Ain't nothin gonna break my stride

Hi,

Thanks guys! :) Can't believe it's December already hopefully it's a good one.

Eating is on track. My nutrition process right now (thought I'd better write it down in case it evolves) is that I count calories, eat 2 fruits per day, and at least 2 veg (240g +) per day. I don't drink anything besides water, and don't eat a lot of processed foods. I am eating approx 1.2 kg tofu per week (3 blocks). I've also cut out all white bread and only eat whole grain rolls from the bakery section a couple times per week. I've cut out sweets except for once in awhile when it's homemade. The thing I have not been as great about is salt - the recommended amount feel's so low! 1 can of lentil soup I like to buy exceeds it.

I don't have cheat days. I just try to work it in if I go out to eat (try to stay on calorie track, and still get 2 veg in and then maybe only 0-1 fruit).

I've gone above calories a few times, only catestropically once so far (Thanksgiving) but I've tried to be more forgiving of myself.

It's taken me a couple months to get this plan sorted out, but it's working for me. I don't really ever get hungry, and I don't really miss anything since I 1) haven't cut anything out entirely or 2) for me, eating some foods (sweets, white bread, etc) just make me want it more but when I don't eat it at all, I don't miss it. So, I think it's sustainable.

I've started exercising but I'm not going every day since I'm trying to ease into it. Looking back at my last successful weightless period from several (5, geez where does the time go) years ago, I can see now that I was definitely overtraining. And then I burned out. And then I blew up again. Really trying to avoid this haha.

But, my strength is pretty terrible right now, especially my arms. I can barely do a pushup. So, working on getting stronger is my next goal.

This post is kind of all over the place but I wanted to document my thoughts as we finish out the year!

Your plan sounds very similar to mine, from the diet right down to the weak arms. ;)
Ease yourself into the workouts. I'd hate to see someone else injure themselves the way I did by getting too intense too early.

Have an awesome Monday, and an excellent week! :)

Thanks Cate!

Ah Elizabeth I realized we are also the same age and both had a 70 lb goal to start! :) Hope your injury is healing quickly.

Gotta be honest guys, this holiday season is harder than I thought it would be. There is a lot of really taste food around! And I really like to cook, not all of it healthy. I hope my progress isn't slowed by this, I have been going to the gym.

Food:
Vegan mac & cheese (soo good! Cauliflower, cannelini beans, potato, pumpkin, carrot, nutritional yeast, cashews, vegan cheese (potato based), vegan cream cheese (coconut oil based), avocado oil spread for the cheese sauce plus pasta)

1 'sausage' pastry (linda McCartney brand)

A ton of vegetable soup

3 'cream cheese' cookies I made.

Gym: 34 min elliptical

One win was that yesterday I overate a bit and was feeling a little defeated. I ended up stopping before I ate more and going to the gym though even though I really didnt want to. And I did the best I have so far speed wise on the elliptical.

We have to finish the year strong guys! So close!

Your progress will slow a bit. But it won´t be reversed. Vegan mac&cheese is a hot contender for today´s dinner :p

Well done you! Stopping yourself & turning it around is a big accomplishment :)

Ah not a good day. So many calories I'm trying to shield myself from counting. Whyyyyyy.

I literally don't know why I did it.

So depressing.

I usually get crabby with myself too, rather than down. We are human & I don't know any perfect people.

Pretty sure "perfect people" is a logical impossibility. Let´s get up and do better as of right now.

I feel like I'm on a frickin roller coaster I can't get off. This holiday eating is killing me! Why am I doing this to myself?!

It is so much easier to eat healthy when you live and eat alone vs. at home. I feel so stressed thinking about hard work losing weight going to waste :(

Honey, of course, it is easier when you live & eat alone. Try relaxing & enjoying yourself, knowing that you have the know-how to fix things up as soon as you can. My January is going to be oh so different than my December. Yours will be too. Don't stress :grouphug:

Thanks guys I appreciate it! I needed the perspective.

Last day of 2017!

I am excited for the new year, there is a lot I have to do though.

Food today:
Tofu & broccoli
Half a cucumber
2 'meatballs'
Small amount of pasta with sauce, daiya, Broccoli
Apple
6 Beefless tips (gardein protein)

Walked and stretched a little.

I haven't weighed in, still thinking about if I want to.

Food today:
2 apples
2 'sausages'
Rice noodles
Bowl of peas
Bowl of broccoli
Banana
Oat bar
Tofu scramble (tofu, a little olive oil, salt, onion, garlic, paprika)
Herbal tea ( no sugar)

Exercise:
45 min elliptical
Stretches
10 pushup's

Okay, I have decided I will weigh in on Feb 23rd (7 weeks) with the goal to lose 10 lbs. I haven't weighed myself but I have a good idea of where I'm at now. If I am succesful, in Feb I will be at the lowest weight I have been as an adult. I am looking forward to it! I also want to get stronger, I'm going to aim for 40 pushups.

I am back on track after the holidays.

Thanks Cate!

Feeling good. I think my diet has kept evolving to be healthier and healthier. I am eating a bunch of vegetables and 2 pieces of fruit per day.

I'm going to try and 1 new vegetable/fruit in per week to get a greater variety because right now it's mostly apples, bananas, cauliflower, broccoli, and peas.

Also, eating lots of tofu, going to add in some beans or lentils maybe.

Exercise: need to do more hiit exercises, and strength training

Stress: it's been a stressful week, need to manage it better and not let it get to me.

Overall though doing well!

Your diet is evolving & is looking very healthy Julie. Think about adding some orange colour to your diet too. The more colours the better I think. Carrot, sweet potato & apricots have lots of Vit A, which has a critical role in maintaining healthy vision, neurological function and healthy skin. Beans & lentils are great food. It's great to see you doing well xoxo
