Petals diary

As far as I can tell from the ingredients lists they stretch the full-fat stuff with water to lower fat and calories, add thickeners to keep the mouthfeel similar, and still charge full price. I may be mistaken though, which is why I asked.

I don't really know enough LaMa but I think I'll go with lower calorie version as I know it's what I am allowed.

Yesterday was good I ate well.

Dinner I had a piece of steak , some home baked skinny fries done in the oven with spray oil and some baked beans . I was very tired and feeling a bit overwhelmed about certain things but enjoyed the meal and I was fine by the time I ate it. Went for a stroll around town then . It's dark now early so enjoyed it with the lights on and there was a bit of a buzz as a Saturday night.

I realised last night that the lindahls yoghurt I was eating is in fact not yoghurt but quark . I took a picture of the carton as I couldn't see it without my glasses and I was surprised.

I normally have a chocolate biscuit with my cup of tea at night if I haven't had after my lunch but realised last night I didn't really want it . Was happy with that . A big step for me.

Hi, Petal. I love the quark I get, but it is so thick & spreadable & nothing like the texture of yoghurt. That's a win not actually wanting a chocolate biscuit. I said no to yummy chocolate biscuits on Friday night. Win.

I've never had quark - it sounds like a cross between yoghurt and ricotta cheese? Or is it actually what I call ricotta cheese? (Surely not! Also, why did the marketers choose to use the name quark, when a quark is an already-existing thing?)
(Cheers to both of you above for calmly and casually declining the chocolate biscuits. :hurray: :hurray: )

Well the one I was buying was sold in the yoghurt section , tasted more like Greek style yoghurt to me . I don't think it's like ricotta cheese .

Well done, Petal!

:D The dairy product was definitely named long before the particle - or the Ferengi barkeeper, for that matter. To my mind it's unsalted cottage cheese (very high in protein) but the stuff that's sold as quark in Western Europe is often just like normal yogurt.

So nice you fit in your skirts again! Congratulations!! I don't think I could go down to a size 10 - even at my skinniest when I was not overweight I was a size 12. I bet you look amazing now!!

I had never heard of quark before - it looks like it would be easy to make at home - maybe I'll give it a try sometime as my daughter loves cheese and always wants us to try to make some.

Really glad to see you so content with yourself and able to relax more and aim for the long term!

LaMa yes it tastes like yoghurt , nice and creamy .
Thsnks Marsia I am telling you now I have a long long way to look amazing. I can carry it off abit with clothes on but I look like a blob in my undies . Can't see that changing but as I don't intend to be parading about in them I will try not to worry.

Hi Petal, I feel similarly - I feel really good about the way I look in normal clothes now, but no underwear modeling in my immediate future, either! I am kind of shocked that I lost that much weight and there are still big pudges, but it's fine really - they will come off eventually, so no use fussing over them!

Hey Petal
Rob is your wife on the diet too ?
Kind of, she doesn't need to lose much weight so she's not really on a formal diet. However we do eat a lot of the same things, and she has changed her cooking a bit to suit me, so sort of. She has more snacks and sweets than I do. This is kind of new, my wife is a vegetarian and I am not. Before this diet we ate a lot differently than we do now, I still eat some meat, but not nearly what I used to.

I normally have a chocolate biscuit with my cup of tea at night if I haven't had after my lunch but realised last night I didn't really want it . Was happy with that . A big step for me.
Good for you, nights can be particularly hard for me.

And I don't know quark, not as a food anyway.

Hang in there.

:D The dairy product was definitely named long before the particle - or the Ferengi barkeeper, for that matter...
Thanks, LaMa - I'm now a touch more up to speed on the dairy product quark - and the Ferengi barkeeper as well!

... I can carry it off abit with clothes on but I look like a blob in my undies .
I expect you look great - but if not, it's not you, it's the undies! It's having those gorgeous matching lacy ones in some stunning colour - turquoise! purple! - that makes the difference. If I ever hit a Major Goal, that's what I'll buy to celebrate! :hurray:

I may borrow your idea and dig out a pair of lacy boy shorts undies for fun! I haven't really worn things that show off my figure since before having a kid. I forgot that people do that!

Don't be so sure, I think most women look better than they think they do. Odds are your self image is not a good measure of reality. Ask your husband, he should know, who sees you more than him? I have this argument with my wife from time to time, she gets down on herself saying that she looks old and so on. I can honestly say she looks very good to me, and I tell her so. Not that I seem to be very convincing, but it is true.

Haha Amy yes it's the undies . Rob nights were always my weak point. At the moment it's not such a huge issue I don't know why really. I'm pretty busy so maybe that's it. Nice your wife and you eat similar now.

Marsia go for it and get some new ones ! I agree I don't have a great self image but I'm a good work in progress as really as I get older it's not a huge issue any more . I'm a lot more accepting .

I had to buy some trousers yesterday. Picked up a slim fitting pair , just some cheap ones . Never thought I would see the day again. This time I'm throwing away my bigger clothes .

A lot of catching up to do today!
Yes, Petal, it's the undies & having a haircut makes you look & feel slimmer too! That's the theory I'm going with today anyway. I love hearing you being so much kinder to yourself. It's lovely xoxo

Well today was the day people noticed I lost weight . The new fitting trousers I am guessing . And I didn't parade in the undies lol . I actually felt ridiculously happy that I got compliments . My eyes are very sore this eve so I am not typing much . Very sore and itchy

You do deserve the compliments, Petal. I found it very difficult to accept compliments when I lost lots of weight back in 2007 but learned to accept them graciously eventually. Thanks for the 4lbs in September "challenge". It has actually helped me a lot xo

Thanks LaMa and Cate.
Cate well as we don't really respond well to challenges it was more a little target. And as I maintained last week I still need to see a drop. Hoping I will have this eve. I have to set targets at my class so currently working towards my next one so think I am 7 lbs away now . They are personal targets and no time defined which is nice.
