Cate's Diary

Thanks, LaMa. I had a lovely time with the kids.
I did 5 km on my bike, followed by a set of my stretches & then 1 set of my strength exercises. I then had a delicious lunch & some kombucha (yum!).
This was my lunch (with some boring crackers- almost gone, thank goodness)

I may go back & repeat my exercises later. G just got back from golf early as they got hailed on & had to abandon. It's now sunny!
I'm sharing a pot of green tea with him now. Dinner is going to be some rice/quinoa, some dahl curry, veggie curry & beef curry, with 2 pappadams(done in the microwave), some Greek-style yoghurt & a little rhubarb chutney.
Happy weekend everyone, xoxo
Hi, Marsia!

Lunch looks lovely, dinner sounds amazing! Do you measure/estimate how many calories are in a spread like the above or do you go by feel?

I go by feel now I'm doing 5:2, but it is usually about 400-450 cals. G & I often have this for lunch. It was yummy but very filling. I have lost cravings, LaMa! I am now starting to feel that I have settled into doing 5:2. Now I just want my weight to reflect how I'm feeling :)

Oh wow I don't post for a day and miss loads .
Firstly so needed to read all that and get my mojo back. LaMa I love Hugh Laurie and Ellen so I really enjoyed and laughed out loud.
I have American friend and he laughs at my accent and different words for example
Petrol/gas , rubbish/trash, aubergine/eggplant, path/sidewalk
The American ones are second .
Love the look of your lunch Cate . Sounds like you are focused and in the zone . And also sounds like your life is busy with the kids and the grandkids and the "tip" . We call it the dump lol .

Hi, Petal. I don't feel like I have been doing much at all, whereas you are busy! I don't have any young children. Path in Oz is footpath :D I love the language differences too in English speaking countries.
That lunch I had is a regular thing. I love Mediterranean food- olives, salami, dolmades, cheese....
It must be close to dinner time. We are now having chicken with veggies & the curries will be tomorrow & Monday.

Curries sounds good . Yum
My daughter has decided right now to not eat meat. I have been cooking veg meals all week but they have been good. Going to try s veg curry for her next . Lucky I eat all she eats but husband still wants his meat , spuds and 2 veg lol .
My youngest is just 17 Cate but still In school and I work so yeah life is busy and stressful sometimes . But we all healthy so that’s a plus .

Ahhh, if that´s half a tablespoon that explains why I was overestimating so much - the whole thing just looks bigger in the picture. I´d taken that little dish to hold over a pingpongball´s worth. (Autocorrect´s suggestion for pingpongball: nonpolluting. I guess that means it´s supposed to be two words.)

I had actually measured the hummus out & levelled off a dessertspoon, rather than take the whole hummus container to the table. The meal did look huge in the photo but was mostly raw veggies. I struggled to eat it all. Too much carrot! It meant I didn't feel like anything afterwards & didn't snack on anything for the day. Had a dinner of baked chicken thighs & veggies.
I started my exercise program yesterday & rode 5 km & did a set of each of my exercises & stretches, was going to go back & try another set, but didn't.

This is the first time I have tried Kombucha, Em. It would depend on which Kombucha you drink, whether it is healthy or not. The one I had is very low in sugar & calories. I could see it as a replacement for alcohol at the end of the day & also a filling, low-calorie drink on FD's, so I am going to buy some more of the same brand. Hopefully, someone stocks it in our local town. I will have a good read of this article later.
Choice magazine does really good reviews- https://www.choice.com.au/food-and-drink/nutrition/superfoods/articles/kombucha

My first boyfriend made me drink Brottrunk for its health benefits (Linky: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brottrunk). Kombucha was a definite improvement, taste-wise. That´s not saying much, but for me to sort of kind of like a fermented beverage IS rare :p (Later I discovered I was histamine intolerant so I very happily gave up all things fermented. I think they´re gross, their smells make me gag and ingesting them gives me excruciating cramps.)

I really do find this drink delicious. Maybe I chose a really good one straight up. I'm going to buy some online I think & get it delivered.
I am having such a lovely day today. Another lazy, but pleasant Sunday. Back into my exercise tomorrow.

Kombucha I have heard of but never tried . Sounds like you are having a nice lazy day Cate . Is your town very small ? Lucky we get most stuff stocked here now .

Hi, Petal. I think you have had a lovely day, albeit a lot more energetic than mine. I have made a conscious decision to have lazy Sundays. The Kombucha I tried & loved was lemon, lime & mint flavoured. SO nice. We live on 50 acres, 11 km from a small town, with a population of about 2,000 people. We have one supermarket, a fruit & veg store, a butcher, quite a few decent shops & lots of cafes, one of which sells this particular kombucha, but it is probably much more expensive than what I can get it for online. I'll check it out in the next couple of days.

Your town sounds just perfect and so does your farm. 50 acres is a lot . I have 6 but don’t do much with it . Perhaps I should do more than just sell the grass feed from it

Hi, Petal. Our nearest town is a pretty little town by a river, surrounded by walking paths & has most things you need. It has a medical centre, with an attached allied healthcare centre, 2 levels of aged care, a small hospital, hardware store, lots of arts and crafts stores, a library, post office, dentist, police station, community centre, men's shed, & lots more. It's surrounded by small towns & communities that shop there so it services a large area. We are very lucky to have what we do.
Our land is not really farmable land- mostly rocks & wallabies & over half bush (forest). I love it! We rely on tank water, but also most of the land is South facing, so not that suitable for growing things.
We are picking up our GS & doing some shopping this morning & then I have some cash book balancing to do for the Vets golfers. Then I will exercise.
FD tomorrow & Thursday this week.
