Cate's Diary

Okay, I didn't get very far back, but enough to see that you are still kicking butt! I'm very pleased you're still at it here! I need to stay put. I hope your meeting was productive.

Well, all I can say is that I'm happy you are not letting it get to you too much. Disappointing that the club day didn't go that well, but it sounds like you made the most of it anyway.

Your attitude about the club is so awesome. Just don't even let that drama touch you.
I have learned the hard way Cory, but I have learned, which is the main thing.

Thanks, Q. I'm still trying to kick butt anyway. I don't think I have it in me to give up any more, which I hope is a good thing. We need you to stay put too. Not my meeting any more Q. G & I are no longer on the committee. We quit last year. We're not going back on a committee ever again.

We did Em. I'm sure we'll hear about it today, whether we want to or not. 3 of the players today are on the committee & 2 of them love to gossip.

It has started to chill off overnight now & I am sleeping much better. Autumn in Tasmania is so pretty.

Hi Cate,

Boy, your golf club sounds like quite a place. Why can't they just play golf and have some fun? I will never understand how politics and pettiness can infiltrate a game that is supposed to be to be fun and stress reducing.

I am glad you are trying to stay out of it- probably for the best. Who needs that in their life-lol?

Hi, Cowboy. It is something else! I don't understand it either. Some people thrive on conflict, drama & power. Not me.
I'm at the doctors now & I hope she doesn't take my BP!

All that golf stress cannot be good for some of your health markers, Good luck at the doctors.

Funny you should say that Tru. I have had numerous blood tests, a referral for x-rays, a referral to an Orthopaedic surgeon, a Doppler (?) test booked in for next Friday & am having some skin cancers removed/tested next Thursday. On one side of my face, I have a little annoying mark & on the other a tiny little hot spot that has been annoying me. What can I say? :(
That´s a really interesting idea of looking at it.
That's one way of putting it LaMa. I'm as stubborn as all hell.

I have had a really bad day & feel exhausted. I have been in a lot of pain today. My doctor took one look at my feet & suggested surgery straight up :( I'm a bit scared about it all.
The golf club stress didn't help. I'm aching from head to toe & I think most of that is from stress.
I have eaten well though & didn't stuff my face or have a wine (or 2 or 3).
Hopefully tomorrow I will not hurt as it's women's golf day.

Ouch! The doctor didn't have any other recommendations?
No, but I'm seeing the podiatrist in 2 weeks time & I'll talk to him about it before I see any surgeons.I have to ring to get an appointment & at this stage it would only be an appointment to get an assessment. I'll have x-rays first.
I'm really sorry to hear about your feet. How are you doing on the wine front in general?
Thanks Em. I cut my wine consumption down to almost nothing for weeks at the start of the year & I am now much more mindful of how much I have. Today I will have 2 glasses for example- 1 after golf & 1 when I go out with G to his 8-ball grand final. I now often just have a glass, rather than half a bottle. I can see a day where I may only have a glass of wine on occasion. It is losing its appeal. I never thought I would say that.
Anyhow, I'm off to golf. I'm going to wear my men's shoes that look really blokey as they are SOFT & hope that my feet don't suffer as much. Fingers crossed & hopefully not my toes(this is, unfortunately no longer a joke, the way they are going).

I hope you´ll find a good solution for your toes. I have seen some clients with very decent results from surgery though. Sadly our society pretends it´s normal for women to want to kick off their shoes in the evening because their feet hurt so much. And there are too many jobs that require standing still for hours, which isn´t even healthy in flats. And so people don´t start doing something for their feet before they´re ruined.

Enjoy your day Cate. x
Thanks, Em. I have had a lovely day.

Thanks, LaMa. Most of the damage was done to my feet when we ran a bar, 7 days a week, for 18 years, from 1st think in the morning until when we dropped into bed very late at night. We had 3 small holidays in that 18 years & brought up our 2 sons. Don't ask me how we did it. I never wore heels.

I wore my really soft, blokey golf shoes today & they are much more comfortable. My feet are not throbbing as much as they have been. I'm not really sure why not. There are 2 different things going on at the moment with my feet- one is structural & one is inflammation I think. Blood tests hopefully will show something. I have started having apple cider vinegar morning & night but only started that yesterday. I stopped taking probiotics 2 weeks ago & am wondering if that is why my feet are burning. That's the trouble when you take supplements. It's hard to know if any of them are helping or hurting you.

Anyhow. I had a great day & played really well & am feeling really good.

Yay for playing well and feeling good! Yeah, I was thinking about pub work. Can you imagine employers requiring their female staff to always wear heels on the job? Just cruel.

I almost never wear heels and it's because I will never forget the first time I saw an elderly woman's feet who had worn heels almost every day of her adult life. Trashed is a polite adjective to describe them.
