Cate's Diary

Thanks, LaMa. I am too.
I had a fun day at golf again. I ate exactly what I said I would & also bought some pumpkin seeds, along with my regular order, on the way home at the wholefood shop. I had my piccolo of bubbly after golf & enjoyed it and am back home now drinking herbal tea with G. That was the first time in a long time that I didn't have another drink when I got home. Progress :)
I just synced my fitbit & it all lit up :D
14,715 steps, 25 floors, 10.39km, 2,736cals, 247 active minutes.
MFP says 1,397 cals consumed & I have earned 1363 extra cals from exercise.
I am happy with all of that!
I will possibly have some yoghurt & fruit after dinner as I am very hungry.

Wow, great day!!! And wonderful about skipping the drink and also having a healthy snack at the end of the day! It's also so good to hear you are enjoying your golf club - I was worried it might not work out, but it all seems to be going great!

Hello Cate! Is nice hearing again from you after all this time! I hope you can get back on track as soon as possible. Wishing you a good resolution with the cardiologist as well!

Thanks, Marsia. I am determined to not get tangled up in any of the hassles at the club & just stay a playing member. Not tidying up behind the bar is very difficult, but there is a paid barmaid (the captain's partner) so I am really going to try not to do it.
Glad to hear you had fun!
Thanks, LaMa.

Thanks, Diego. I'm getting back there. It's frustrating regaining weight when you know what you need to do & have been successful at it before. I'll make this time the last time that I need to.
What I need to do for the rest of my life- weigh myself EVERY week!
Meanwhile, I need to come up with some more breakfast options that don't entail bread or grain. Greek yoghurt & fruit will be too cold for Winter.
BF- Was Jalna Greek yoghurt with stewed rhubarb, hemp seeds & almond meal, 1/2 an avocado with some tuna & vinaigrette 395 cals
Lunch- Tuna patties, with a small salad
Dinner- Chicken soup & some oat sourdough toast. (Just put that into MFP & have replaced it with 3 Ryvitas)
Somewhere in there, we will have a small fruit platter.
No wine. It now says 1161 cals so room for something else- more protein maybe?
I'm back on track!

Veggies omelets are always great for breakfast when it´s cold!
I could eat eggs every morning, but G seems to think we shouldn't. He makes a delicious omelette. We are buying lots of veggies tomorrow. Lots! Our older son is coming for dinner Saturday night & has asked to have baked veggies & salmon. He's eating low carb/high protein (no alcohol) & has lost 10 kg in the last 6 weeks.
I'm at 1322, after dinner. I added some more yoghurt & fruit.
I am way under on protein & potassium. Vit A is low too & Calcium.
I'll have a better look in the morning at what I can add & what my macro targets are. Any ideas?

For breakfast: grilled tomatoes, maybe with an egg on top? grilled, stuffed mushroom? something in the hot stewed apple line - or apple and quince?
Thank you. More veggies coming up. We need to shop as we only have 1 egg left!

I think weighing yourself every week is a great idea. I stopped for a while and my weight zoomed up quickly, so I am going to try this, too. Potassium - avocado is very healthy and filling. Vitamin A - sweet potatoes, carrots, dark greens, red peppers... Maybe make a quiche or egg bites in muffin tins so you have a nice protein breakfast already made that you can warm up? Or you could make a big batch of roasted sweet potatoes and have one with butter and yogurt on top in the morning. I often have left over soup with a dollop of yogurt on top for breakfast.

Nice your son is doing well on low carbs!!

Thanks, LaMa & Marsia. I like the sound of egg bites in muffin tins I think, with some extra warmed up veggies. I had a bowl of chicken & vegetable soup this morning with 70g oat toast as I didn't feel like Ryvitas for breakfast. My BF needs to be warm. It was -3oC this morning. 304 cals
Lunch will be tuna patties with salad(incl. some avocado), dinner is going to be lamb shank casserole & veggies(incl some sweet potato, carrots & greens). Total there is only 1062 so room to add something. I think it will be fruit & maybe some yoghurt. I may have just one glass of wine, but maybe not.
I eat dark leafy greens every day, broccoli, cauli, carrots, avocado & sweet potato etc. I think I'll have to be more specific with inputting my food as I have some generic things saved like "veggies as accompaniment" to save time logging. I think I do eat enough Vit A when I look at what foods are high.
I might do a recipe that is the supplements I take each day as well & add them. I hadn't thought of that before for some reason!
We are going to do a very big shop today. I think we'll buy some steaks as I haven't had steak for ages.
It feels so good to be back on track. Why of why do I forget this?

It does look confusing, LaMa.
I hope I do learn. It's very, very frustrating regaining, losing, regaining etc. it has to stop!
We did a huge shop & have ALL of the veggies:D plus steak, chicken & a pickled tongue( G bought that when I wasn't with him).
We just went & got a load of wood & I'm about to start a book- Alexander McCall Smith, The Quiet Side of Passion. It's an Isabel Dalhousie book, not one of favourites, but he's such a good writer that I read everything he puts out.

I have trouble getting my head around enjoying it for some reason. I just didn't look at it raw. I had a taste & it's just like a tender corned beef for sure. It's not logical because I happily have lambs fry or devilled kidneys.
Day 5 completed successfully today- < 1500 cals. I'm feeling good.

Hello Cate! You might not remember me, but I've been on here before a couple of times. Hope all is well with you!
I do remember you. All is well with me thanks. Welcome back xo
Tongue´s good stuff! Congratulations on another good day :)
Thanks, LaMa xo
Sounds like you are doing awesome!!!
Thanks, mlb. I'm getting into the swing of things now. I felt lighter this morning & almost hopped on the scales but didn't.
The GK's are about to arrive so I had better have a quick look around the diaries. Bye for now xoxo
Edit- BF 1/2 avocado, 1 boiled egg, vinaigrette
Greek yoghurt, rhubarb & almond meal 400 cals

I wish I knew about losing and regaining - I do think we all might want to make long term plans to combat that, like maybe picking a favorite piece of clothing and just making sure once every 2 weeks that it still fits or something like that. The thing about it sneaking up is so annoying - it's so hard to tell it's happening!

My dad was an incredible cook and used to make the best beef tongue - so tender and flavorful. I haven't attempted to make it - I was vegetarian for 13 years when I first moved away from home and never really have felt that comfortable cooking meat - I sort of hold my breath that it will come out tender, and it usually does, but I don't get experimental with dishes with meat in them.

Happy GK visit!
