Thanks, Em. I tried timing the bike for the final chapter of a book I had started reading before the weekend & I didn't stop until I finished it. 7.5 km in 15 minutes. My legs hurt, but if I ride everyday they should get stronger. I'll start my squats again on Friday, the first of March :)
 
Nice to hear you had such a fun weekend! Riding every other day, alternating with walking, might help you build up your strength faster. Being a little sore after exercise is fine but real pain means you´re overdoing it.

The weekend was so much fun!
The pain in my legs has gone. It was from all of the dancing. Walking up here at the moment is not safe, with snake mating season, so I will ride my bike again today but not for long & see how that goes.

It's a thought we should probably put straight back out of our minds. Eek!
It's actually a bit cooler today so I may just go for a walk I think. I am driving our GS to work at 4.30 pm & going for a walk around the river would be nice. It's a 2.5k walk. I might do 2.5k on the bike in the meantime just in case I change my mind later about the walk.
 
A friend of a friend once stumbled upon such a gathering of snakes in the spring. They... warmed each other up. Very helpful :)
 
Did 2.5 km on the bike which was good as G & I decided to visit a friend who has been ill( one of my golfing friends).
She is the one that said she would have to ask the others if I could go to lunch with them now I am no longer a member. She asked me to their next lunch to celebrate her's & another's birthday. :)
 
It was a lovely visit actually, LaMa. I'm sure she regretted saying what she did. If I didn't really like her I wouldn't have been so hurt at the time (& disappointed) but also wouldn't bother visiting.
My legs are well & truly healed again & I will go for a walk & do some bike today. It is now 2 months before we go on our trip & today is the last day I am going to have a wine for a month. I have had a couple of days in the last week without any.
 
Glad your legs are feeling good again after all that dancing! I've been working on my arms a lot, and sometimes I am too shaky to pick things up gracefully. It's good to work them out hard and get them a nicer shape, but a pain in the neck while driving and things like putting drinking glasses away.

That's great your friend realized how absurd she was being and invited you to do nice things with her!!! Do you have your itinerary all planned out for your vacation, or does the tour company take care of the whole schedule? I keep looking at Minoan art from Crete (it's unlike any art I have seen in a really interesting way) and getting happy you are going there - I can't wait to hear all about it!!! I picture you smiling floating around in the amazing turquoise sea! :)

Lol I would love to see the snakes but not be too close . I held a snake in a pet farm once .
Glad to hear you are back in the zone of cycling and walking . You will feel better for it .
Marsia my arms are just wobbly and rotten so I think although my main exercise is walking I might start to incorporate some arm exercises . I do know what to do but what weight sizes ?

Cate only 2 months before Greece , my friend is going in June . He said that they have had more rain in February than they normally get in a year . That’s in Crete by the way , really excited for you going to Greece.
 
Hi Petal, I am doing P90X resistance bands that you hang from the door and use for doing modified push ups and things like that, because that is what my husband is doing and it is also nicest for the injured shoulder I have been nursing a while. But I also do resistance just using my weight - I do plank pose like in yoga, modified girl pushups (because I can't even do a girl pushup) and wall pushups and swats where I hold the weights or lift them as I do swats. When we do weights, I start with something that is a little lighter than I think I need, and if when I do 10 repetitions slowly and at the end I am still not feeling the muscles get a nice workout, I go to the next weight up. If you don't have a heavier weight, you can also do the exercise as slowly as you can so that you are really working the muscle and not using any momentum to get the weight lifted. I'm sure LaMa knows way more than me about this though, and I'm sure there are a bunch of great youtube videos on this!

Don't worry, my arms are my weakest part and it only took a couple months to get them a lot nicer looking and also they really are getting stronger, which feels really good! Just be careful not to overdo at first!
 
Hi, LaMa, Petal & Marsia. I am not getting excited about our trip to Greece yet as other things keep getting in the way.
My weight for example.
I am trying hard not to despair, but it's back up again.
Also, I have been organising accommodation for next year's social golf nationals, even though this years' hasn't happened yet as there is a lot happening in the place we are going to& it's booking up fast. G has his heart set on going & said it can be our next years' holiday.
I was talked into playing all 4 days of this year's tournament by a woman who said I could play with her in her cart each day. Now I find out that is not possible. It's in 2 weeks. Also, I would be playing with women each day. I knew it was the wrong decision. I was told I would need to pay another $25 per day on top of the almost $500 I have already paid. I sent a message saying I would just play on the Tuesday & Thursday instead, with my own buggy. I would prefer this anyway & that was going to my choice in the first place. I would rather waste the extra $100 I paid to play the extra 2 days than waste another $100.
G & I are going to play 18-holes of golf today at the course I think we may join next year. We'll leave soon as it's going to get hot today.
