Cate's Diary

Thanks, LaMa. I had a lovely day & played with probably my favourite woman player ( K) & I got around the course better than I usually do. We got rained on a few times, but the thunderstorm waited until we were safely in the clubhouse. I have come into division 1 & won by 5 shots. I think I played well because all the stress of the tournament was over. Perhaps being on my feet all day yesterday helped me today, with stamina. I don't know really. I know my feet & ankles are now swollen.
Tomorrow I do not have to do anything :)

Hope your feety pegs are feeling better! You must stop working so hard ;)
That is the hardest day of the year Han. It's over for another year & we'll try to make it easier for next year if we can.
Hey, great job on your game! Hope the feets feel better soon!
Thanks, Jen. I had lovely company & that makes a lot of difference with me. K is never critical of anyone & is like a breath of fresh air!
Enjoy your lazy day; put your feet up and all that.
I sure am going to do that LaMa.
I was awake half the night with a very revved up brain. There will probably be a nap at some time during the day.

I didn't end up having a nap, Cory, but had a very lazy, much needed rest day.
Today has been the opposite- very stressful! It's the same stuff- golf club. It has to change & it's complicated!
Have to go. The kids just got off the bus.

G has had the day off from the golf club & went with me to a pop-up market that one of my golfing women friends (M) had a stall at, in a town about 30 km away. We bought some lovely veg, including beetroot, some olive oil, free-range eggs, organic cranberries(M) & a succulent (M). It was all local stuff. Then we voted(State Gov't elections), bought some slice from a stall set up outside (local primary school). We then went to our local market & bought some plants & some olive oil soap that was made at the same place the oil was made (local). We dropped one of the plants off as a gift to a neighbour who helped us fix our fence for shearing as we noticed he was putting in a new garden. We had bought him a carton of Jack Daniels & cola before Christmas, but I like the idea of giving him a plant. We gave him a Callistemon, which is a native bottlebrush. The Wallabies don't eat them & they attract native birds, including honey-eaters.
It has been a restful & enjoyable day- just what we needed. I'm about to do some essential paperwork for last Tuesday's Vets tournament as we paid for all of the food, trophies etc & then we get reimbursed. Because I am also (currently) the Sec/Treasurer I have to be very careful that all is obviously above board. I have all the receipts of course. G & I buy what fresh food is left over from catering.
I'll talk about our plans another time.

Sounds like an amazing day

LaMa, you are so not a derp, but that did make me smile. It does get misty here in the middle of Winter & it does look eerie. Often it's during the night & I wake up with Asthma & peer out the window to confirm why.

The plans I referred to are not exciting Em as they only relate to the golf club. We have paid up until the end of this year already so won't be making changes anytime soon. It will depend on what happens for the rest of the year, but possibly G will go to another club & I will stay at the local club, but I would no longer be Sec/Treasurer of the Vets & would be able to play at his new club & him at mine as we have reciprocal rights with that club. He already has lots of friends there. At this stage, we're just thinking about it. He would have to make sure he didn't take on any position at the other club.
G has played at our local club since he was 9 & played with his mother, so he is finding it very hard to make a decision to leave.
Yesterday was an absolute shemozzle at the club. It was a captain and president's day where couples come from other clubs & is usually a very sociable, fun & buzzy day. We each take food for afternoon tea for the visitors. This year there were only 11 groups all up- 5 from our club & 6 others. G & I had played at another club a couple of weeks & had talked 3 couples into playing & I had arranged for 2 of the women at our club to play with 2 of the Vets, whose partners don't play golf. It was embarrassing. Other clubs get anything from 50-80 players.
Neither the captain nor the president played. The president turned up late & said the captain would be there for the presentation. Neither were there at the beginning to greet people & the captain not only did not come back, he didn't ring to tell anyone. There was no-one to do the bar, do the cards, etc. Those of us that were there had to muck in & do it ourselves. B had burst into tears at the start of the day. It took a while for us all to settle down after the initial rush & shock, but I think most ended up having a lovely day. It made me realise that if the captain was no longer there then we would go back to enjoying it again. We still would not go back on committee & G would still never be captain again. That has been ruined for us.
For the moment we will continue to do the things we do, stay away from arguments as much as possible & play golf when we feel like it. G will most probably not play on Saturdays as that is when he feels the least comfortable.
The couple we played with has become good friends. I think this is the 3rd time we have played with them. I invited them up to our home as it was on their way home. They are going to join the social group we have joined, after hearing us talk about it yesterday, so we will get to see them more often. She thinks that they will end up joining the club G may go to.
Anyhow, that turned into an essay. I had better get moving. I have to make sure all of the vets' stuff is up to date & I need to do a reconciliation of our tournament to tell them tomorrow how much money we made. I like the vets but don't like the obligation. I also need to reimburse us all of our costs.

Yay for making new friends; that´s a valuable skill. The club, well, you know where you´re at by now. It´s a shame how one bad apple can spoil (things for) the entire barrel.

Thanks, LaMa. I just realised I forgot to come back!
Had a really good day today. I got a message from our neighbour down the road to say he was bringing his Mum G up to see our home after lunch. She missed out on seeing it when the golfing women called in after lunch 6 months ago & I keep telling her to come visit & she doesn't so I suggested to her son that he brings her up next time she's out our way. I asked him to give me some warning though. It was really nice. She absolutely loved it. I don't think I have ever heard anyone so enthusiastic about it. I get on very well with her & she is one of the reasons I will probably stay at our club.
I'm feeling quite cool about the club & not stressed. They are having their monthly meeting tonight & it will be very fiery. I'm so very glad that we are not there. I hope it isn't too awful.
