Ain't nothin gonna break my stride

Thanks Cate :) I have been eating some carrots recently! Yeah I definitely need to add some beans and lentils for more variety.

One thing that is concerning me a little is that I look like I am gaining weight in my stomach. I haven't weighed in so I don't know for sure but I seem heavier ( and have for over a week)

I am kind of confused because I don't think I am overeating, and I have been exercising. But I definetly look worse, not sure if I need to do some huge course correction or what I'm flummoxed.

Hey guys, I hope that's all it is. It's so weird though! It's not going away.

Anyways, trying not to think about it, it's taking up too much of my headspace!

Food yesterday:

1 carrot
1 banana
7 prunes
1 bag broccoli
Rice noodles
Grapes
Lots of Kale soup (kale, carrot, onion, garlic, celeriac, olive oil, salt)
2 'sausages'
Peas

Exercise: 1 hour cardio

Hi guys, hope everyone's doing well.

So, I am going to weigh in and take measurements this week on Feb 1 since I am halfway through my weigh loss goal! (6 mo in, 6 to go).

Still on track, but still weirdly bloated.

Yesterday:

1 Apple
1 Banana
1 carrot
Vegetable soup ( 200g kale, 1 onion, 4 cloves galic, celeriac, 2 bullion cubes, olive oil, salt, thyme, rosemary) it was so good!
Rice noodles
Peas
160g broccoli
Tomato sauce

1 hour cardio, stretching

I was not intending this explicitly with my diet, but I have eating limited grains since I'm concentrating on fruit, veg, beans/tofu.

1 apple
1 banana
1 carrot
480 g broccoli
1 veggie burger
Tomato sauce
85g walnuts
4 packets brown sugar

2 hours exercise

Hello,

Yes I've increased my calories for a couple of days, trying to find the right balance. I want to avoid anything unsustainable.

I don't really feel like I'm getting any stronger at the gym, maybe I'm not pushing myself. But, I do think I am losing weight albeit slower than before.

My goal is lose 5 kg by April 1st and be able to burn 12 cal/min for 45 min on the elliptical. I think this may be skewed high but I'm just comparing to what im doing currently which is 9.5/min. Also I would like to do a lat pull down, 3 sets of 40kg (right now can only do 25kg) and flexibility wise be able to roll so that my knees touch past my head and be able to comfortably touch my toes (can only do after a bunch of stretching).

For my food, I am including the all the following in my diet almost daily: apple, banana, carrot, half a kg of broccoli with rice noodles or half kg tofu, sometimes peas.

I can't wait til spring! But I am glad I have a chance to get in a little bit better shape first - I feel like every year when it gets warmer I regret not getting in shape.

Thanks Cate!

Today was a lott of veg :).

Kale, onion, garlic, sweet potato, celeriac, squash, broccoli, peas, spinach, rice noodles, grapes

I am getting used to eating a large volume of food (since you have to in order to get enough calories with fruits, vegetables, beans etc), usually several pounds per day. I think that's why I was bloated for several weeks, but doing fine now.

Totally unrelated, I dyed my hair recently and the roots have already grown out and it's only been 4 weeks. argh, so annoying.

Okay back to fitness. I'm going to sign up for a 5k this summer, so I think sometime soon I will attempt to run... not looking forward to it. I would really like to get back into spinning but classes are so expensive!

Also I saw a recipe for chickpea chocolate chip cookies recently. It looked really good (chickpeas, coconut oil, oat flour, sugar, chocolate chips). I might make it soon and try swapping the sugar for raisins, and maybe the coconut oil for avocado. Or maybe that's too many substitiutions, hmm.

Very likely. Lots more fiber. Gut flora needs to adjust.

Sounds like a sign your hair is healthy and growing well :) A centimeter a month is about average, no?

Definitely. Try it with the original recipe at least once to see if they work and taste good, then think about substitutes.

Terrible terrible binge.

I need to remember how painful this was. It's the first one of this magnitude in a long time.

Why??? I don't understand myself sometimes. It's like there are two of me fighting for control.

Thanks Cate!

Im not sure about the avocado.. Just seems wrong to me somehow lol.
Maybe applesauce to replace the oil and maybe the sugar.

Hey guys,

I am at a loss. I am feeling a lot of compulsion to eat out of the blue.

I think I may take a break from calorie cutting and go nearly up to maintenance for a week and see if I feel rejuvenated. It has been 6 mo of dieting and I've lost 42 lbs/19 kg. Maybe my body needs a break. Additionally, I'm around the lightest I've been as an adult (though still quite overweight) so maybe my body is rebelling. The last time I hit this weight 5 years ago I ricocheted right back up to my highest weight. I MUST AVOID THIS.

LaMa, I think if I had to choose 1 word it would be deprived. I just wanted to eat some tasty things. Which kind of surprised me because I like the stuff I'm eating now too.

Yes, there was secondary, tiredness, stress, etc but mostly I just wanted to eat. The stress didn't help though, it might have pushed me over the edge.

Being around your lightest weight could have something to do with it. The body is a beast of habit :) I think your plan sounds like a good idea. Eating a crap ton of really high quality fruit sometimes helps me as well.

It sounds like a break will let you get some equilibrium back. I think it's a good idea to have a breather from time to time xo

Omygod, day 5 of this terrible binge. I'm so angry with myself at this point.

It ends right now. I feel like crap.

Hang on: are you eating maintenance or are you binging? There's a big, huge, horrible difference! So let's get back to what you said about wanting to eat... What about the stress and tiredness? Were you able to fix them? Eating more is a valid short-term solution when you're tired or overwhelmed and short-term solutions are all our bodies know. So try to be gentle with yourself. If only because if you aren't you'll be more likely to overeat to make up for the fact someone's being cruel to you...
