Emily Rose: The Reboot

Your Work Colleague sounds exhausting - or at any rate, a lot of work. I hope he can pull himself together a bit, and not make unwelcome drama in the workplace.
The other kind of drama, on the other hand, is very welcome! Will you be directing this one, or do you move roles like that around a bit in the group?
Cheers for your weight-losing going according to plan. :)

- Thanks Petal.
- Well, I really hope he does LaMa, for his sake as much as my own.
- It would just be with one other girl my age Cate - she seems nice, but competition is fierce.
- We're going to move the roles around Amy, but I will be helping out, and hopefully get a part in it.

DAY 11 - SATURDAY 11TH JANUARY 2020 - DEAR DIARY...

Exercise:

3 Good Things:
- I found that cool diary. I love it.
- I had a genuinely really great night with SG. We also had a talk where we both said that we are not going to end up together. But we are happy with the way things are going right now. So that was cool.
- I had the house viewing and I feel there is hope I will find new accommodation soon.

Anything else?:
Lots of unneeded drinks, but I am not too hungover today, so that's good.

  • 2 cream biscuits
Exercise:

3 Good Things:
- I visited Angela and her little baby today. The baby was the cutest. Do I want one?
- I watched a bit of Dancing With the Stars with my mum, it was enjoyable enough.
- I dragged myself out for a run today, despite tiredness from last night.

Anything else?:
No weigh-ins when I've been drinking the night before, as the numbers are always completely skewed. I'm not exactly bouncing around energy-wise today, but it was pretty good overall. I'm really enjoying my life again. It's great.

And zero cigarettes yesterday, too! Go, you!

I like your way of finding three good things about every day. Such a great way to look at life - to see the good in the "ordinary" things as well as the one-off exceptional things. Oh, and that talk with SG sounds so positive! Good on you!

Hoping for the house to come through for you! :)

Enjoying life again is The Best Feeling. I find babies adorable as well and love playing with them but as soon as all responsible adults leave the room I just want to give them back as soon as possible. To each their own though!

I was good with my own kids never really interested in others . Although spending lots of time with my little nieces and nephews is great now .
Sounds like a great weekend Emily . Makes a great difference to the week ahead

- Haha, I saw that Rob, that's great. :)
- The 3 good things is courtesy of my mother Amy. She swears by it.
- Yeah, she was cute LaMa, but I'm not sure about the all the time aspect of it.
- Cheers Petal.

3 Good Things:
- I flew to Denmark on a work trip.
- I stayed in a really lovely hotel in Copenhagen.

Really, really tempted to drink in the airport and at the hotel. But I said 'no.' Proud of that.

3 Good Things:
- I once again resisted all alcohol at the airport and I had a lot of time to kill. This was very good for me. I never realised how pervasive booze is in the airport, until I had to stop drinking it.
- My meeting went really well and the people were lovely. (One was a handsome Latvian. Very cute.)
- Some woman sitting next to me on the plane insisted on talking to me for half the flight, but she was around my age and quite interesting actually.

Anything else?:
I was a bit lonely travelling on my own this time. That was a surprise. Maybe I really am ready for a partner. Oh - and I got asked twice by two different women the question in my title of the day. Maybe it's a stock question for Danish women, I don't know. I felt like crying, 'What are you talking about, I'm too young!' Then I remembered I'm 33. Hahahahaha.

3 Good Things:
- Work Colleague is making a huge effort with me again. I don't know if something clicked for him from our conversation on Friday or what it is, but his demeanor has changed immensely. I don't really know how genuine it is but I don't care.
- Work wasn't too bad overall and I got a nasty job that I was dreading done without too much sweat.
- I got my car back! Oh happy day.

Anything else?:
I won't bother going into what my title of the day is about because you won't approve, but I just have it there for myself. I'm really frustrated at the scales, I thought that at least the lack of wine and beer would have kept me down, but no. So I am going to really have to make a valiant effort this week. I didn't bother having a dinner today but I ate a lot of rubbish, so that's not good. I am sick of the whole thing really.

I'm not going to add any new rule for this week either. I am glad I have stuck to the others, even though they're not really working for me.

It was very hard to stick to the daily exercise with all the travel, and tonight I was just too tired to go anywhere, but I feel even doing the yoga videos is sticking to my pact. I guess I'm not ready to give up quite yet.

P.S. The ads on the site are a monstrosity that need to be fixed. This post took me hours because of them.

Hey you have been at this long enough to know better than to put too much stock in the short term scales, advice I am always quick to give, but not always so quick to take.
So I am going to really have to make a valiant effort this week. I didn't bother having a dinner today but I ate a lot of rubbish, so that's not good. I am sick of the whole thing really.
Hang in there, we all get tied of this from time to time, making it past that feeling is important. Keep eating anything like you did today and your weight will soon be down, it has to be!

Well done not drinking! You've sure been busy  The red pepper soup on the 13th, was it homemade and if yes would you share the recipe?

Congratulations on the meeting going so well in Denmark. And I'm really impressed with you, work tripping to Copenhagen - it sounds so cool, in pretty well every sense of the word! I love hotels with elegant calm decor - is that how it was? And hotel bedrooms, with their impeccable neatness and cleanness - such a pleasure to relax into at the end of the day (as opposed to one's own bedroom, which - in my case - is pretty nearly always full of reminders of things to do, like put a wash on, or dust that bookshelf...

That's very irksome, that the scales haven't shown the drop you ought to have seen after not drinking, but I expect that there'll be a sudden two-pound drop, apparently out of mid-air, in a day or two, just because that's the sort of thing that happens.
Backing you as hard as I can for the valiance this week!

still Fascinated by your breakfast mix Emily . I’m loving the combination but I’m wondering are they throwing you up to about 600 cals for breakfast alone ? Might be worth looking at .

- Thanks Rob. And you were right, the scales were down today! More on that below.
- No LaMa, I got it at the airport, but it was lovely. If I find a nice homemade version, I will share with you.
- Everything you said about hotel rooms is so true Amy. The hotel was kind of designed as if you were on a ship, so it was really cool.
- Hey Petal - I only have a very small amount of the granola and cornflakes, so I think it's okay as a breakfast. Porridge or oat bran is better of course, but sometimes I just want the sugar.

3 Good Things:
- SG got a new job! Really happy for him. He doesn't start for another month, so he's planning a trip home and we might take a few days and go around the country. I guess we'll see how it goes. I would like to do that with him, it would be lovely. I really am just playing out Bridget Jones at this point, haha. Me:
- My mum kind of annoyed me last night, and she had left a note on the table for when I woke up this morning apologising. It wasn't necessary cos it was only a minor thing, but I thought it was a nice gesture all the same.
- The amazing fat loss drop I had this morning. I weighed myself twice just to make sure it wasn't a mistake. It was such a nice surprise. I am sure there must have been some glitch in the scales that was making it too high all along, but I don't care! I just hope it stays down now.

Anything else?:
I'm so encouraged by what I saw on the scales this morning that I've decided to add a new rule after all. To recap so far:
1. Exercise every day. More or less achieved with some lighter days just doing youtube yoga videos. But that is more than what I was doing before, so it counts as a win.
2. No alcohol when I have work the next day or alone. Achieved! And this one was put to the test this week with lots of time spent solo in hotels and airports. I am going to push on with this. Cutting down alcohol to even one or two days a week must be really helping to reset my system. I have been a heavy drinker for years.
3. Keep a daily log on WLF. I have been, but obviously when I am travelling or away for the evening, I can't, but I've kept it up-to-date and I'm tracking all my food intake on the notes on my phone.
4. No pizza or chips when I eat out. I have also stuck with this one, despite being extremely tempted by this amazing-looking pizza place at the airport. (Copenhagen airport is great.) I also had the burger in the hotel on the Monday, and requested a salad with it instead of chips. So I am doing extremely well on this one.
5. No coffee or black tea.

So, my thinking behind this one is that I drink a lot of tea and coffee, but it isn't one of my favourite things to do. I think I could easily switch to herbal and it wouldn't have a huge impact on me. I wouldn't feel like I was missing out too much. I mean, I obviously really like both of them, but I would prefer to give them up right now over giving up chocolate or cigarettes.

I think it will be good for me because I will be drinking less milk, and I honestly think a lot of milk disagrees with me. (I nearly always feel unwell after a latte.) I also don't think a lot of caffeine is good for you, and it's dehydrating, and I'm already dehydrated enough from the cigarettes. I also don't think I drink enough of either to have a really miserable time when I cut them out.

I just feel all the little changes will eventually add up. I'm trying not to overwhelm myself with tackling the big issues right now, but I think even a week without caffeine and that extra milk will make a difference. And it's not forever, just until I reach my goal.

You are doing great, Em. It really does sound like you enjoy SG's company and are having fun. I think your Mum leaving you a note was a nice gesture. Not overwhelming yourself with tackling the big issues is also a very good idea. I really do think you are lining up your ducks :)

Em I’m too tired to write but one of my tweaks is cutting back on the coffees !!! Agree with you there . Time for sleep

179.3 (1.1 pound lost - 15.3 pounds to go)
Good for you! Into the 170s!
I’m pretty sure I am 100% Irish, but those DNA tests are really interesting.
Well, you ought to be. The test would probably show you some details, even if that is the case. I attached a map from my report below, shows, where my Irishness comes from. I got a similar one for the UK. For you it would be better. Me, I am 100% (almost) mongrel European American, a redneck, or in Florida a cracker.

- Thanks Cate. Quack quack.
- No worries, thanks Petal.
- I didn't know that's where the term 'redneck' came from Rob, that's cool.
- Yay LaMa!
- I hope so Amy.

  • fig roll, toblerone piece, echinacea and elderberry tea
  • bag of popcorn; 100g stawberry jellies

Cigarettes: 8

3 Good Things:
- I went to the cinema tonight with a friend to see Bombshell and while we were there, we also bumped into another two friends, one of whom I hadn't met in ages. So that was nice.
- The scales are smiling at me. It's so great, as I have this big fancy weekend away next week with lots of formal gowns involved, so I want to feel my best.
- I stuck to my no coffees/black tea rule with relative ease. And no headache either! I am very thirsty though, I wonder if that is a side effect of all the extra herbals I've been having. I feel like this will give my body the clear out that it needs. Or help to at least.

Anything else?:
Not really. I have to be up early tomorrow to work reception at the yoga place so I better go. Namaste.

I am very thirsty though, I wonder if that is a side effect of all the extra herbals I've been having. I feel like this will give my body the clear out that it needs. Or help to at least.
Most "detox" teas make you pee more. I hope you're drinking plenty of water to compensate!

caffeine is a mild diuretic.
