Thank you for taking your time looking at my long post.

Your pictures aren't showing up on those 2 websites. But from what your statistics say, you wouldn't seem worse than me.

Yeah dude yours ain't so bad. Just healthy diet and exercise would do it! Get a good routine going, stick to it, and your well on your way. I can't get too into it, I would consider myself a noob in giving advice ;)

What is the reason you want to put the "work you have to do" off until the end of February?

I have to put it of till then, as i need to get money for the gym and basci products. Plus college i just want to get started with that.

Do you rekon i should do a full body work out? or carido first then full body work out.

Also how many calories should i be aiming for?

Sorry if these are dum questions:newbie:

first, with the right dedication, a gym is a waist of time. there are a million exercises you can do with zero weights ... using only your body weight. Check out our exercises on the main site for some ideas: Fitness.com/exercises

but, i would focus a bit more on cardio than weights ... both are important, though. i don't know how much time you have, but work your way up to about 40 minutes of cardio a day (including your warm up)

Yeh i have enough time to do 40 mins of carido a day. Should i be droping my carlories from that estimated number?

I think a stone is 14 lbs right? So you are 196

It is doubtful that you need that many calories especially for cutting. That's more than I take in and I have a freakishly high metabolism

How many would i need to be taking in. Or should i count the calories i eat on a daily basis and start from there?

Also when doing carido should i be taking any whey or any think that will help me.

Try the formula in this link to begin:

http://training.fitness.com/nutrition/nutrition-101-a-13819.html

Everyone is a little different so start with this and tweak it until you are losing between 1 and 2 lbs a week. Actually you'll probably lose more than that at first because you'll lose a lot of water weight, but if you lose more than 2 lbs a week for more than a few weeks, adjust it.

Theoretically, you lose 1 lb a week with a 500 cal deficit each day

Hey GOOCH

I done that formula and i got the 4229.780k. I mean i know for sure that i dont eat 4229.780k a day. So what im going to do is calculate how much i eat aday and take it from there and equal it out.

I think you may have made a mistake with your conversions. I figured it up with your stats and got 2977 if you are very active 2788 for active.

That means you need to be at 2300-2500 per day to lose a pound a week ... at least theoretically. That would be a good place to start and weigh yourself once a week. Weigh yourself first thing in the morning before you eat anything and after you go to the bathroom with no clothes. This will eliminate fluctuations due to different foods in your system and or different clothing

Most people will be close to these numbers, but the occasional person will be way off (like myself, I weigh less than you and eat 4000 per day)

Calorie counting is only one side of the answer, you also need exercise to help burn calories. The upside of this is that the exercise also helps to stimulate you mentally and helps with a positive attitude. I found a site that runs free aerobic classes on it. Take a look E-Gymonline exercise fitness videos online. You have to register but its totally free and the streaming classes are pretty good
Good Luck

Okay i planed it out.

I will be starting gym this month, to get me motivated as i find home abit cramped.

My calories are going to be 2000 a day, (but need to adjust to get right.)
I will be consuming 6 small portion meals aday. Which i still need to find recipes to.

exercise will consist of carido.

Jumping Rope
Rowing Machine
Treadmill
Stationary Bike

What that be a good start?
What else do you think you can recomend.

Also thanks for the help so far "TheGOOCH":)

Edit* How much protein, etc should i be looking at?

Your progress would be much better if you include weightlifting to preserve (and as a beginner even gain) muscle while losing weight

A good rule of thumb if you are working out is 1 gram of protein per lb of body weight...so around 196 grams. It doesn't have to be exact, I 'd say about 200

Hey, sorry to be asking so many questions. I was wondering how would i be doing weight lifting if i would be doing carido, as you canot be din both togetha either one or the other. Would i be needing to do one week of carido and one week of weightlifting?

Once again sorry for these questions.

You can do cardio after you lift or you can do cardio on non-lifting days. There's no rule that says you can't do them both.

NOW, you probably won't grow as much muscle, but your goal is weight loss. And weight training is one of the best ways to lose weight.

Who told you you shouldn't do both? I do both. If you're really trying to gain a lot of bulk it's not a good idea to do too much cardio, but I would always recommend doing some

...and what def said, on off days or after lifting
